  1. No. LT would be a bigger need then a DTor TE in the first. You would have to take an oline man in the first. Definetly not a TE. A TE is more or less a luxury item. It would be a pick if you felt like that was the last piece to the puzzle. Bills are missing a few bigger pieces.

Now what i would do is trade your third rounder (from Peters trade)and a fith for Schefler.

    1a-Best LT-Oher

    1b-Best OLB,DE,orDT-Mathews,Ayer, or Jerry

    2-Interior Olineman-Robinson

3-Best OLB orDE left on the board and which ever you didn't take in the first.

3b-trade that pick and 5th for Schefler.

4-probably go for a 'raw' Safety prospect here. Bryan Scott is ok but definetly not the longterm solution

    6and7- best players left.

Thats what i would like to see. But all of this is contingent upon the Bills getting the trade done soon for Peters. So they could pull of the Schefler trade.

  2. I think we started to see the Colts decline last year. Not to mention Dungy leaving. I think he saw that the end was near for them. Jags are a mess. They do not have a qb. Oline is suspect. Tayler left. Matt Jones wasn't an integral part but still was a wasted first rounder. There D is still good but isn't what it was with Stroud in the middle. That leaves Tennesse. Very good defense, but once again they lost Haynesworth. Kerry Collins is stable but one good hit away from retirement. They have a very very pedestrian Offense. Mix all that together and i think the Texans have a very nice shot at the division. A lot does depend on Schaubb stepping up. I got to watch him here in Atlanta when he played for Vick. The guy seemed to have it all. This could be the season he breaks out. The have a very good defensive front seven. They do need help on the Oline, and some secondary issues. But this coul dbe the season they make the playoffs finally. Id love to see them make it and Dallas sit home again. Not as much as i want Buffalo in it.

  3. Our 2nd round pick is at #42. None of the top 4 tackles will be available by then. Even the fifth best tackle, Eben Britton, is not expected to be available at #42. If we trade Peters we would absolutely have to use our pick at #11 for an offensive tackle.

Jon Runyan - coming off knee surgery (and is not expected to be ready to practice until July) - is a free agent.

worth looking into as a stop gap while a rookie OT is brought up to speed?

San Jose i think you are right on the money you go tackle with number 11. And then you let the guy play. Throw him to the wolfs. No stop gap necessary.

  4. So who is your starting LT? A player from the second round? If you trade Peters you can not allow yourself the luxury of TE in the first. You have to make one of those two picks in the first a tackle. Then with your other one go defense. In the second go back to interior oline. Then in the third go with more D and a TE there if you want.

  5. After the pass rush, OG is a SERIOUS need IMO.

Not only do we not have a starter, we don't have backups. I think the only way to legitimately stop Owens and Evans is to get to Edwards before he can throw the ball. With us having a large hole at LG, a new OC that we don't know how good he is, not knowing what we're getting from Peters, and no solid backups at OG or OC that can come in and play WHEN a starter goes down, I view the interior of the line as a SERIOUS concern.

I think we need to draft AT LEAST two interior lineman, but preferably three.

I think you have some depth in Chambers. It also sounds like Bell is going to see a lot of action in preseason. And could make the final roster as depth if he performs well. But you are 100% correct in the fact the Bills need to spend a high pick(round 2) on an interior guy. And if Peters is dealt then round one could be used for a tackle. You then got to go OLB with your other first, from Peters trade. Then go Dline in third. Trade the other third rounder (from Peters trade) and a fith for Scheffler. Fourth pick up a safety to develope for a year and play STs.Sixth and Seventh take best guys available.

  6. Isn't Wilson the player that changed positions to help the team in 2007. Yes it also ment he had a better shot at making the team. But he was receptive to the request of the coaching staff. In the first game he started he went out on Monday night against Dallas and played his butt off. Picked Romo off for a T.D. Now it doesn't mean he is the second comming of Ronnie Lott, which he obviously isn't. But if Peters had one once of his character he would be the best football player in the league.

  7. Its a combo of both i think. Like you said the Bills have four 'need' areas. Oline LB Dline and TE. Depending on who is available when you pick you take the best guy for that area/which one(s) is the most pressing.

Then you can in the mid to later rounds take a guy that is not at a need positon necessarly if you think he has a lot of potential/best available . He could one day be a starter, is just raw. In the mean time he either contributes on ST or play on the practice squad.

  8. I love the mock drafts and given the Bill's recent lack of success it seems like that is all that I seem to look forward to from about mid November to April. The problem is that it is very rare when the Bills actually make a move that most of the draft "experts" predict. How many had Whitner going to the Bills? I was married 3 years ago on draft day and I distinctly said "who?" after they took him with the #8 pick just I was going out for the ceremony. It was not someone that 95% of the experts had predicted. The point I am making is that everyone has an opinion and the Bills always seem to do something different than expected. For all I know, they could go for a QB this year even though I think they need a DE, LB, OG or TE!

