  1. Fitz clearly has "what it takes" to lead an NFL-caliber offense. After watching his 11 games this season, and the 6 or 7 last year, I'm ready to stick with the guy for the next 4-5 years.

That said, Buffalo's needs are at LB, DE, and continued strengthening of the OL. Re-sign Whitner and Fitz to 4 or 5 year deals.

Next season the offense gets Easley and Parrish back at WR, and perhaps Spiller becomes truly ready for primetime. The young guys on D have gotten a lot of playing time this year, and with a FA acquisition or two and decent draft the team could compete immediately for the playoffs.

And yes, I realize this whole plan is contingent upon the decision-makers at OBD making smart choices in the draft.

thanks for you opinion concerning our QB.

thank god Nix and Galiey all want a franchaise QB and not one who can win 6 or 7 games.

the bills will get their QB this year

  2. With the names on that team, of course they play hard.

your so dumb you dont even know you just gave them the highest of praises.

people like you crack me up you think you have to be a name player to be a good player.

the bills are full of young very good players who dont know how to play any other way then balls out 90 miles an hour but you diss them way to go.

mark my words all you as-holes who knocked Nix for this draft are going to look like fools very soon and after this draft if god willing we stay healthy next year we are going to be a very good football team.

these guys are playing their as-es off for galiey with nothing to gain to me that speaks volumes for their character and love of the game and for the great job of coaching Galiey is doing.

look @ the jets and their big mouth coach they flat out quit on that big mouth jerk off 2 games in a row and now there is dissension coming from the defense because Rex said they played like sh-t and they need to carry the team and the bust of a QB and the defensive players were very pissed about him criticizing them when they held miami to like 152 yards total offense.

the bills are headed in the right direction and IMO football is fun again in buffalo and its only going to get better because we have a very young team.

  3. I can't believe MoDOPE still has a job? Is Ralph senile???

Blurb from R D&C article sums it up:

Here's the Bills' first-round draft pick report from Sunday. 2004, Lee Evans: Invisible as usual, until the game was out of reach; 2006, John McCargo: played for the first time all season and made a tackle; 2006, Donte Whitner: Played OK, made a pick but also drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty; 2007, Marshawn Lynch: Not on roster, traded to Seattle and playing lousy there; 2008, Leodis McKelvin, played the worst game of his undistinguished career; 2009, Aaron Maybin: Hey, he was active. 2009, Eric Wood: Injured and didn't play; 2010, C.J. Spiller: 14 touches, 102 yards including returns. Way to go, Tom Modrak, good job.'

Except for Wood and CJ its a total mindboggling discrace! Most fans on this board could have picked better by just picking up a Pro Football Weekly magazine!

why cant you rock heads get it thru your thick skulls it was not his call it was always jurons.

its common knowledge that Modrak wanted Cushing,DJ overruled him and wanted Maybin.

the guy is director of scouting he could not force DJ or Marv to take the player he recommended what part of that dont you idi-ts get?

  4. We keep talking about drafting Luck but I'd rather go after another Stanford guy in Harbaugh if he decides to leave and try for a job in the NFL. I know a lot of people like Gailey and he hasn't even had a full year yet but I ask, what has he done? The improvement in our offense in my opinion is more of a credit to Fitzpatrick than Gailey (remember, our offense looked good last year when Fitz was at QB as well). I've heard people compliment his "half time adjustments" but I'm just not seeing them. And our defense is suffering because we have a head coach who only knows offense. As for Harbaugh, he can keep us consistent on both offense and defense. His brother has done a great job in Baltimore. I am confident he can make a positive transition to the NFL and he can help Fitz with his accuracy issues. I'm sure I will get a lot of disagreements on this and I know Gailey hasn't had much time but I'm telling you, we would not miss much if we dumped Gailey whereas we could be missing out on a potentially great chance with Harbaugh.

    absolutly ridiculous clueless post.

you dont change coaches and GM's like you change your underwear.

great idea and logic lets learn another offense and defense again and go 3 an 13 next year. really i dont know where you guys come from with this kind of crap.

they are playing their balls off for galiey and scoring like we have not seen since kelly and you want to change everything again brilliant very intelligent.

  5. Don't know about you guys but I'm mad. Mad that they are good enough to beat anybody they play, but find a way to lose.

No moral victories.... already seeing posts about Chan has this team playing better, Al Davis was right.... just win baby.

Tired of hearing about Kyle Williams for Pro Bowl when the Defense still cant stop the run. How is he going to the Pro bowl when they give up 150 or more a game on the ground??

