These are two MAJOR things and he is either unwilling to make changes to these philosphies or he doesn't know how to coach this team otherwise. The 34 has never worked since he was hired (actually he employed the 34 in his hiring press conference even before evaluating the team). The hybrid 34 should have been ditched after last season. We clearly don't have the linebackers to run this scheme. The only scheme is 43 IMO. The spread has been solved since the Jets game and Chan has made absolutely no changes - even abandoning the run more! I don't get how players, playing out of their natural positions or not suited to a certain scheme can be successful in the long term.

I am surprised that we don't see any new plays, gimmick plays, new personnel combinations, etc. It's as if he designed his plays before the season started, and he hasn't changed anything since.

You hear a lot of discussion about how Belichick designs different schemes for different teams. Chan definitely seems to have a "one size fits all" mentality about plays and game plans.

To help cover for a defense this bad, you need a running game. CJ Spiller is not a back that can handle a heavy workload and keep the chains moving. It is shameful that the team used the #8 overall pick in the draft on a RB who can't run inside, who doesn't know when to change hands with the football etc..

It's great that he can bust a big play every once in a while but right now they just need a guy who can keep the chains moving enough to make defenses honor the run, keep the opposing offensive posessions to a minimum and possibly get their offense out of rhythm, and minimize the scale of the defeats.

Basically, Gailey needs some Jauron-ball to buy some more time for he and his staff in hopes that Buddy will find some impact players......eventually.

If they keep getting blownout it's going to make it hard for Chan to get the team to buy into his coaching next year and that's always at least half the battle.
