They just need to win the games. They easily could have beaten the Jags, the Jets, the Pats. Despite whatever injuries or drawbacks they've had, they ought to be 7-1 or 6-2 at the worst right now.

I love the fact the talking heads are talking about Cincy being stronger, going to win this game.
WE play much better as the underdog.
Nine of ten pundits at the NFL website pick the Bengals over the Bills, eight of eight pick the Bengals at the CBS NFL website, and seven of ten pick the Bengals at the ESPN site.
That's 24 of 28 total picking the Bengals.

Given all these injuries on D, this is one where it would be nice to see the offense roll.
Just win, and get these players back for the end of the season.

Offer all of our other receivers, Elam and some picks. We will never beat elite teams with just Diggs and a collection of #3s.4s & 5 receivers.
There's a very good reason why Beane is the GM and none of us are.

I just don't know what to make of this board and our fans these days. To the uninformed observer, if you just looked at the threads on the first page you'd assume this was a bottom-feeding squad. The Bills are #3 in scoring offense and scoring defense, +4 in takeaways, and are right in the position most expected them to be when the season began.
Nobody ever won the Super Bowl in October, and history is replete with scads of teams that looked "unbeatable" at this juncture and didn't lift the Lombardi.
Lately, the issue is with <yawn> Dorsey again...bad gameplan, can't get the ball to anyone other than Diggs, yada, yada, yada. What I saw Sunday night was a slow start on offense fueled by an untimely fumble, a drop, and a fantastic tip/interception by the Giants on a pass headed to Knox for a big gainer. When the team returned from halftime they marched down the field twice for TDs and were a fingertip catch away from icing the game.
Is everything perfect? Of course not! But it never is, and crucifying Dorsey on October 18 -- two weeks after he was called brilliant for his gameplan vs. Miami -- is the perfect lens through which to view Bills fans.
Maybe a lot of you really have nothing else to do but sit around and dream up wild conspiracy theories about how Josh could force his way out of Buffalo, psychoanalyze whether Brian Daboll and Sean McDermott have a blood feud, or criticize the Bills for using Diggs as their first option in the passing game.
They lost two games by a total of 11 points!
The ONLY thing that matters is that the Bills grind out wins so they put themselves into decent playoff position, and that they are playing their best football in DECEMBER.
"But it's a fan message board. That's what we do."
Ok. You be you. I'll continue to look at what is going right, share my opinions in an upbeat way, and show some faith in the players and coaches to work on what they need to work on. This can still be a very special season; the league is wide open.
Go Bills!
18-2, Babyyyyyy!!!
Thank you thank you thank you.
Be prepared for a host of replies calling you blind and and fool, then repeating all the things you made fun of in your post.

When things were not working for Daboll he just pounded the rock with Allen as the ball carrier, mortgaging the future of the franchise. I’m willing to be patient with Dorsey, even sacrificing a few Ws if he is able to demonstrate a path to extending Allen’s prime.
There were plenty of times when passing was not working that Daboll continued to try passing instead of "pounding the rock."
Case in point, in 2021 when the Bills' lost to the Jags 9-6, Allen threw 47 passes. They ran the ball with the running backs a total of nine times for 22 yards. Allen ran the ball 5 times; some of those were undoubtedly scrambles.
Dorsey is much more willing to change strategy rather than hit his head against a brick wall.

Watching a 15 yard Cook run doesn't have the same effect on the rest of the offense or defense as a Josh Allen 15 yard run does.
And running Allen instead of Cook offers the wonderful opportunity to lose the franchise QB for the rest of the season. Cook getting the same fifteen yards as Allen is boring.

After three to four years where Josh piled yards with his freaking athleticism, this season, in this first six games, his game is pretty different, very less runs (almost none even where some good opportunities come) and more of a pocket passer if not when he must escape from a sack, but also in this cases, he try to find someone open in a broken play and if none is free, then he wisely throws an incomplete.
Now, i know that most of us were asking for less runs to avoid injuries first and then fumbles, but isn’t too much a change right now ?
it seem that defenses know that he won’t run anymore so their job is a lot easier now.
Maybe adding some good run here and there during every game would keep other D honest and would open the field for our guys.
What you think ?
And what about Josh ? Do you think he’s 100% ok with this new concept or maybe he would just want to be the “real” Josh when chances come ?
I think it's good that he is running less, and fewer plays are being called putting him at risk of getting destroyed by some linebacker or 300 pound DT.
Doesn't mean he can't scramble or execute a called run play now and then. But not as a regular practice, hurdling people and getting lit up on the sidelines rather than go out of bounds.
If he kept going the way he was going, the probability was he'd end up like Cam Newton, career basically over by age 31.