I hear ya man. I was actually on my bachelor party in Vegas. We had an all night epic BlackJack game going. WE had lost track of time. I looked up just at the right time to see that not only the draft was on but the Bills were picking. We had sat down at 1130 the night before to "play just a couple" hands. I am by no means a big gambler, but me and my two friends and cousin had maybe one of the funniest nights of my life. Then when they drafted Whitner i was like huh? I quickly proceeded defend the pick to the t.v when Mel and his hair tore it apart. That was my clue it was time to go get a nap.

  9. I agree. This would be the most ideal scenario. Hopefully we would be able to get Philadelphia's earlier pick at #21, but if they include a 3rd as well, we would probably receive their 2nd pick in the 1st round at #28. Our draft could look something like this:

    #11: T, Andre Smith, ALA

#28: DE, either Michael Johnson or Robert Ayers

    #42: OLB, Clint Simtin, UVA

    #75: OG, Herman Johnson, LSU

#85 (from Philadelphia): Trade it to the Broncos for TE, Tony Scheffler

We would get our replacement for Peters who would be a rookie, but based on Peters performance last year, Smith could equal Peters performance or better it. We would get our pass catching TE. Some depth at LB. Dockery's replacement at LG. And help at DE.

That is exactly my point. Turn the negative Peters situation into three starters next year. God knows we need an upgrade of talent in more then one position. I would love to have a LT with Peters talent but w/o his attitude. Saying that i am not 100% sold on Andre Smith. Yes i think he has the talent, but am a little concerned about his thought process. For me i like the kid Oher. Then Robinson in the second. You would have a very young talented Oline for years. With Bell possibly developing into your RT of the future. You already have Butler who when healthy is good. And i think Hangartner will be very solid and a big upgrade over what we watched last year.

The Peters trade gives the flexibility to pick up the pass catching TE Scheffler with your extra third. Might have to throw in a fith this year. But i would be ok with that. And it would leave you your second first round pick and your third round pick to upgrade the D. This too me would be a perfect scenario.

I just wonder what Peters has to say before people will understand he doesn't like it in Buffalo. Maybe when he pulls a 'Willis' and shoots his mouth off about Toronto.

  10. I watched him play at Vandy. And was always like why is this kid at this school. Nothing against Vandy accademically, it is be far the best school in the confrnce. But Vandy is by no means where great football players usually come from. That is starting to change under the new coach. But this story makes a lot more sense, as to why he ended up there.

Him in Chicago is gonna be fun. I predict you have more drama their then we see in Buffalo with Owens. Uhrlacher gave him a less then warm welcome. Orton had already won over the guys on the team. Now Cutler and his whinny ways are going to have a struggle fitting in. But who knows maybe Uhrlacher sits him down at some point and tells him men play this game not little girls. Shut up and play football and everyone will like you.

Cutler doesn't remind me of a Jim McMahon type of guy. And that is the last qb the Bears had that the fans there loved. The minute he starts getting booed i will wait to see his reaction.

  11. I don't want the deal to "suit me", I want a good deal for the 2nd most important position on the field. If Philly wants him I ask for both their 1's. I settle for their best #1 and their #2. No worse a deal than this.

You probably arent going to get more then that. Just saying. And the extra third would help, maybe you could send it and a later pick to Denver for the TE Scheffler. Whe i say suits me just fine is because i like it a lot better then the alternative. Peters sitting out another whole offseason. Showing up at some point out of shape and a waste. Sounds more and more like he doesn't want to be in Buffalo. Get the most you can get for him. And i say get it done sooner rather then later. That way you can start to plan your draft better. Also maybe pull of the above mentioned trade. What you want and what you can have are two different things. And that is your opinion about it being the second most important position on the field. Cards made it to the Super Bowl this year with Gandy. Yeah he did get worked in the SB but i think all of us here would settle for a playoff apperance sometime this decade.

  12. KOK, I'm really getting that 2000 OL feeling right now, especially if/when Butler gets hurt and if/when Hangartner ends up being another Billy Conaty. Too bad Corey Hulsey is out of the league.

Its only a massive hole if they dont address it in the draft properly. Plus i also am drinking the Kool Aide about Bell. I think he migh tbe the mystery piece.

The Bills will definetly draft an offesive lineman in the first round or two.

  13. the guy is a dumb as- blogger and knows jack sh-t about the inner workings of the bills.

I am not saying he is the second comming of Christ. But Tim did break the T.O signing on here i think about a half hour before anyone else. So the guy does have some cred.

