  1. that averages to $9mill/season. we're $39mil under. that leaves us with $30mil left....

as much as i dont think he should be the TOP paid guy, i think id do it

Increasingly, it appears the Redskins won't have the cap space to pursue Nate. Talk of him becoming yet another high-paid Dan Snyder whore was premature.

  2. I don't think it has got anything to do with Irvin. It is more a fact that both the NFL Network and ESPN just plain ignore the non fancy teams and will spend hours interviewing the personal assistant of TO rather than talking to a Marv Levy or even a Bills player....It is the nature of the business.

    Exactly.

Sirius NFL Radio is the same way. They spend 50-60% of their time talking about the NFC East. Today, Pat Kirwin spent almost 45 minutes of one 1 hour time block talking about the Redskins' cap problems.

They should actually be called Sirius NFL EAST Radio. Tune in on Monday mornings during the season and you'll know what I mean. Ugggh! :wallbash:

  3. Good luck Wade. I always liked Wade and thought he was very good. He did have a winning record. Dallas doesn't deserve such a good HC like Wade.

San Diego is really sucking wind now. They lost their OC, DC and the HC is lame duck.

We'll see now how well Chokenheimer is able to rebuild his coaching staff. SD is so much talent that even Pee Wee Herman as OC or DC might not screw it up for SD in '07. Then again, Chokenheimer is still the HC.

  4. And this might be just a set up to get Bill Cowher next year or the year after.....

Maybe, maybe not. Jones thinks highly of Garrett and likely sees him as the a likely replacement for 59 year old Wade after he retires (or resigns, or is canned).

I don't know if strong-minded Cowher would tolerate Jones' meddling.

  5. Jones will reassert himself as the "armchair" coach, meddling in Wade's decisions. No disrespect to Garrett, but he's already stuck Garrett on Wade as his OC. So much for a HC building your own team of coaches. I wouldn't be surprised if Jones has already told Wade that he's given Garrett "approval" to build his own team of offensive assistant coaches.

  6. Wow, I figured he'd get another shot but I never thought it would be with the Cowboys. Wade Phillips and TO?

I'm surprised I haven't read the "Will he wear a headset?" post yet.

Maybe he'll wear a headset in his reunion with Buffalo in the '07 season. He'll be bringing his Cowboys to Buffalo next season as the AFC East is up against the NFC East.

  7. Strategically makes sense for the Cowboys. They can continue to run the 3-4 defence. And Garrett was brought in to be the OC. Jones told the Fins that Garrett was being considered for the HC or OC role. Jones probably sees Garrett as a potential future replacement for 59 year old Wade.

  8. i have mixed feelings about this

i'm glad Wade got another shot. he's a good coach and deserves it

but i hate the cowboys, they don't deserve a class act like wade. plus i don't know if dallas is the best fit off the field for wade. his personality may not be a good match for the dallas media circus (jerry jones, terrell owens, etc)

So perfectly stated. No shortage of razzle dazzle in Cowtown. No shortage of egos. Does down home Wade fit here? We can only hope that Wade has agreed with Jones on division of responsibilities, otherwise Jones will continue to be head coach "Upstairs".

  9. reported just now on Sportscenter. to be announced tomorrow morning.

our last coach to take us to the playoffs and an all around great guy.

Good Luck, Glad he's in the NFC, hopefully we'll meet him in the Super Bowl.

Good scoop by Sportscenter. NFL Network tonight reported that an inside source was hinting the Cowboys were leaning toward Phillips but they had no confirmation of his hiring.

  10. Good news. It seems that the mark of any (successful) Jauron team is going to be discipline. That is, stay in your gaps, don't do anything stupid, no personal fouls, minimize mistakes, and you give yourself the best chance to win the game.

That discipline with an infusion of more talent strikes me as a winning formula for next year. Playoffs, let's do it!

That's a great summary/synopsis. Let's hope the talent side of it gets help from the draft and sober but successful approach to FA.