Did you see that “elder statesman” contract?
If he's not playing up to his contract he won't be playing as much, no matter what the contract says.

OK yep they have young players starting, most teams do.
Here are REALLY big contributors / starters that you list will not touch to take a spot from and thier ages are this year
Vonn Miller - 34 will still be here with Cap hit
Poyer - 32
Diggs - 30
Dawkins - 29
Morse - 31
Hyde - 32
Tre 28 - (knee and achilles)
Milano - 28
Taron Johnson - 27
Dane Jackson - 27
DaQuan Jones - 32
Jordan Phillips - 31
Leonard Floyd - 31
So they really are not getting younger they are treading water, as they will continue to be.
Then why is there a thread about it all the time?
I'm not convinced that Poyer, Hyde and White will be starting at the beginning of next season, or at the end of it (though it's hard to say that the replacements for the two safeties are on the team right now). White's not over the hill in years but the two major injuries make him suspect.
Morse is no kid either and they've been grooming Bates to be his replacement. We have yet to see how much Miller has left in the tank; he may recede to "elder statesman" among the pass rushers next year, with many fewer snaps.
The others you list are good bets if they aren't hurt.

well not really they seem pretty stable based on AVG Age
2018 - 26.7 (28th youngest)
2019 - 26.3 (26th youngest)
2020 - 26.1 (23d youngest)
2021 - 26.3 (24th Youngest)
2022 - 26.5 (27th youngest)
2023 - 26.11 (29th youngest)
So seems they are one of the older teams yearly actually.
Yes, if you take the age of the entire roster this is true. You're missing my point. I'm talking about the age of the starters, and going forward after this season.

Part of this is the number of injuries they have suffered, but I think there are signs that the Bills will be significantly younger going forward. Consider the following players who are starting or playing significant snaps right now:
Damian Williams--rookie
O'Cyrus Torrance--rookie
Dalton Kincaid--rookie
Christian Benford--2nd year
Terrel Bernard--2nd year
James Cook--2nd year
Kaiir Elam--2nd year
Greg Rousseau--3rd year
Spencer Brown--3rd year
Plus others who are coming along:
Quintin Morris--2nd year
Khalil Shakir--2nd year
Ryan Van Demark--rookie
Alec Anderson--rookie
Kingsley Jonathan--2nd year
Now we may have doubts about players like Brown and Elam, for sure, and some of these guys have not seen the field much, but at least some and probably many of them are going to be the regulars after this season. The team seems to me to be investing in younger backups to mix with the older retreads and free agents with an eye toward them taking bigger roles in future.
Of course all teams do this, but it does suggest the Bills are trying to stay relevant for the long haul.

Keep telling yourself: I did nothing to cause the Bills to lose. Nothing I or any other fan does has any effect on the team.
I know it's just a joke. But the joke reflects a belief in a connection between the team's fortunes and your life that just leads to misery.

The Bills are not as bad as they looked in the Jags game and not as good as they looked in the Dolphins game.
I prefer to look at the Jags game as a perfect storm of bad circumstances coming together--jet lag, the terrible field turf, bad luck injuries both leading up to and during the game, over-officiating, immaturity of the backups. The coaches are not the issue; they weren't geniuses last week or morons this week. I'm mostly worried about the huge number of injuries. A lot of backup players are going to have to mature rapidly.
I hope, and choose, to see this game as one we'll look back on as a tough loss in the road to the Super Bowl the Bills are going to win in February.

Today is really depressing as a Bills fan. I can't help but feel like the season is lost or at least the SB hopes are. Big injuries continue to plague this team.
Too soon to give up on the team. There are 12 more games. McDermott will find a way to get the DBs playing better. They still have enough good players to win a lot of games.
Some of these subs and young players--Damian Williams, Kincaid, Torrance--are going to get better. Maybe even Elam, though it's hard to have faith in him after today.

Despite all the injuries and penalties, the defense played well enough. The loss is mostly on the offense. It's a game where they had to hold the ball to help the defense out, and score on most of their drives to keep up.
