  1. I don't mind that BB.com puts a smiley face on everything (it is just another source of information). They have a good site and were one of the first to put a really good NFL team site together.
  2. The time to go after McNabb was when he left Syracuse. Instead, we had Rob Johnson for a couple games and then Flutie Fakes. I can't figure out why the Bills do not aggressively go after SU players that are really good (e.g. Marvin Harrison - Dwight Freeney). Going after star SU players in the draft would spark the interest of all of central New York and expand the Bill's market eastward.
  3. Continuing to suck probably would not help tickets sales. The Bills are like a off-Broadway show in that they have had a really bad director, casting agent and ensemble with no star power. Spiller gives them some star power and might make the drive to RWS less of a bother for fans within the blackout zone. But I am with you in that if the Bills miss the playoffs again in 2010, just take a knee for the last few games and move up near the top for the Locker/Mallet sweepstakes.
  4. Not sure, but TE's play might have been affected after he was sacked 18 times in the first 5 games and then knocked out in game 6 against the Jets. This was after being knocked out in 2008 against Arizona. One more strike this year with no quality protection at LT - just might put him out for good.
  5. This is what the plan is starting to look like, but who really knows? To somehow think that everything has been addressed in one draft is ridiculous - just as it is ridiculous to think that there will not be more pain and suffering if the Bills line anybody up at LT that is on the current roster. Maybe some people forgot what happened last year when Trent Edwards was sacked 18 times in the first 5 games and then knocked out in game 6 against the Jets. Sure, we might have some great players in time, but for the sake of whoever lines up at QB, a quality experienced LT might not be such a bad thing to have until the newbs are up to speed.
  6. Going into this year, descriptions like: lost his confidence, lost his nerve and more than anything else - shell-shocked are generally not the terms that you would ideally like to associate with your starting QB. It is what it is - and sure the Bills will field a team this upcoming season, but this was the year to make the defense better and see who can play on offense - and maybe next year it will be time to enter the Mallet or Locker sweepstakes.
  7. Ralph Wilson went on record and said that all we needed was someone to take the heat off Evans - that was the missing piece of the puzzle and they signed TO. What they didn't plan on was the disaster that was the OL - which still has some doubts at LT.
  8. Buffalo Rumblings is like BB.com - all the news that is fit to print as approved by OBD.
  9. It looks like the new staff have it figured that Levitre, Bell or Wang can handle LT. You gotta feel sorry for Trent Edwards or whoever lines up at QB with those three newbs at LT learning on the job-trying to protect the blindside though. How many concussions has Edwards had?
  10. Levitre, Bell or Wang at LT? Not sure how many starts that equates to but am really tired of seeing our QB get pummeled into the ground from the LT position...and oh yeah, that 15+ million that was spent on Evans and TO last year...what did did that accomplish? 30th in the league in passing (612 yards for Evans - his worst season ever).
  11. It's not that this line can't be good, it is just the Bills should bring in a real LT to help protect the QB/win some games while coaching and getting the newbs up to speed. 30th passing in the league last year is not getting it done.
  12. Besides Kirk Chambers, Geoff Hangartner, newcomer Andy Levitre and newly signed undrafted Cornell Green (now with his 8th different team in about as many years), only Eric Wood (10 starts), Demetrius Bell (8 starts) and Jamon Meredith (4 starts) have seen any NFL starting action. The remaining lineman (Nick Hennessey, Andre Ramsey, Jason Watkins & Christian Gaddis and rookies obviously) have not started any NFL games. Bell, when healthy, was shaky at best - at LT. So the idea that you don't need a quality experienced LT to protect your QB's blind-spot has still not been addressed (some say - the most important position on the field) and it doesn't matter if you have Lee Evans or TO or Brandon Marshall - when your QB is not protected. As a result, it appears that there will be no QB controversy this year (much-less any big risk getting the ball down the field) - as the Bills will probably need all 4 QBs after each one gets beat up behind a bunch of newb linemen. Trent Edwards (if he starts), is probably only one more Pat LaFontaine hit away from another concussion and will be the first to go down - based on his previous concussions received behind the past musical linemen game the Bills have played. Then insert Fitz and so on. This will be another learning year for the OL and maybe the only QB controversy we will have is - if the Bills will have enough QBs to make it through the year.
