  1. The last time I went to a Bills game at the Ralph, the one thing that really offended me was that there were all these people enjoying themselves. What gives? Don't they know that we are still involved in conflicts overseas, people are unemployed or underemployed, starvation, disease, the list goes on and on. This is no time for merriment! How dare they actually have fun during times like these?!

  2. Oh big of you, are you for real or just joking? Helping out the homeless is the last thing on tailgaters mind most of the cans are crushed and bottles smashed making them nonreturnable. If you want to help out the homeless work in a soup kitchen and if you want to pay Cadillac entitlement to the "underprivileged" well you're living in the right state.

Just so you know, you can return cans that are crushed. Just not in the machines.

  3. Any one who objects to race being brought up in any or all issues is automatically white trailer court trash. Gotca Mister open mind.

No, but someone who thinks - "Minorities have so many more opportunities than others" probably isn't too worldly.

  4. Guys, I feel the pain, trust me!

Its not the actual trading of Marsahwn Lynch it is the direction that bothers me.

Once again the Bills made a move AFTER THE FANS BOUGHT TICKETS.

Had the Bills traded Marshawn for a player,I would feel much better,at least we got something we can see, this move is for the future, but who's future? L.A, Toronto ?

We were sold on a few changes and an inspired new team under Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey.

I have watched 6 teams do this over the last 20 years, 4 moved!

The Bills better hold a marking meeting soon and figure a way to keep the fans otherwise you have a dwindling fan base and a franchise streamlined to sell!

I am more worried about the team in Buffalo then ever before.

You guys don't deserve this, it appears to be a fire sale, yet Aaron Maybin keeps cashing those checks. I guess there are no takers on that trade.

As I was driving in to work this morning, I was thinking the same exact thing.

  5. Spoken like a true Harvard intellectual. :P

Not sure what that means, SUNY product here. All I know is that we already have Socialized Health Care. The only difference is that now, only the people who pay for health insurance pay for everyone. If someone needs care,.. they get it. The cost of people that don't pay gets folded into the people that do. I've payed for it for 20+ years. If there is a national health care, I'll end up paying less per year.

  6. Okay, now I'm angry. Not only did I have to read some right-wing horses#!t by the OP (like any administration hasn't grown the size of government since I don't know when, and I'd rather it grow to give health insurance to everyone instead of just blowing up people who are brown). But this Bills team is just awful,.. and I mean awful,.. and I don't see it getting better any time soon. AS it turns out, we need a WR as well. Lee had just an awful game,.. and I mean awful.

  7. thanks swampy, and let me say this:

    (4) my perspective on this may be slightly different - i do not think that becasue it's just a game is a factor in whether the bills stay or leave; i have to think that mr. wilson has recieved many, many lucrative offers to move the bills in the past but he has not done so. the reasons may vary from offer to offer but the fact that the bills are still here says something in mr. wilsons favor i think - if it were all just about business/money then one could say that the bills would have left a long time ago.

My point about this was that if it was just a game, Ralph would have been financially unable to keep the team here for this long. Buffalonians have been using (and paying for) the Bills as an escape from the reality that is Buffalo for a long time.

  8. swampy - help me out here - i must not be making myself clear because you are equating apathy to what i have stated and that is not the case - at least that is not the case i am making here.

apathy is when you just dont care about a given situation or topic - i did not nor would i ever say that i don;t care about the bills - in fact i have stated just the opposite in this thread.

my contention is "having the intellilectual ability to understand that it is just a game and not what is most important in life" - does not preclude one from also - "being able to be emotionally invested in the bills by caring about them and being angry at them at times; laughing during the good times and crying during the bad times". they are not mutually exclusive. and being able to do all of that does not equate to being apathetic.

I agree with all of this. But we are being told by some people that we are not allowed to get angry. Anyone that truly cares about this team has every right to be angry. I'm not saying they have to be or even should be, but if they are, who am I to judge?

If it was just a game, the Bills would have left Buffalo a long time ago.