Tired of hearing about Lil Donte getting a contract extension when he makes tackles 10 yrds down the field.

Why are we paying Lee Evans 9 mill a season but can't make a catch that can win you a game. When Fitz says Stevie is our go to guy... I think Lee should give back some the money he hasn't earned . David Nelson plays better than him. :wallbash:

Speaking of Stevie..he will be alright after he goes home and have a good cry.... he had his worst game of the season . But I still will take him over Lee anyday.

They had the Steelers beat. They clearly outplayed them in the second half. They have heart, character, still willing to fight. But I'm tired of losing, watching them every week find a way to lose.

You can easily see they are better coached football team.

Bottom line is they are 2-9. They just don't have enough talent yet. If they can get 2 or 3 more impact players like Troy P that can take over a game, we will be on to something .

But until then...we will watch them lose games they can win.

Buddy please hurry... we cant deal with this too much longer.

    OK done venting :)

seriously? they are a young team playing their hearts out and since the Baltimore game they have been one fun team to watch. they are learning and IMO their future is very bright. i think the problem is with you. if you cant see them improving week by week playing a brutal schedule then your blind.

  6. No thank you.

I'd rather have Christian Ponder in the 4th.

did you watch today's game against LSU,great post i think he threw for only 4 TD's,your post is clueless.

i think i know why its clueless its because your blinded by your boy friend Fitz.

you people really crack me up.

next you'll be saying he is as good as Brady, ben or manning. try getting real.

    mallett was downright great today.

but then who wants a QB who is 6/8 238 has a rocket arm played collage in a pro style offense and has only thrown 30 TD passes when we can have Fitz, you guys are a joke.

  7. How do you know if "he's" available? Will that first round QB be a Kelly or a Manning, or a Joey Harrington, David Carr, Heath Shuler, JeMarcus Russell, JP Losman, Ryan Leaf, Brady Quinn, etc., etc. If what you have is good at QB, do you build a supporting cast on defense etc, or gamble on that elusive "franchise QB." If you are absolutely sure, for example, that Luck will be another Manning(Peyton, not Eli)or Brady(a 6th round pick of course)and not a backup like his Dad, then go for it. But you'd better be right, when there are so many areas of need, and you seem to have a capable QB who is just turning 28, and might continue to improve, as many QBs do, with time. At bottom, it's a crapshoot either way.

that the biggest bunch of crap i ever heard and it only shows you are clueless.

do you think anyone knew manning was a guaranteed great QB the answer is no but if he or another QB with his credentials is out there and you dont take him because there is always the chance for failure then you would never draft anyone.

you comment is completely asinine and ignorant and a ridiculous excuse not to draft a stud prospect because you are in love with fitz who is a good QB in a pinch who will never be great because he is not physically gifted enough to be great. what a bunch of crap!

  8. I have been really behind drafting Luck for most of the season, but Fitz has completely changed me the past few games...

We can win with Fitz. With a better defense, we can make the playoffs. We certainly score enough points to win. I say we go heavy on defense in this draft...

and I'm going to say it you dont know a damn thing about football.

who would you rather have fitz or,brady, either manning, brees, flacco, ryan, big ben, palmer, rivers, vick, mcnabb, rogers, bradford, get the point?

look i like fitz and he is the best we have by a mile however in the NFL like polian and brandt and all the GM's who know their sh-t all say the most important thing on a football team is QB then LT.

its not a coincidence that all the teams that have franchise QB's are in the playoffs every year. its because they have the ability to elevate every player on the offense and make them better.

that being said the object of this game is to always improve yourself so if we can draft a potential franchise QB any GM worth his salt will do it.

want a perfect example. look at what SD did they had brees yet they still went ahead and drafted rivers and instantly started him.want to know why it was because they knew he was a rare talent,or as Nix said a no brain er. its called common sense.

franchise QB's dont grow on trees and if you can get one you damn well better or your dead.

this draft has @ LEAST 3 OR 4 potential FRANCHAISE qb's with one all world sure fire star in Luck. if Nix does not take one of these guys this year he should be fired but mark my words he will.

unfortunately its our buffalo bad Luck that we will not have a shot @ Luck however there are @ least 3 other QB's who we will be able to get hopefully and there is no doubt in my mind Nix will take one.

do i want fitz cut no. what i want is for fitz to tutor our new QB and be our second string QB. if we dont get Luck or Mallett or Locker maybe fitz will have to be our starter one more year but then is back to the bench.

mark my words we will get our QB of the future in the first round this year or we will trade back into the first round if we are unable to land luck with our own first round pick.

fitz is a great competitor but he is not a QB that can win us a super bowl. he simply does not possess the physical tools namely arm strength and accuracy to be a franchise QB and anyone who does not understand that does not know football plain and simple.

so just stop with all this fitz is our guy for the future BS because as much as all you guys have a man crush on him he is what he is a great backup and will never be a franchise QB.

