  1. IMO, they had the personnel to be the 30th ranked offense as well.

The quick banishment of WM, the aggressive spending on o-line FAs, and rapid ascent of Edwards from third round clipboard holder to starter were the first steps in addressing the problem. The addition of a viable #2 WR and rehab of Royal's knee should change that talent deficit this year...

Say what you want... Willis was a tool. Lynch is a Major upgrade!

EDIT: And that's sayin alot cuz WM is pretty good.

  2. This might be a stupid question, but are we sure Peters is holding out for more money? Everything I've read says only that Jason hasen't shown up to camp..and Parker is unavailable for comment. All of the writers (and posters) assume it's about money, but the only quote I could find remotely dealing with the actual participants in this was this,"Peters has not commented publicly about the dispute. His agents, Eugene Parker and Vincent Taylor, have also declined comment and have not returned numerous messages left with them by The AP over the past three days." I'm just wondering if this is really what his absence is all about...unless someone can show me a direct quote from one of them about wanting more money. I just couldn't find one.

  3. The responses are about what I'd expect. Those of you who have Jauron pigeonholed into a certain "philosophy" just don't know what you're talking about. He doesn't call the plays, and he doesn't demand a certain style of playcalling. He wants and expects his coordinators to find the players' strengths and then play to them.

This baloney about Jauron believing you build a team from the secondary is just that -- baloney. I'd like to see ONE quote from Jauron that supports this ridiculous assertion, because merely pointing to draft picks decided by a committee doesn't cut it.

Clearly, the team the Bills take to the field in 2008 is light years beyond the team that took the field in 2006. Jauron is blamed for taking too many DBs, but doesn't get the credit for the overall improvement in the roster? Make up your mind, Bill (and others). The organization under Levy/Brandon/Jauron has done exactly what they should -- build the talent base. Fairchild was a poor choice at OC to implement Jauron's REAL philosophy, and for that Jauron deserves blame. Certainly, Perry Fewell and Bobby April appear to be decent coordinators, and it looks like Schonert may be the OC who finally "gets it" with respect to finding and playing to the players' strengths. Of course, Jauron won't get credit for any success that occurs.

I really don't understand why so many of you seem to WANT Jauron to fail -- where does this come from? Your comments are irrational and don't take into account all the factors that determine a team's success. It's hilarious, or perhaps pathetic, that some of you actually place blame on Jauron for his comments at a postgame press conference -- as if that means anything to anyone.

I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that if the Bills are successful this year, you'll determine it was because the players succeeded in spite of Jauron. If they fail, it will be the result of Jauron's failings. Such are the arguments of the unreasonable. I believe Jauron's words speak for themselves, and are indicative of a very intelligent man who also knows a lot about football.

So what you are saying is that Jauron is basically like the kid who sets up the pieces on that game with the metal football field and just watches them vibrate to see what happens. To think that he has no say during a game is rediculous. I want him to have a say. Heck, I'll take him just throwing a review flag once in a while. At least then I know he's watching the game.

I agree that he/they have put together a much better team and I really want him to succeed, But I saw too many things the last two years during games that really had me scratching my head and can think of two maybe three games where I believe we were outcoached. What is it that you have seen in him during games that makes you think he is the coach that will get us to the playoffs. If his only skill is assembling a great team then he should be a general manager, not a coach.

  4. I haven't been around here long enough to be able to tell if this thread is a joke or not. If it's a joke then fine. But if you are really ready to give up on Hardy after two preseason games then I am just baffled. He's 6'7" and had over a thousand yards and 16 touchdowns in 13 games last year. It was his first 2 NFL games ever and if that is all it takes for you to write someone off then you really need to find something else to do until September 7th. If it is a joke then I am sorry and carry on.

  5. dude the point is when people are crying where is james hardy they dont understand what preseason really is, a joke. its like the pro bowl for vets and established stars... clear enough for u???????????

I really didn't see anyone crying. They simply asked the question where was Hardy? What did he do last night?...no crying...just a question. And seeing as you said that the pre season is for the coaches to find out about certain plays and or players, I would think that that would be a reasonable question to ask as he would be one of the players they would want to find out about.

  6. RR has always shown us that he can be great, but he is kinda streaky. He'll have great games where he catches everything and scores. And then he'll disappear in other games. He also has never shown that greatness in a game that matters. I keep thinking of the Titans game where he didn't think to keep his feet in bounds. How do you make it all the way to the NFL and not have that ingrained in your head. With that said, He played great last night and I hope he carries it over to the regular season.

  7. The problem I have with this post is that it doesn't give us the number of other coaches who weren't good enough to be allowed to coach for more than 100 games. I'd rather be at the bottom of a list of good coaches, than at the top of a list of bad ones. I agree that he is lacking in certain areas that I hope he corrects this year, but I am really curious to see what he can do with what I feel is the most talented Bills team in years.

  8. Almost every single thread turns into Peters and Favre around here. I just want to be the first to start a thread and say enough already. I'm tired of hearing about and talking about both of them. Let them go take a long walk off of a short pier holding hands for all I care. The sad thing is, it will still continue

It's not just here either. ESPN and the NFL Network are doing the same thing. As if ESPN wasn't already almost unwatchable.

  9. Jauron wasn't the OC or playcaller last year -- those duties belonged to Steve Fairchild, who is thankfully gone now. Get your facts straight. There is not one shred of evidence Jauron influenced what plays were called by Fairchild last season. Not one.

Not decideing to influence playcalling...is influencing playcalling.

You still have made a choice"

  10. I am not saying he does not matter (far from it!)... but there are a lot of nuances involved here. I hope they all come to their senses and work something out. My suspicion is that Peters will show up before the 8 August deadline... we'll see.

Actually, I think they already have worked it out and Peters knows he's getting more money, but they told him to stay home and get completely 100% healthy. That way we would all be talking about him and not the sure to come Quarterback Contoversy. At least this way, that won't happen until week 2.

  11. Yes. remember the giant game?

If Peters doesn't play this year, the Bills will be forced to compendate with a TE and/or a RB to account for his loss, and postpone the hospitalization of Trent (or yes, JP). This will take offenders out of the play and limit the available weapons.

If you disagree with every word I post here, please trust me wrt the above.

I think we lost that game because of Jauron, not Peters. When the weather got bad, Caughlan was smart enough to not throw the ball and Dick wasn't.

  12. IIRC Peters got a $5 mil signing bonus for his last deal. So if he feels he is worth a new contract now, that means we've been paying almost six million a year for a RT who played half of one season and a LT that didn't finish a season. Up to this pointI think he owes the Bills money.
