I was there Wednesday with my wife and the one thing that really stood out to us is that there are no changing rooms or areas for people to try things on. To us that seemed like a pretty big oversight.

I disagree. I think with a changing room a lot of $100 jerseys would be walking out under sweatshirts, etc. There's a lot of very expensive things that would disappear. I do however think more mirrors are needed. They only have 2 by the hats. None on the other side of the store by the jerseys.

This is such a great post/observation that I felt compelled to acknowedge it.

If you have not yet seen "The Brady 6" documentary from ESPN (via Netflix?) that chronicles Brady and the 6 QBs taken before him, you should really do that. Especially if you think he is overrated. One of the best documentaries I have ever seen.

It's hard for some Bills fans to admit ... but how can you not have the utmost respect for Tom? And I agree that his arm has improved tremendously over time. A rough start this year notwithstanding, it is the best combination of mustard and accuracy as you could ever need, yet it wasn't always that way when he came out of Michigan.

Maybe, just maybe he made a deal with the devil...

A pro, and leader, in every sense.

  3. The guy has been healthy and a top performer for this team while being a classy professional.

Now people are going to start finding things wrong with him? Pay the man the money he deserves and not worry about the FS position for years.

It's a degenerative condition. This isn't me looking to find trivial things wrong with Byrd. This is a legitimate concern.

" there is at least a 40% chance a player with those risk factors will eventually require hip surgery or other treatment for degenerative conditions."

Everyone is ecstatic that Jarius Byrd is back but why is everyone so willing to throw a big contact his way?

He has been diagnosed with the same hip problem that Percy Harvin has that has at least a 40% chance of requiring hip surgery. This after Byrd has already had problems with and lost playing time because of his hips. Maybe the Bills are doing the right thing in not throwing him a huge contract with a ton of guaranteed money.

"Harvin hadn't appeared on an injury report with a hip issue since Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2010 season. But every NFL team that examined Harvin at the 2009 scouting combine knew he had impingement and tightness in both hips as well as weak abductor muscles, two people with knowledge of those examinations told USA TODAY Sports. The people spoke on condition of anonymity since the results were not released.A study published in January — co-authored by Vikings team physician Christopher Larson, Tennessee Titans team physician Thomas Byrd and hip specialist Bryan Kelly — suggests there is at least a 40% chance a player with those risk factors will eventually require hip surgery or other treatment for degenerative conditions.Another player from the 2009 draft, Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd, showed similar signs on X-rays at the combine and ended up missing the end of his rookie season to have surgery for a labral tear — the same type of injury Kelly is to fix for Harvin today in New York".

The Cincinnati Bengals rank first in player arrests since 2000 at 40, following them are the Vikings (40), Broncos (35), Titans (32), Buccaneers (28), Chiefs (27), Jaguars (27) and Browns (26) respectively. All these teams combine for a 775-888 record and one Super Bowl win (Buccaneers XXXVII).

The good guys of the NFL are the New York Jets with 11 arrests, followed by the Cardinals (11), Eagles (12), Giants (13), 49ers (13), Bills (14), Cowboys (15) and Patriots (15) with a combined record of 861-801 and five Super Bowl wins (Giants XLII, XLVI; Patriots XXXVI, XXXVII, XXXIX).