  9. i am sorry your understanding is so limited to "either or" - one can get angry AND one can care very much AND one can realize that it is only a game - all that is possible - not contratictive - in fact it is enlightingly congruent.

also i will state again, the font size is for me - i have a slight visual impairment - and it allows me to preview my post so i am sure of what is being typed in my post. - so no i will not turn down the font size and no i am not pretentious (neither minorly nor to the extreme).

your lack of depth of insight, coupled with your inability to grasp this simple concept is frightful. however i will try again, the two are not mutually exclusive. they are not "either or" scenarios.

I completely disagree, and I bet every sports team owner and sports writer disagrees, no matter what they say. The opposite of cheering for my team is not cursing my team, it's apathy. No owner or writer wants that, because no-one is shelling out their money for that.

  10. ROTFL!

Guys get to demand millions of dollars to play it BECAUSE it's a game, entertainment, and people are willing to pay to be entertained.

Would you pay $350 to watch a scientist at the bench working on a drug to treat cancer or MS?

Didn't think so....it ain't an activity that lends itself to good watching.

If you're paying and not being entertained, vote with your feet and find other sources of entertainment.

    It is JUST A GAME

In the mid-'80s, after years of mediocrity, two back to back 2-14 seasons caused massive fan "voting" and attendance at home games plummetted

Anyone think it's an accident at that juncture the franchise shelled out the $$$ to produce a higher-quality, more entertaining team in the late '80s - mid '90s?

    I don't.

Not entertained? Don't like the product?

Cancel your tickets (or don't buy), cancel your NFL Sunday Ticket, and send a letter to Ralph Wilson and the Bills home office explaining why.

Express your dismay that more wasn't done to upgrade the team this off-season.

Vote with your $$ and your feet and learn to love soccer, or UB football, or go for a walk or something.

    It's the American way.

Like I said, I already stopped paying. And I know it's a game, but don't tell me it doesn't mean anything.

Maybe I made myself more clear in this post over on SabreSpace. I wrote it after last year's season opener.

  11. God I hate when people say "it's just a game". If it was just a game, guys wouldn't get to demand millions of dollars to play it. If it was just a game, I wouldn't have to pay $350 to watch a crappy internet feed of it.

If we are paying to be entertained and are not getting entertained, then we have a right to be angry. And I don't want to hear how I should just watch and enjoy the game of football, because that is not all we are being sold. They sell us "The hope of winning" every year, not just the game of football.

  12. This is the worst that I can recall. Something about those awful 80s teams was at least fun. Maybe it was because they were still somewhat of a young team. Now, they just kinda feel like they are that old biddy at the end of the bar who's been ridden hard and put away wet. She doesn't realize that her looks have gone and wears clothes that are too young for her. She ain't hooking up with any promising young fellas fresh out of college. She can only land broken down over the hill guys that don't have a place anywhere else.

  13.

    He's making sense.

As soon as the Bills start winning, that is when I will believe that anything they do makes sense.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you'll never fool all of the people all of the time.

When you have to try this hard to make us understand how a certain move is good for the team,.. it's probably not a good move. How many more moves do we need to be convinced are good for the Bills? Haven't we had our fill this past decade. I'll know a good move when I see it.

  14. Like I mentioned earlier, I think the OP has some affiliation with the Bills.

Furthermore, the OP states that no one here really understands contracts. Then someone mentions they have negotiated pro contracts before. Then the OP attacks his credibility. The OP wants it both ways.

And to build off another persons point, according to the OP, the fact that most people were pissed when Pat Williams was let go was also group think lol.

    Now I'm depressed.

  15. Do you understand they can just cut him two years down the road with almost no penalty? Do you understand how much Stroud and McGee are making? Do you understand that it takes some time to adjust from a 4-3 to a 3-4? Do you understand they have little chance of landing a top OLB in free agency? Would you prefer to spend one of the first two picks in the draft on an OLB rather than QB/OT?

You must work for the Bills PR department don't you? It's the only thing that makes sense to me about someone trying this hard to justify Kelsey's contract.
