He was one of the last Democratic centrists. Although I wouldn’t have voted for Al Gore as president in 2000 if you’d hit me with a wet noodle, the fact a then-Democrat Connecticut senator (who later became an Independent before his 2013 retirement) was his running mate speaks volumes. Now that the Dems have veered wildly to the left and gone all in on their “progressive” agenda, realists like Lieberman have been left in the dust. But he’s still speaking out, to his credit.
