H.R. 10

Get ready America, Big Brother has set his sights on YOU.

Thanks to the spectacular recommendations of the 9/11 committee (which played right to the fears of the uninformed), we are now getting the "9/11 Recommendations Implementation Act."

Some highlights:

Section 2173 will allow airline passengers to be screened against lists containing "all appropriate records." Appropriate records will be determined by the bureaucrats. Care to guess what that means? Right to privacy? Not post 9/11.

Section 3052 allows the federal government to set standards as high as desired to determine who may or may not obtain a driver's license. Keep in mind that you need a driver's license to do just about anything in this country.

Section 2142 would allow the U.S. attorney general to promulgate any regulations he desires concerning (a) what employers must submit the names and fingerprints of all employment applicants to the FBI, (B) what standards the government will use in approving or disapproving the employment applicants, and © whether or not the government's "disapproval" will prevent the applicant from being hired.

There is nothing in section 2142 which would prohibit an attorney general from (a) requiring the resumes and fingerprints of every employment applicant in the country, (B) disapproving them on flimsy basis or for that matter, any factor he viewed as not being politically correct, and © prohibiting any employer from hiring an applicant thus blacklisted.

Once again, our government's unwillingness to look at the big picture (itself being the largest part of the problem equation) leads to more loss of freedom and further spiraling into the abyss.

Keep up the good work, Democrats and Republicans. Contact your Representatives if you don't want this abortion of freedom to see the light of day. Or turn on another reality show and shove your head a little further up your ass.
