TD needs to read surf the net more

This is from Bill Simmons who writes for ESPN's Page 2. This is his NFL preview from before the 2002 season (Bledsoe's first with the Bills). He used quotes from Caddyshack and just put this on his site because of Rodney Dangerfield's passing. I just find it hilarious that some sportwriter who is basically just a causal fan can see this and our GM can't.

8. "It's a little harsh ... here, cannonball it. Cannonball it right back. And then one more right on top of it. Cannonball! Cannonball coming!"

To Drew Bledsoe ... nice guy, quality QB, someone who could definitely make the difference between a 7-9 team and a playoff team ... and someone you definitely don't want running the show with a shaky offensive line. Quarterbacks are like boxers and porn stars; after a certain number of games/fights/movies, they just aren't the same anymore. Trust me, I watched Bledsoe for nine years -- he can't buy himself time to throw like Donovan McNabb, he doesn't have Kurt Warner's release and he can't salvage broken plays like Favre. If Buffalo can't protect him, he won't help them this season nearly as much as people seem to think.

And this one:

Buffalo (5-2) -- Another chic Sleeper, mostly because of Bledsoe and how they finished the season (hanging in tough in every game -- they were a gambler's delight as a scrappy underdog every week). I just worry about Gregg Williams -- whenever those career assistants become head coaches, they always seem to end up with 6-10 teams that lose heartbreakers every week. Throw in a tough schedule and Bledsoe's dubious crunch-time abilities and ... well, I don't have a good feeling about them.

It's just a shame that TD couldn't realize this. The fact that they wouldn't go after Pete Kendall is just killing us. Just thought this was interesting and wondered what everyone was thinking.

WHO IS PETE KENDALL ??

Castoff from Arizona, Offensive Lineman, NY Jets starting right guard. 10 year veteran. Denny Green wanted to make an example, used Kendall, TD passed since he wasn't "A good fit " or some other such rubbish. We looked and saw nothing, the Jets looked and saw a stud. Again TD's evaluations are somewhat suspect.

Well the one thing I will say for TD is this. It isn't just TD whiffing on this stuff. We have a supposed big time GM type in Modrak who has a lot of influence, we are supposed to have good scouts (debateable) and all of these people are supposed to decide TOGETHER on who we bring in here and who we don't.

It's not just TD, it's the whole scouting and management department. It's all bad right now.