  9. I don't know how many of you guys have seen the Georgia Bulldogs play this season, but I see them basically every week. They had some QB issues this past offseason and had to start a freshman QB named Aaron Murray. Mark my words, this kid will be a STAR one day. The reason why I am using him as another opportunity to hack on Mallett is because it's clear as day what one important quality Murray has that is glaringly absent from Drew, Jr. Aaron Murray has more "clutch" in his left nut than Mallett has in his entire lurch-like physique. Murray is mobile, he can make every throw in the book, and he has this team playing far above their talent level. This kid is REALLY just a kid, but he's a total GAMER. When he cleans up some of his mistakes, he'll be one of the best QBs in the nation - I guarantee it!

If you get a chance to see this kid, check him out. Mallett is a poser. Murray is a GAMER!

did you happen to watch ark/miss st @ MS st last night?

    i guess not.

mallet will go top 10. to say the things you say about mallett only show your ignorance. the guy can play big time is he as good as luck now,NO.

however with galieys tutelage IMO he will be a stud in the NFL.

  10. Bell has had a solid season thus far. He appears to be on a path to become one of the premier LT's in the league. As far as the o-line is concerned, we would improve by getting upgrades at center, left guard, and right tackle.

i guess you have not been listening to galiey when he speaks of bell. he loves the kid. playing coming of knee surgery the kid has been playing really well.

with another years expirance and another year in the weight room i think our LT position is set in stone. also this is not a good draft for LT's there are none even rated in the top 15 picks.

our line is basically set,if they like a RT in the second or third we may grab one but i think they like the guys they have there. listening to Galiey he also seem to really like the kid we got from Seattle.

our interior 3 is set in stone they are playing great and will only get better. our line is no longer the problem we all thought it would be when the season started. funny how our scouting dept seems to know what they are doing now. i think we will have the 2 best guards in the league very soon and our center is very good.

LG you have got to be kidding me,Livitre made the all rookie team last year and is playing great there is no way they are looking to mess with our LT,LG,center and RG they are playing very good are young and will only get better.

mike mayock thinks we have the 2 best young guards in the league and is on record as saying so many times in the last 2 years.

  11. Guys, I have read so much on this board how AL - if drafted by the Bills - will fly into Toronto and walk across lake Ontario, swim up the Niagara, and jump the falls like a salmon returning to its birthplace to get to Buffalo in proof of his athletic and leadership prowess.

Actually I just read a poster who said that he is the "best QB to come out in ten years"...

Does anyone have links, quotes, etc by "people in the know" - and not the lapdog - that support this national view of him? I read about him and I get the feeling that the national press thinks of him as a solid pick - not even a concensus #1 yet - but certainly not the next coming of Elway....

I just get the feeling that the locals have lost their ever-loving minds on what they expect this guy to be - if he comes here.

just do some research and find one person who says he will not unequivocally be the #1 pick if he comes out.

secondly try watching the kid play,i have watched him a lot and the kid is fantastic is coached by a great coach a former NFL QB who has had him running a pro style offense for 2 years now and he looks great doing it.

throw in he has all the physical intangabiles and the smarts and is not from california but texas whats there not to like. for the last 2 years every scout and pundit has been saying that this is the year to get your QB,i believe them.

    what else do you want?

No 'sour grapes' here - I've been extremely skeptical of Stanford's young sophomore 'Savior' since September.

just ridiculous. all i can say is that you obviously have not watched him play because if you have then your comment makes you seem like a moron.

what there is not to like or to be sceptical about with this kid is beyond me.

  12. I regularly read the Buffalo Rumblings blog on SB Nation, and I enjoy their insightful analysis. However, reading the comments sections of a recent article, one of the mods claimed that Fitzpatrick just doesn't have it in him to be a franchise QB.

My question is, why not? Yes, there are things he needs to work on, but he's well-respected and is a true leader on the field (just watch him try and throw blocks down field). He really seems to be thriving in Gailey's system and has great rapport with his receivers. At this point in the season he's projected to finish with about 25 TDs and 12.5 interceptions. He's able to make plays with his feet and has a good handle of reading the field.