  6. I thought I was the only one that noticed this. I'm curious about another station as well. I cannot believe the Bills are so blatantly ignored on a daily basis. The 2 most recent times were when Sheppard was traded and all morning they talked about was hockey. And then the Monday morning after a 3 days Bills rookie camp, I turn on the radio hoping to hear some thoughts or insider information from someone actually attending the practices and once again it's hockey and Tiger freaking Woods and Sergio Garcia. I literally couldn't believe it. I knew immediately that that was what was on the front page of the Buffalo News sports section, because that's what they'll always talk about. I for one could care less about golf or the rest of the Nhl world, especially after the Sabres season is over. I want to hear about the Buffalo Bills. From someone that actually attended the practices. I want to hear about how EJ Manuel looked. Why Da'Rick Rogers was getting no catches. On Kiko Alonso flying around and hitting his teammates. On how easily Goodwin ran past everyone. So then my next alternative is to come on here and I get to read about posters bashing the Bills, or fighting like children amongst themselves, or policing the boards like they own them and no one else is entitled to have an opinion unless they devote their entire existence to the site and have 5000 posts. I just want to get easy to access, quick information about the team I grew up loving. Some posters are very knowledgeable, and others provide valuable links to other sites that are extremely informative and interesting. I thoroughly enjoy their posts. I listen generally in the morning to Howard Simon and at 3:00 to Schopp and the Bulldog. Those are when I'm driving to work, and driving home. I would love to listen to Murph but I'm home trying to spend time with my family. I wish WGR would move John Murphy to an earlier time. I'm sick about listening to days upon days about hockey and the 5 million games they play. I may be forced to just trying to listen to recordings of the John Murphy Show. I even wish the Bills would post more videos of the practices. 3 minutes just isn't enough. I would even pay to get access to watching practices live or to even watching recordings of them. Well I guess I'm rambling about pretty much everything, but I am 46 years old. I love the Bills. I'm a season ticket holder. I've been to both Dallas Superbowls. I've spent thousands of dollars on Superbowl tickets to watch my beloved Bills get annihilated while listening to heckling and jeering from boastful Dallas fans. My children are barely even interested in the Bills because they've never seen a winning team or the Bills in the playoffs. But I hang on to the past hoping that the Bills will become amazing again in my lifetime.

  7. It will without a doubt be Nassib sometime in the 1st round. And contrary to several opinions on this board he is nowhere near being a clone of Ryan Fitzpatrick and he will be a very good NFL QB. He has a strong arm, quick release, throws the ball on a rope, is intelligent, and knows and will run the Bills system efficiently and effectively. He goes through his progressions quickly, is extremely knowledgeable in film study, hardworking, durable, passionate for the game, hates to lose, and is a blue collar player who will be a very good pick for the Bills and Buffalo. That is my prediction. Barkley has nowhere near the arm of Nassib, appears to lob most of his throws, and will not be the Bills pick. Nor will Geno Smith.

  8. Concerning Jay Skurski's article in the Buffalo News today titled "Bills' Whaley part of fact-finding missions, " Mr. Whaley is quoted as saying "I always tell people my job is to make Buddy's job assistance easy as possible. I want to go out there - and for lack of a better term - betthe foot soldier to track down all the information. I need to take all the information out there, funnel it to the best three or four choices and give Buddy the options to make that choice. It's been the same since I got here. You got to go in there with eight guys that you want and you say 'heck yeah, I'd love to have that guy at 8.' So you're happy no matter what happens in the draft. Everybody says, well is draft day all crazy and stuff? If you set your board right and you're comfortable with it, you just sit back and let the names peel off. Then you say 'well out of those eight guys, that's the guy left.' That's what we want."

I don't know if I'm reading too much into these statements, but to me it seems like a very passive way to approach the draft. He's more or less saying we find eight guys we like, then sit back and wait and then take whoever is left over. I don't want that in our draft room. I don't want our scouts and GM "sitting back." I want them actively monitoring what's going on, making calls, discussing options, and doing anything and everything to improve their draft any way they can. What it sounds like to me is that in no way whatsoever will they attempt to move up or down in the draft. It sounds like they are completely locked into pick 8 no matter what, unless maybe someone approaches them. And "It's been the same since I got here.". I just can't see this happening in the New England draft room. I can not see Bill Belichick just sitting there and peeling names off.

Am I reading too much into this, an unprepared, off the cuff statement? Or have and will the Bills just let the chips fall where they may? Are they completely locked into pick eight? And will they just passively sit back as the draft progresses waiting for their turn to "peel a name off the board?"

  10. The Bills have absolutely no say in who Nassib hires to help him prepare for the draft. I doubt that Paul Hackett asked his son for permission to be hired to help Nassib.

It is definitely NEVER in Nassib's (or anyone's) best interest to not put your best foot forward.

The pay difference between the 8th pick and the 10th pick in round 2 is many MILLIONS of dollars.

Nassib might think it'd be nice to play for Hackett/Marrone in Buffalo, but I am 100% certain that he would be thrilled to get an opportunity to play anywhere else in the NFL. His focus is on getting better and trying to be picked as high as possible in the draft.

