  1. Why do you think that JP was benched? Because he is a better qb than Trent?

Why do you think that the Bills are not getting offered 1st round picks, etc. for an experienced qb, in a league with a shortage of quality players at this position? Because he is highly regarded around the league?

News Flash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JP hops around in the pocket like a fool, overthrows, throws ground balls, whines to the press about coaches, and is requesting to be traded. Oh, and he has lost more than 2/3 of the games he has started. Do you deny any of this? Seriously, let me know. I would love to go over it with you point by point.

As a Bills Fan, you might want to consider getting over this JP obsession. If he had any notable value, he would already be gone. We could sign Rattay, and have a couple of 1st round picks.

JP Losman was another failure by TD. Bledsoe lost to the Steelers, and MM and TD were pissed. They dumped Bledsoe (at a considerable expense in terms of cap dollars) and threw JP in there. He sucked then, and is making, 3 years later, the same mistakes. Oh....but he has a good arm, and likes to clean up.

I hope that you will be able to enjoy the 08 season with Trent in there winning games. I will be loving every second of it.

    GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am by no means obsessed with Losman, but I'm also by no means one of the people who is bowing down to Edwards already with such little evidence that he is superior to Losman IMO. Believe me, I'm not going to say I told you so if Trent sucks, or sulk if he leads us to a bunch of wins, because that's all I care about. I just wonder about the Trent bandwagon being filled to the brim so soon...

  2. I've been posting about the defenses we've faced since the Denver game last year. Here's the simplist way of putting it: there was NO field to be stretched last year. In the first two games I counted Evans as having single coverage 5 times. On 3 of those occassions, we attempted to go long to him and simply missed. Since the Houston game in '06 DCs have made it a point NOT to get beat by Evans deep, knowing full well the strength of JP's arm. Do you know what the EASIEST route to take away from an offense is? That's right. Unfortunately, JP's biggest weakness is not being able to go to his second options with any consistency. Evans' inability to beat double teams with regularity was a contributing factor as well so it wasn't all on JP.

I like the idea of a rolling pocket but you simply can't do that more than a few times a game. Yes it takes advantage of JP's athleticism but it SEVERELY limits the space in which an offense can operate. It effectively reduces the field by 2/3. Again, it's too easy, especially for good defenses, to limit rollouts.

This idea of exploiting JP's arm strength anytime we want would suggest that we should just take what we want. Our offense is FAR from being able to do that. When we can take what the defense gives us consistently we will be able to dictate more often. Unfortunately that requires the ability to read defenses both pre and post snap. JP is just not adept at that for whatever reason. That's not putting him down, it's just an honest evaluation of his ability to read a defense.

    GO BILLS!!!

Even if the coverage did not allow deep balls to Evans that much, there was still another big contrast between the gameplan that JP and Edwards were given. PREDICTABILITY. I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I could call almost every single play that the Bills were about to run as far as run/pass goes during Losman's first couple of games. Then Edwards comes in and Fairchild decides to start implementing different sets, passing in run situation and vice versa, plays outside of the pocket, etc. The offense Losman was given to perform under was nowhere near the same as the one he ran with success for the most part in 2006. Like I said, Edwards played well enough as a rookie to keep the job coming into camp, but it's going to take a lot more to get me convinced that he is a better option for this team than Losman if theyre both given a chance to play with their strengths.

  3. Anyone check out that film on Quentin Groves???? Holy crap, that guy looks like the best defensive player available in this draft. Why is this guy getting no respect?

Look at Harvey's reel, then check out Groves'. Harvey looks like a rather pedestrian pass rusher, while Groves looks like a ferocious beast chasing down the QB. Why do we want Harvey and not Groves again????

Bills should do themselves a big favor and trade down, grab Groves then pick up Kelly WR and Bennett TE with their two second rounders. Why is no one talking about this guy?

I felt the same way when I watched the film on Groves and Harvey. As far as Harvey goes, all I saw on tape was their other end (#49, cant recall his name) wreaking havoc on opposing offenses and Harvey sort of coming in and cleaning up the mess if you will. Groves seems like he could be a difference maker.

  4. JP had the same opportunity to benefit from the same improved OL and RB. In fact he had first and third crack at it. He didn't take advantage of the opportunity.

    GO BILLS!!!

It is true of course that JP had the same players to work with as Edwards last year, but the gameplan that Fairchild (I'm assuming) forced him to work with was essentially tailored for him to fail IMO. We all know Losman's strengths and weaknesses by now, and three step drops/short passes are clearly not one of his strengths. Stretching the field and letting him get out of the pocket to use his athleticism are, and the playcalling, particularly early in the season, just didn't allow him to do that. I do think it's Trent's job to lose, but I also do not believe that Losman was given a very good opportunity to succeed last season at all.