I like it even from a marketing standpoint. The smart, tough, scrappy Fitzpatrick would be an awesome angle for the Bills, something we could really embrace as an identity, especially considering Buffalo's blue-collar populace.

This is all variable on Fitzpatrick playing at his current rate, and to be honest, it is hard to see him continue on pace to do so well with some really tough defenses coming down the stretch. However, if he does keep it up, he's earned himself at least a shot at another year.

simple because he is the most inaccurate QB in the league and will break your heart with a pick or bouncing the ball off the turf @ the most crucial times in a game just like he did in the KC and Chicago games.

imo his inaccuracy and knack for throwing horrible ints @ the worst times cost us both those games.

he is what he is a backup QB who does not possess the physical skills that the great QB's in the league do.

another perfect example was this sunday. the game should never have been close if fitz could throw the ball.

in the first 10 minutes of the game he had receivers wide open in the end zone all by themselves and he threw the ball each time 5 feet over their heads.

  13. I have been watching all the highlights of Mallett and Luck (since they are apparently the 2 QB's everyone is concentrating on). Mallett has a nice arm, throws a long ball, accurate, but mobility is questionable (except for the dash up the middle for a TD with a spread offense). I watched his conference and he seems intelligent but passionless. Luck has better mobility, accurate at times, but it seemed alot of balls were underthrown on occassion or his receivers would have scored more TD's if hit on stride (rather than reaching back or diving). His conferences were intelligent, personable and he seems to have more passion for the game than Mallett (in my opinion).

Any thoughts on Tebow. The guy has shown he can grasp an NFL offense, he is quick, rugged, appears to have improved his throwing mechanics (but I'm no QB coach)...but he has a BUTTLOAD of passion for the game and has a good head on his shoulders. Jim Kelly loved this kid and with Kyle Orton, Denver may want to deal.

What I see in Mallett and Luck is two very good quarterbacks, but are they "franchise" Peyton Manning type guys?? I don't believe so. It may be better to look for a young QB with NFL experience (if Kelly liked Tebow, so do I)

well i can guarantee you any GM that needs a QB would cream in their pants to get their hands on Luck.everywhere i read they say he is the best QB prospect to come out in 10 years or since rivers.

every game i watch him play i simply cannot imagine him being a Bill this town would go nuts if we got the next Jimbo we havent had a relivent QB since Kelly.

    IMO this kid is amaizing.

all i know is all we have been listening to for the last couple of years is wait until 2011 to get your QB.

  14. "(Bills head coach) Chan Gailey is a very good offensive coordinator. If you remember, he was moving the ball with Tyler Thigpen in Kansas City. They were scoring 28-plus points per game. The guy knows how to move the ball. And to his credit, he has been doing it (in Buffalo) without a tight end. He's a great schemer. The part I don't understand is why they decided to switch their "40" front (on defense). Whoever made that decision made a bad call. They did not have the personnel to make the move."

Did a TE catch a single ball Sunday? Was Nelson active? Stupar? One stud TE to go along with our 3 serviceable TEs would go a long way in both the run and pass game.

you obviously dont know this but we still play the 3/4 almost half the time. there are many variations of the 3/4 which we employ.

we have a great young TE prospect however since his fumble (which was not his fault) it almost seems like chan is punishing him anyway.

IMO he will be a great TE some day.

  15. Over the past four or five games the Offensive line play has been amazingly playing pretty damn good even with the revolving door at OT. I am not saying there's no room for improvement but the real focus of next years draft should be DE/OLB pass rushers on defense. If QB Luck is there take him, otherwise draft three DE/OLB in the first Three rounds. Load up on the front seven and draft some OT in the 4th round and later.

i know you fitz nuts dont get it but we need a true franchaise QB first priority, nothing has changed.

fitz will make a great back up QB to help out our rookie stud who will start from day one mark my words.

  16. Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson puts a lousy product on the field week after week, year after year.

But Bills fans still fork over their money to Wilson.

So, what is the incentive for him to improve the team? Why should he spend money?

Answer - there is no incentive for Wilson to improve the team. So, he won't improve the team. Bills fans still fork over their money.

your comments are so ridiculous its not funny. Ralph spends money just because you want him to act like that id-ot in washington who signs every name free agent then cuts them and throws his money away does not mean he does not spend money.

you obviously dont get it. you should say he does not waste money on washed up players just like nix said was going to be the plan.

