Crack At The Opening Day Roster

Recommended Posts

Seeing that the draft is over, and it seems the Bills are all quiet on the free agent front right now. I thought i'd take a crack at the opening day roster. I know for right now, its a bit pre-mature but im bored so why not? here it goes.

QB - Trent Edwards , Ryan Fitzpatrick , Brian Brohm

RB - Fred Jackson , CJ Spiller , Marshawn Lynch

FB - Corey Macintyre

TE - Shawn Nelson , Derek Schouman , Joe Klopenstein

WR - Lee Evans , James Hardy , Steve Johnson , Roscoe Parrish , Chad Jackson , Marcus Easely

OL - Eric Wood , Andy Levitre , Geoff Hangartner , Demetrius Bell , Cornell Green , Kirk Chambers , Jamon Meredith , Ed Wang , Christian Gaddis , Kyle Calloway

DL - Dwan Edwards , Marcus Stroud , Terrelle Troupe , Kyle Williams , Spencer Johnson

RUSHING LB - Alex Carrington , Aaron Maybin , Chris Kelsay , Aaron Schobel

LB - Paul Posluszny , Kawika Mitchell , Andra Davis , Keith Ellison , Nic Harris

CB - Terrance Mcgee , Leodis Mckelvin , Drayton Florence , Reggie Corner , Ashton Youboty , Ellis Lankster

S - Donte Witner , Jairus Byrd , George Wilson , Bryan Scott

ST - Rian Lindell , Garrison Sanborn , Brian Moorman

Again, im sure its a bit pre-mature but I thought i'd give it a shot at the end of april.

Carrington is definitely a DE, not an OLB.

I'd replace Ellison and Harris with Batten and Moats.

I'd cut one of your OLinemen, probably Gaddis.

I'd replace Gaddis' roster spot with Chris Ellis at OLB.

I'd replace Klopfenstein with Stupar and probably the worst of the three QBs in camp with Brown.

This.

Except instead of getting rid of Gaddis, I'd get rid of Kelsay in favor of Chris Ellis.

Good modifications. Especially the bold part

My only changes...

1. No FB-McIntyre is a waste of a roster spot...I would take Rodney Ferguson or Walter Mendenhall as a power running back (4th option) instead.

2. Christian Gaddis won't make the roster in my opinion. The Bills will keep the other nine (9) o-line

3. No to Klopenstein. Jonathan Stupar is more athletic and a better talent in my opinion as the third TE.

4. Let's separate the positions on the DL.

  • DT's (Williams, Troup, and Harvey (he's a project but he's 342 lbs, a true NT size)
  • DE's (Stroud, Edwards, Carrington, Johnson, and Ellis (I'm assuming we cut overpriced Kelsay and that Schobel retires...I can't see either of them as a 3-4 DE or fast enough to be an OLB)

5. LB's (Mitchell, Poz, Davis, Maybin, Moats, Batten, Harris (I like his versatility...He's 232 lbs, light for a LB; however, he contributes on ST's, can cover people ( a need for an OLB), and he also has versatility to step-in coverage situations)

  • I think Keith Ellison is gone. 225-230 lbs won't cut it in a 3-4 scheme.

6. Can't argue with the CB's, Safeties, or Special teams
