Let me get this straight: you're discussing 3 picks out of 3 whole drafts, and then accusing others of cherry-picking?

Also, your argument still lacks the context of the situation. What should they have done with the #8 overall pick in 2013, knowing then only what they knew at the time? Maybe trade down, add an extra 2nd, and take a shot at a QB?

What about all of the other picks in the 2013-2015 drafts?

    Woods - 699 5tds @ 10YPC is hardly special for a a second rd pick.

    Kiko - Very good pick

    Goodwin - LOL

    Duke - LOL

    Gragg - 3rd string TE

Watkins - top 4 picks should be good

    P. Brown - Solid pick

Henderson - Rated the the 2nd worst tackle by PFF.

As you so appropriate put it: not hard to understand at all when it's not cherry picked to fit your narrative.

Not sure what you're saying here but he's hit on very few players Dareus, KW, Mario, Bradham, Gilmore were all here.

  2. I will miss Fred as much as anyone. The guy personified Buffalo's Rocky-Balboa-lift-yourself-off-the-mat ethos, and it's sad that he will not be on the roster if (when!) we make the playoffs this year.

However -- not to knock any other posters -- I find very odd the comments that Fred was waived to keep Bryce Brown on the roster so that Doug Whaley can "save face". Whaley strikes me as a guy earnestly trying to improve the roster. But more to the point, the Bills traded their 2015 4th round pick for Brown. Lost in the tumult of the last two days is that the Bills also waived Ross Cockrell. Cockrell was a 4th round pick in 2014 -- i.e., he cost the Bills the same as Bryce Brown. If Whaley was trying to save face over a 4th round pick, shouldn't he also have clung to Cockrell?

Anyhow, I hope Fred has a good season with whomever he ends up. And I hope nobody on the Bills wears #22 for a while ...

4th round picks are cut all the time. However, a new GM in charge of rebuilding picks a bust QB in the first rd, then trades another 4th for a RB that's done nothing and blows another one on a guys who cant last a full two seasons looks way worse. Not hard to understand at all when it's not cherry picked to fit your narrative.

    I don't get this logic.

They needed a potential franchise QB, and they didn't have anyone on the roster that fit that description. They had to take a shot at somebody, so they took the guy with the best measurables, who also happened to be smart and had a great work ethic.

They didn't pass on anyone that looks even close to a potential franchise guy, and they even traded back and got Kiko in the process.

Whaley also isn't letting EJ's draft status stand in the way of real competition.

What, exactly, is the problem here?

There are a lot of big QBs who work hard. Did you watch him play one game in college? Anyway, I'm not going down the EJ rabbit hole but no one considered EJ a possible franchise QB. So there's that logic. Ask the Jags, Vikings and Titans about reaching for projects at QB.

There were more than a few players that were selected in the first round that have been pro bowlers in position of need (Nuke, Fredrick, Trufant, Reid,Rhodes would all be starters here). So reaching for a bad QB potentially cost us another good player. So there's that logic.

QB is the most important position in all of sports. Missing that badly precedes anything Whaley does until there is a winner on the field becasue according to many, he was left some talent.

You don't get the logic because there is none... ;)

    Go on...

I'm not opposed to Fred making the Wall. But Schobel should be there before Fred. Hansen was part of very successful teams, which is perhaps why 3rd best in sacks got him the spot. Schobel is #2 all time, but played for crappy teams. Fred is #3 all time with yards ... on crappy teams.

I think there's a little more to it than just yards when it comes to Fred. Safe to say Schobel, while a good player, didn't bring that. He belongs on the WOF.

I watched Tyrod quite a bit in college and the one thing he does is make plays. He's amazing when he gets out of the pocket and has a rocket arm. His accuracy wasn't great and he didn't read the field well but I'll chalk that up to how Beamer used him. Hopefully a few years behind Flacco and some great offensive coaching he's learned something. I really think he starts.

  6. you are "hoping" he lets us down?

What's with the insult? "Unlike you, Yolo, I call them like I see them" Huh?

After 30K posts I'd expect you to be less sensitive. The way I wrote it could be confusing but the way it was meant that Bills fans hoping that Karlos will be good will let them down. FWIW, I don't have to hope, Karlos is a guy who averaged 4.6 when he was counted on as being the guy and then lost his spot to a true freshman and had fumbling issues. He runs straight up and down. He's not good. Hope on!

  7. you are "hoping Karlos Williams will let a lot of fans down?" Mark your words? What kind of post is this?

Unlike you Yolo, I call them like I see them. I've been doing it for years on this board and correctly. I actually watch college football and can tell you that Karlos is an average RB. So I'm saying, mark my words, Karlos, besides beating woman also sucks on the football field and this move will be a bad one for the Bills. What are you not getting exactly?

  8. Cutting Jackson is comparable to losing a SuperBowl? Some of these comments are amazing.

The sinking feeling in my stomach says so yes. He's a better RB than anyone on this roster not named McCoy. Boobie proved he can't handle the load and Please remember this post, hoping Karlos Willimas will let a lot of fans down. He was an average tweener at FSU who lost his job to a true freshman. He's not a RB, he's a athlete without a true position and also has had fumbling problems. He will bomb mark my words. There is no replacement on this team for Freddy, not in a backup role or a leadership role. Terrible move.