  5. getting them more money by signing contracts he has no intention on honoring is NOT "making his clients happy".

its selfishly sabotaging and controlling the league for a few more bucks.

that's the worst part of the modern league, they took all the power away from the owners and gave it to the worst possible scumbags... the agents.

Whether it's morally right in your mind or not, this is still the guys job, and "getting them more money by signing contracts he has no intention of honoring" is part of doing his job well, no matter if you think its right or wrong. Almost anyone in the same position would work pretty much the same way.

  6. He did have a great Senior Bowl. Just about everything I have read states he was shy in run support. I would prefer a more physical CB. Here is The War Rooms take on DRC(I am reading many sights-this is premium info)

    Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

    CB, Tennessee State

    War Room analysis

Strengths: Is an elite athlete, with the physical tools NFL coaches drool over. Is tall with long arms and natural strength. Shows the quickness, speed and fluid hips to turn and run with receivers downfield. Shows the hands to make tough interceptions. At the Senior Bowl, showed quick footwork in backpedal, transitioning to close quickly on passes and using long arms to reach in front of receivers. Shows speed and playmaking ability as a punt returner.

Weaknesses: Is a better athlete than football player; did not play nearly as well in college as he did at the Senior Bowl. At Tennessee State, allowed inferior receivers to separate and catch passes. In college, got upright in backpedal, hindering ability to transition. Lacks natural instincts, and often reacts late to receivers' routes. Shows sloppy and raw technique, raising questions of how well he learns from coaching. Does not play with intensity; does not come upfield quickly in run support, content to allow teammates to make tackles.

Bottom line: Rodgers-Cromartie is a premier athlete who improved his draft stock tremendously at the Senior Bowl. In our experience, most players who knock people's socks off in the spring after failing to impress on film struggle to improve in the NFL. Rodgers-Cromartie must prove his stellar week in Mobile isn't an aberration. He still looks and plays more like the track star he also is -- he won the 60 meter dash at the 2007 Ohio Valley Conference indoor championship. Don't be surprised if an NFL team drafts Rodgers-Cromartie as high as Round 1; we don't recommend it, though, because he is a long way from being a polished NFL cornerback. We wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers-Cromartie followed the path of Andre Woolfolk, a 2003 first-round pick who already is out of the league.

Not the type of player I want on the Bills. Sounds like Deon light

I have to agree with most of that. I'd much rather have McKelvin or Jenkins if we're going to take a corner at #11. Rodgers-Cromartie is 2-3 years at minimum from really helping a team, if he develops. Wonder if he'd be getting this much attention if you took the Cromartie part off.....

  7. he's showing that he is nothing more than a selfish little child. putting himself and his wants over the team a every given opportunity.

no way would i take him on my team.

    especially after his little breakdown.

all the chicken littles who cry about evans being a "cancer" for "speaking out in the media" would lose their eff-ing minds the first time something happened that chad didnt like.

he's a prototypical modern player who thinks HE HIMSELF is more important than the team, or coach.

Maybe if Marvin Lewis and management stopped drafting and signing a bunch of convicts, and started focusing on getting players to help the team on the field CJ wouldn't feel the way he does. He just wants to be on a team that is moving in the right direction, which Cincy clearly isn't. Why is that such an incredible demand? He might be working for it in an outlandish matter, but thats just him. The point is the most trouble he has ever gotten into while in this league is due to over-celebrating, give the guy a break.

  8. Hey Losman's stats aren't far behind Edwards and if he outperforms him...start JP. Its not like Edwards took us deep into the playoffs. I suspect Edwards will come into camp loaded for bear as will JP. JP may very well be auditioning in the preseason for some trade...so he'll be going all out, and Edwards seems to be the kind of guy who will go all out in any event. Should be interesting. Remember we won the AFL title with the famous Kemp/Lamonica controversy raging.

Thats where my opinon is at. I don't like one overwhelmingly over the other, but I still don't think Edwards has done enough to be thought of as the clear-cut starter no matter what happens.

  9. Tell you what smart guy, call up Russ Brandon and say "Stop with the age stuff" because that's what the Bills have been doing for the past 2-3 years....focusing on youth.

Lets see, Stroud's will be 30 in a couple months, Mitchell 29 in October, but because Chad Johnson just turned 30 in January, Russ Brandon will clearly want nothing to do with him. Is that your logic smart guy?

  10. A couple comparisons that I have noticed:

Limas Sweed= Plaxico Burress (Size, Hands, Demeanor at times)

Martellus Bennett= Antonio Gates (Size, Basketball Background)

Brandon Flowers= Champ Bailey (High comparison, but his instincts and ability to step up and stop the run could elevate him to this level some day IMO)

Matt Ryan= Phillip Rivers (Good skills, but makes too many poor decisions and tries to force the ball too much)