  17. Much like Trent Edwards?

And yes I know Luck is better then Edwards.....just noticed he has a tendency to dump off A LOT.....

just go away.really i dont even know what to say to you except your freaking lost. thats what good QB's do if its not there they dump it off and take what they can get.

get real man. if this guy ever managed to get on the bills we would not need to worry about our QQB position for over a decade.

the kid is the best player @ the QB position to come out since rivers and peyton and you think he dumps it off to much really man get a life.

comparing him to edwards is like comparing manning to fitz and again he is not a California guy he is a Texas boy you know football country!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. I just want to know what everyone thinks. For those who envision an early pick like Luck or Mallett, also take into account the non-QB player you won't be able to draft due to using that top-5 pick on a QB!

if luck comes out there is no choice he will be the #1 pick over anyone in the draft including the other QB's available.

he is head and shoulders above any QB coming out and there are some great ones coming out but he is a very rare QB with the "IT" factor in spades.

  19. Carolina will have a new coach next season with no personal investment in clausen. If they end up ahead of buffalo in draft order and they deem Luck a strong enough prospect, you best believe the new coach will snatch him up, clausen be damned.

if Luck comes out there is no doubt he will be the #1 pick its a no brain er and yes Carolina will take him.

QB's like him come around every 10 years who ever has the #1 pick will take him.

  20. BuffTown will LOVE Shawne Merriman.

(Still can't believe Nix didn't sign the Steelers 4th-round reject Taddeus Gibson - obviously Nix was either napping or has no interest in improving the team!:w00t: )

another message board GM who thinks he knows more than a guy who has been in the business for 40 years.

secondly whaley didnt want him either i'm sure they didnt claim him just because they didnt want to cut corto or one of their other stars, get real.

if nix or whaley wanted him and thought of him as highly as you they would have claimed him.

i'll bet my life you never heard of the guy before he was cut but because he was cut form the steelers he had to be great, whatever.

  21. Peyton Manning - Week 5 vs KC - 26/44 244 yds 0 TD 1 INT 65.0 RTG

    Tom Brady - Week 6 vs BAL - 27/44 292 yds 1 TD 2 INT 69.5 RTG

    Drew Brees - Week 7 vs CLE - 37/56 356 yds 2 TD 4 INT 65.8 RTG

    Etc and so on...

Basically, my point of this thread is... Fitzpatrick is still having a good year. He didn't have a great game today, but I don't see it as any reason to sit around and claim that he is playing like crap, or should be benched, or should be cut, or is the worst QB, or whatever.

Remember, it was AT KC, it was windy, he was under constant pressure and his WRs didn't get open as much as they did last week.

He should still start next week, and until he puts together a TREND of bad games, his job should be secure, even next season.

listen all you people who think fitz is the answer. he is what he is. he is a inaccurate backup QB with guts that could get a team thru a game or 2 when their starter goes down.

fitz had many opportunities to win the game for the bills and he reverted to his same old self. the INT on the 27 just before the game ended and overthrowing a wide open CJ in the end zone in overtime to name a couple.

i like the guy but he is by no means a franchise QB and with the group of great QB prospects coming out the bills will definatly get one in the first round. hopefully Luck comes out but there are @ least 3 other very, very good QB's that are going to be available to the bills should he not.

fitz is not the answer but he would be a good backup and mentor to our new young QB next year.

  22. I'm really trying to not be flip here, but I will answer the question honestly: none. Meaning, I'm tracking them, if that's what you're asking, but from what I have seen so far I don't see any top five picks. The top one I've seen is Mallett, but then again he's not mobile enough for my taste. I know a lot of people are impressed with Luck, but to me he is on par with Ponder at the next level. First rounder and probable NFL starter, but not someone any better than Claussen or the bunch of QBs that came out last year. Locker is sort of like Snead. Lots of pub but not worth picking. There are a host of athletic QBs that are worth a look in the later rounds like Jerrod Johnson and Tyrod Taylor but we are talking about round 5 +

I'll tell you the guy that really impresses me every time I see him play: Tate Forcier. But he's not even a starter in college anymore. Of course, neither was Tom Brady (same school too).

your comments on Luck are down right laughable and show you have no idea what you are talking about . do you ever watch the kid play? if you lie to us and say yes then its absolutly assinine to make the comparisons you make on the kid.

the guy is the total package and oh yea for you immobile guys in the first half he ha 67 yards rushing(escaping) on for 51 yards and a score.

Luck is the best QB to come out of collage in almost a decade he is the total package has the "IT" factor in spades and if the bills ever got him it would be the best thing to happen to us lowly bills fans since kelly left. the guy is an absolutly great QB.

you comments on Luck just make you irrelevant.