  13. Most Bill's fans were happy when the Bills resigned Evans. Not only did that mean they valued Evans, but that the Bills appeared to be committed to using him in the passing game. This thought was further reinforced with the signing of TO - which was made because "All we need is another WR opposite Evans to take the heat off of him (and our passing game will be good to go)". What happened next was the Bills thought they could line up on offense without an offensive line. The idea that you don't need a LT to protect your QB's blind-spot has still not been addressed - so it doesn't matter if you have Lee Evans or TO or Brandon Marshall - when your QB is not protected. What makes sense it that there will be no QB controversy this year (much less a risk getting the ball more than 10 yards down the field) - as the Bills will need all 4 QBs after each one gets beat up behind a bunch of newb linemen.
  14. JP, despite all his faults, was able to get Evans the ball and for that, Evans was able to sign a new four year, 38 million dollar contract, but last year, he was invisible. He had his worst year as a Bill in 2009, putting up only 612 yards.
  15. Injuries happen all the time and McKelvin was a good selection because Buffalo usually gets their DBs through the draft and do not have a history of signing CBs to 80 million dollar deals (see Nate Clements - who was also hurt last year). This is why the Spiller pick was good because RBs get hurt all the time. If San Francisco (Nate Clements), Washington (Haynesworth) and Buffalo (Lee Evans) had it to do over again, I am not so sure that everyone would want to spend the 10 million dollars a year on these players.
  16. The Bills went out and spent a lot of money last year on WRs, but did not have the prerequisite pieces in place first...like an offensive line. Evans is a somewhat of a luxury at this point until the Bills get the fundamental building blocks established on the line of scrimmage. That doesn't mean that I would necessarily trade him, but if so, please make sure it is in the NFC.
  17. The Bills will continue to be at the bottom of the league in passing no matter which WR is signed if there is no time to pass the ball. Further, any QB that starts for the Bills will likely end up like Trent "concussion" Edwards - from all the blind-side sacks coming from the LT position that still has not been addressed.
  18. there was much talk about how all Lee Evans needed was another WR to take the heat off him...so they signed TO for 6 or 7 million...how did that work out?...like we even had an passing offense last year after finishing 30th in the league...and is why most fans wanted the OL addressed this year - so shell-shocked capt. check-down could make more than a 5 yard completion.
  19. Some fans that do not have the time to visit with each prospect or view tape would like to know that their favorite team is headed in the right direction. Nobody can predict the future, but it is interesting to see how the "experts" have viewed this draft.
  20. Evans could still be arguably the best offensive player on the Bills (not counting Spiller), but last year he was a disappointment. Sure, he has had a bad supporting cast, but go back and watch the film...he did not seem to come back to the ball or get open as much as you would like to see your 10 million dollar investment do. Maybe I am just mad because I had him on my fantasy team for a short time and he and every other Bill were worthless last year...
  21. Mel is becoming just another source of information in the long line of analysts that have appeared in the last few years. He has the distinction of being one of the longest running draft analysts and was interviewed by Tim Graham. Here are some other ratings: The evaluators are ESPN's Mel Kiper, Clifton Brown from The Sporting News, John Czarnecki of FoxSports.com, AOL Fanhouse's Chris Burke, Pro Football Weekly's Nolan Nawrocki and CBSSports.com duo Pete Prisco and Rob Rang. Buffalo Bills (composite grade Kiper's grade: C+ Brown's grade: C- Burke's grade: B- Czarnecki's grade: C Nawrocki's grade: B+ Prisco's grade: C Rang's grade: C+
  22. Evans was invisible last year...his fault, someone else's fault...whatever - he did not earn his 10 million dollars for last year IMO...
  23. Sure Evans might be guilty of coasting after signing his four-year, $37.25 million contract extension, but guys like Steve Smith and others rely on their speed and route running to make plays regardless of how tall they are. Yeah, bigger might be better in most cases, but don't sell this guy short - unless he continues to coast.
  24. Here is a different perspective...
  25. Here is the link to the Cory Chavous piece on the Bills Draft in case someone missed it:
