ajzepp Posted March 26, 2006 Share Posted March 26, 2006 I don't know if anyone else is a fan of 'Five for Fighting', but 'America Town' is one of my favorite albums. Every track is good. One song in particular, "Jordan", may be one of the best songs that nobody's ever heard. It's about a guy who's envy of Michael Jordan is much more intense than he realizes. As the song progresses, the instrumentals coincide with his mindset, and by the end things get really intense. I think the song is brilliant... I just think he writes good lyrics, the songs are well-arranged, with some really strong performances. That reminds me, I heard there is a new John Mayer Trio disc out.....one of the docs at the hospital I work at recommended it to me. You heard it, by chance? Just as Five For Fighting got it's name from the sport of ice hockey... And you mentioned that song... I don't know why... The bassist, Tony Levin, let his new girlfirend write a song and convinced the band to release it. Richard Wakeman, the keyboardist did not want to release the song and almost qut the band beacuse of it. In the end, it was a two edged sword for them. I hope the girl was at least hot. Bet that sounds awesome on your new speakers, eh? Their lastest album called "the battle for everything" is not as good but still worth getting. They are also really good live.
