boater Posted Friday at 05:13 PM Posted Friday at 05:13 PM NY's Draft State Energy Plan is at this link: https://energyplan.ny.gov/Get-Involved/Comment also at the link, is a link to a form to submit your feedback. Many people heard about all-electric new home construction starting this January. What many people don't know, replacing natural gas water heaters, stoves, furnaces after 2030 is prohibited--if your gas equipment goes kaput after 2030, you must buy an electric solution (most likely a heat pump). Many people don't know this and many people don't know the ramifications. For me, a heat pump is a non-option for many reasons I won't detail here. It may be the case for you too. And my gas stove or hot water heater... they can pry those from my cold dead hands. You might also have opinions on: the readiness of the power grid to do this, the price of electricity, the demand for electricity in the age of AI data centers, the ban on what they used to call "clean burning natural gas" etc. You may have all kinds of opinions. Let Albany know your thoughts! 1
The Frankish Reich Posted Friday at 05:18 PM Posted Friday at 05:18 PM Heat pumps are great ... in the right climate. It just won't work for me in Colorado, or in Northern NYS. Probably Buffalo is marginal? It doesn't get as cold thanks to the damn lake effect, but it's close. So yeah, bad plan if it doesn't differentiate Lake Placid from Staten Island ... 1
