This is really unwatchable football.

Wait, are people actually taking this game seriously? Cause the Bills arent.
The goal today is to keep our starters healthy. Bonus if we can hand NE a win and knock them out of the #1 spot.
We can run every play on offense. Or we can just opt for a FG at an arbitrary time.

This is so much like preseason. I don't watch preseason games anymore... not sure about this one.

Can we pick up an extra point kicking specialist?

No flag for Coleman? He touched the helmet!!!
It appeared to me they mutually grabbed face masks and the refs let it go. Refs just aren't that into it either.

Nah, the Pats are trying. If I was a fan, I’d be furious that they’re going to potentially burn amazing draft capital for a meaningless win
They could just get butterfingers in the 2nd half. Of course they were trying to start the game. It could get ugly.

Huh, I was just thinking both teams seem to want the win
I see some really soft defense. We are trying to get this game over with, win or lose... which is smart. I am not saying some players don't want to make some plays.
-
Both teams are low key trying not to win.

They need a healthy QB controversy. Open competition in camp!

Whoever knocks you to the ground gets the sack. No surprise.
Did he fall to the ground before the 2nd Bills player hit him?
-
Seriously, are they going to credit Von for that? He hit him and then Maye sort of fell into other players.
-
Von still on pace for 17!

If only this were a joke.

I mean, I hope Tua recovers OK but he really should have considered retiring after the concussions in 2022.
Hamlin cannot be responsible for that. He basically tried to "get in front" of Tua and nearly all of the impact force was from Tua's momentum. Other than letting Tua run for a TD there is nothing he could have done.

I thought the Kyle Brandt take was interesting for a similar reason. He said it's hard to imagine that Diggs relationship with Josh Allen or his relationship with the Bills "or both" had nothing to do with this, because both were "mercurial at best". Kyle has been a Josh Allen fan-boy for a couple of years, and we can probably assume he has a bit of "tea" in the pot "off the record" there.
I agree with Nate that Josh's input was probably sought (not his vote as Geary implies, but his input), and that if Josh had said "He's My Guy" and went to the mat, it probably doesn't go down, at least not for a bag of peanuts and a case of that underwear Stef and his brother shill for.
I think Diggs wanted out for a while. Given that there is no reason for Josh to push for Diggs to stay. That is true whether they have a positive or negative personal relationship. Once Diggs wanted out, it was just about finding a trade the team felt benefitted them more than hanging onto Diggs.

Agree there. Just don't ask tax payers to build something for you. Charge all you want for your product but seems tax payers in effect own part of Mr. Pegulas product namely the stadium.
Negotiating lower prices or PSL caps wasn't part of the deal, apparently.

I'm less concerned about Diggs dropping a pass or 2 than his lack of production over the second half of the season. I hope there was a hidden injury that he can recover from. I don't actually believe he doesn't care or isn't trying.

I disagree. I think he did a pretty amazing job with the D considering the endless tidal wave of injuries.
No issues as a DC, but at HC he has some glaring deficiencies.
They are referring to Smiley, the special teams coach... not Clappy, the head coach.

I'm disappointed but not crushed. Of there wasn't a chance of losing, they wouldn't play the game so we have to accept it. I felt like we almost created another epic debacle with the fake punt. It would have been like 13 seconds again. But instead we got bailed out and fought until the end, then lost. So while it is essentially the same outcome as the 13 seconds game (we go home and the Chiefs go to the AFC championship), it doesn't feel as bad. Maybe that's because with the injuries I felt we were barely hanging onto this game, whereas in 13 seconds it really seemed like we had it won and lost it. Whatever the reason it isn't quite as bad emotionally as a game where we blow a late lead or one where we get robbed by the refs. We just didn't make enough plays to win.

Unfortunately you have to punt it in that situation but our punter was also 50% out there which is another head scratcher. Guy shanking punts left and right
One has to wonder how bad Haack looked for them to choose to go with Martin.

In all fariness, there are not a lot of teams recently that can point to their D being the difference in playoff games with the way the NFL is designed these days. It favors the offense pretty heavily. See the Chiefs - Eagles Super Bowl last year.
How can you distinguish "the Bills offense didn't do enough" from "the Chiefs defense made the difference"?
Mahomes and the Chiefs offense scored 27 against an injury plagued Bills defense which was solid before injury.
Allen and the Bills offense scored 24 against a mostly healthy (but less so after injuries in game) Chiefs D that was ranked like #2 in some stats.
I don't see that you can easily say which one "made the difference". If our defense was healthier, maybe the Chiefs only score 20 or 23.

I think scheming works against zone. Against man which the Chiefs play a ton of, you simply need your guys to win their 1v1s. Our guys weren't doing that tonight. You can only call so many versions of crossing routes and rub routes.
He still hit some of them in their hands and they dropped the ball. I saw Mahomes miss some throws, I did not see any KC drops (other than those caused by a defender).

You don’t say. Don’t be glib.If you put any of about 28 other QBs on our team instead we'd have been blown out.

We just absolutely tanked this. And I don't feel bad about it.