Thank you very much, that was a very detailed and intelligent response. That was what I had figured but I just couldn't understand that with the thousands of other people he could have hired, he just happened to choose our OC's father. I realize he may know him or have worked with him before, and I know he was a great coach as well, it just still struck me as odd. Thanks again.

  11. I actually like Nassib and would have no problem at all if they drafted him with the 8th or subsequent picks. My question is "What does having OC Nathaniel Hackett's father coaching him mean?" I mean if the Bills really do like him do they want him doing well at the combine or in the Senior Bowl? It seems kind of crazy to me to have your OC try and make the quarterback you like do better at the combine so more teams become interested in him. You would almost think they would want the exact opposite. Maybe I'm just reading too much into this. Or maybe they're not interested in him at all, but do like him as a person so they actually want him to do as well as possible for his own personal gain. If Nassib really wanted to play here, to be reunited with his old coach and offensive coordinator would he ever intentionally tank any part of the Senior Bowl or the combine so he could slide to the Bills in the 2nd round? Would the coaches ever suggest this to him if they really did want him as well or is that beyond ludicrous from the perspective of a player trying to earn money who is also represented by an agent? What is the pay scale difference between being taken with the 8th pick, to a trade up or down into the bottom of the first, to the Bills selection in the 2nd round? I'm just curious for my own knowledge.

  12. Interesting views from 49ers fans on why they lost:

    Donte S**tner

I thought our secondary turned in one of the worst performances in SB history.

Whitner was terrible in first half. Just plain awful.

Whitner is HORRIBLE in pass coverage.

    Putrid safety play.

    Reasons we lost:

    1. Whitners first half coverage.

    2. Mental mistakes.

    3. Whitners first half coverage.

    4. Not playing safeties deep.

    5. Cully getting beat.

    6. Whitners first half coverage.

    7. The last 3 plays were just wtf.

    8. Whitners first half coverage.

It's not merely sour grapes from Bills fans.

  13. I have been reading this board almost continuously for the last month trying to garner as much information as possible concerning who the Bills might chose in the upcoming NFL draft. I have heard multiple theories that include such players as Ryan Tannehill, Matt Kalil, Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Riley Reiff, Cordy Glenn, Jonathan Martin, Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Luke Kuechly. For me the decision, and the decision I believe the Bills will make is a relatively easy one.

I believe the Bills are more than happy with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Last year he played amazingly well in the beginning of the season before he was hurt and the offense was devasted by injuries. These injuries included the offensive line, most notably the tackles and center (Eric Wood was a huge loss), the wide receivers, and the running backs. All of these players and positions were playing cohesively as a unit and playing at a very high level. I believe the Bills are also relatively ok with their left tackle Hairston, their wide receivers as long as they can stay healthy, and their cornerbacks, especially with an improved pass rush.

The problem with the Bills was most notably the rush defense which was ranked 28th in the league and gave up an average of 139 yds per game, this and the lack of a pass rush. The shortages of pass rushers has been adequately addressed. The player that will help the rush defense the most and the player that the Bills will draft will be Luke Keuchly. His leadership, ability to read defenses, passion for the game, tackling prowess, and ability to cover in the passing game will make him an invaluable addition to this team. All of the other players and positions are also important but I think the biggest need and the biggest room for improvement is in the linebacking corp. We will address cornerbacks, tackles, a wide receiver and a quarterback in the successive rounds.

Now actually to my question. Like I stated earlier I know all I need to know or care to know about all of the above players. What I am more concerned with learning about is day 2 players, and maybe even some day 3 players that the Bills may be serious in aquiring. I just got done looking at Mike Mayock's mock draft and saw that he had Jeff Allen OT Illinois ranked 36th, only 2 spots below Jonathan Martin. I've read smatterings of things about Jeff Allen but nothing that would allow me to adequately guage his value to the Bills. I have included a link that has helped a little and may prove inciteful to some. http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2012/4/13/2941137/dallas-cowboys-2012-draft-prospects-illinois-tackle-guard-jeff-allen

Now I would like to learn about any other players (including links to relevant articles) that anyone thinks would be possible and viable draft choices of the Bills on day 2 or 3. Any incite into this on the eve of the draft would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