We aren't getting both Phillys firsts, unless they dont want them because of monetary reasons. Which i cant believe that is the case.

Phillys first pick in round one and then there third would suit me just fine. You would then have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. Could get 3 starters. With two of them being immediate impact type players. And two more that could be quality depth developing into starters for next year.

  14. exactly... Nothing new here at all. I still think the Bills will have an opportunity to sign Peters for that matter.

They have had the opportunity to get a deal done for over a year. Peters made it pretty clear last year he wanted a new deal. The two sides cant agree, sorry but at some point you have to start a bidding war for him like Denver did for Cutler. That will be the best way to get the most for him. Come right out like Pat Bowlen did for Denver and say you are seeking a trade for him.

Let Peters go somewhere else and be happy. And Bills can get some young talent. Philly thinks they are a piece or two away from a Super Bowl. McNabb isn't getting any younger nor is Westbrook. Peters could step right in and help solidfy them as an early favorite in the NFC. They would give a 1 and 3 for him.

  15. I don't see anything new from reading this text than from what we all ready knew or were speculating about, or is there?

It seems to me that this is just added speculation. Not to say that it won't happen, but nothing new here

No you are right its what we have all been speculating. However Tim Graham talks to diferent people inside of different teams. He would have a much more valued opinion then the rest of us about what i sgoing on. Not saying he knows everything. But odds are he has real sources inside different originations

  16. Dude are you totally delusional? If the Bills decided to trade Peters.....They would be very very luck to get a low

1st round pick for him.. Thats it, no extra picks. I don't even think they would get a first, more likely a 2nd round for him. So your little dream of us getting two firsts and a 2nd and third, is just that.....a dream.

Tim Graham is reporting that the Bills will probably get a 1 and a 3 for him. Would be great. We shall see

  17. If Peppers goes to the Pats he will either be a cancer who gets 15 sacks per year or a great guy who gets 15 sacks per year. either way, the bills get crushed twice by the Pats this year. if brady is healthy and they have peppers... I wonder if some team like Arizona would trade divisions with the Bills... at least the Jets didn't get Cutler..

Peppers has never had 15+ sacks in a year. In 07 he had 2.5 sacks. 2006 he had 13 and in 2005 he had 10.5. Personally i think Peppers is way overrated. And this isn't a case of him comming from a crappy team that will all of a sudden have a break out year surrounded by great talent. Carolina has a very good defense.

As far as Taylor goes. Good to make the call like the article says. But if he wants more then 3 million a year then no thanks.

  18. The Pace signing with Chicago was the best thing that could have happened for Buffalo. Pace stated he did recieve an offer from Philly. Philly seems like they would be the most obivious choice. Bills get best LT on board at 11. Use the extra third in a trade with Denver for Schefler. Go defensive front seven with second first rounder and second round pick. Then get another interior lineman in the third. Ah one can dream.

  19. He has the same build as Tuck. Looks great and is a workout warroir. Honestly dont believe he will be there, but crazier things have happened. Either way Bills could be sitting in cat birds seat on draft day. Either to get a guy they should not of had a chance at. Teams in front of the Bills take all three the 'good' qbs. If some of the qbs are still on the board, Bills could make a trade and get some more picks.

  20. The one other way the Pace deal could help the Bills somewhat, is now there are no other big name LT left. This could help slightly. Pace aknowledged that Philly had made him an offer. A trade for Peters could be more likely now. Philly can either wait for the draft or make a trade for Peters. They are out of any other FA options at this point i believe. I am sure there are some C list quality guys still around. But if Philly wants a LT with a resume and doesn't mind paying for him, Peters is there guy.

  21. If by "Russ and he boys" you mean Marv Levy (the Bills GM when Cutler was drafted), you are right, they didn't miss the boat on Cutler...they couldn't, cuz they had already missed the boat on Whitner, on their way to missing the John McCargo boat... I wonder how much either of them would net in a trade...but you are right, his stats aren't "that great"... I mean a guy throwing for 4500 yards, 25 tds/18 ints, seven 300 yard games, 62% completion percentage, named to a Pro Bowl...pretty pedestrian..

I was actually talking about this time. Trading for Cutler. And sorry, you could also argue that he had a great coach in Denver played behind a great line and had good wrs and a good TE to throw too. Factoring those variables in,then yeah i would say there are some questions about the guy. Also the way he has handled himself since Shannahan left is questionable at best to me.

He has an uphill battle in Chicago too. Uhrlacher gave him a luke warm welcoming. In his statement about Cutler he mentions the fact that he thought Orton was a good qb. so roll your eyes all you want my friend. But Cutler hasn't proven squat yet to me. Except yes he has some talent but he also has a big ego and needs to learn when to shut up.
