None of this is Beane or McDermott's fault.
Whaley made all of the stupid free agent signings that counted against the compensatory formula and voided out our 3rd and 4th round picks. By the time Beane and McDermott came in, they were saddled with a the decision between cutting several integral players while in the playoff hunt or sticking it out and pushing for the playoffs. They stuck it out and we made the playoffs. Remember?
Cool post though.
Oh yeah, signing poyer and Hyde really set this team back

Just wanted to share this Reddit post from yesterday. A bills fan from India made a meme featuring Peterman. There is something glorious about it.
But the best part is his comments responding to people. He has been a fan for about a year. He wishes he was a fan of another team now (because he didn't realize how bad the team was) but he isn't going back on his decision and is sticking with them.
It is wonderful and made my day

A little more detail as to how it got bills related is this. It has become common in bills Facebook groups for someone to bootleg stream the games live. There was a game this season where the commerical was shown, and some fans repeated the "dilly dilly" while the game was going on. Coincidentally whenever someone said "Dilly dilly" something good happened for the bills right after. So now on all the social media posts people are just posting "Dilly dilly" over and over on anything that is"good news"Normally I'm pretty jive with the buzz Bills terminology but this one I don't know. Even the team's IG page is saying it now.
Can anyone explain it?
So it is basically becoming a superstition

1. Jordan Matthews, Zay Jones, Andre Holmes, and Brandon Tate; are still better than:
2. Marquise Goodwin, Justin Hunter, Walt Powell, and Brandon Tate.
They're both crap. But Group #1 is better overall IMO.
The Bills were able to produce 25 points with group #2 @ Miami last season with Shady injuring himself and rushing for 11yds that game.
A. Lynn >>>>>>> Dennison. The end.
i was mostly blaming the talent, but this has convinced me that it is the design of the offense.... which is a really bad problem. going to be a long season and im sure we will waste our draft picks we have been collecting
-
just being in that division is tough. Though i have a feeling denver isn't going to be "good" this year
-
Well, disappointed how things are looking so far. Best thing it that it has tempered my expectations so I don't get my hopes up that this is going to be a winning season.
We can talk about scheme and best fits, but it seems their talent evaluations are based all on money and personality. Everything else, including talent, takes a back seat.

I like discipline for our players, but before I crucify Dareus I would like to know what rule he broke.. We have an HC that we don't know what his policies are. This very well could have been something really minor and pointless, or it could be something serious.
Either way, I am not worried about it. It isn't like he is suspended. And I don't have high hopes for this season anyway

God forbid a professional sports head coach wants "coachability and availability" from his professional players. Lol.
Is that really too much to ask of grown men who make millions upon millions of dollars? I mean, that is exactly what they're paid for.
Seriously, is there really an issue with this statement?
"If youre not coachable, youre not going to be able to play," Marrone said on Tuesday. "If youre not available, youre not going to be able to play. Biggest mistake I can make as a head coach is put somebody out there that isnt ready or hasnt practiced. Im letting the fans down, Im letting the team down, Im letting you down, Im letting everybody down.""
I hope McDermott is the same way, because you know who else has been that way? Belichick, Parcells, Lombardi and some of the best coaches in the history of the NFL. That's why they win.
(And it's been a huge reason why the Bills don't win.)
I think that the statement itself isn't an issue. But I think that his approach makes him more polorizing than the coaches that you listed.
Belichick is a no fuss, high demanding coach, but he is clearly a good teacher, good communicator, and and makes adjustments based on his players. Marron on the other hand has his scheme and forces players to fit a scheme they don't fit. Just because the player doesn't fit the scheme doesn't mean they are not talented or aren't working hard.
I think marrone is not like the coaches you listed with the exception of being strict with accountability, and a coach needs to be more than that

Great opening for Whaley.
i think it would be perfect for him. He can be a talent evaluator but not make the final decisions (Reid would obviously do that) so it would play to his strengths

We ain't at 200 pages yet?

So, who is this maclin guy?

I'm really surprised to hear the deal fell apart because of guaranteed money. The Pegulas are rich, what do they care? Give him a fully guaranteed 1 year deal
It has nothing to do with being rich. There is a thing called the salary cap
-
Best thing about maclin getting cut is that now the chiefs will suck so bad they will win the first round pick.
Wishful thinking at least. Go bills!
-
But who will have final say on the 53?
God. Of course
-
Not gonna lie, I didnt care much for the schoen hire, but this is a really good one for us. I bet the main reason he is coming here is because pegulas threw a bunch of money at him
-
Old "great pick" Mayock? I love Mike January to March. The week around the draft he becomes an NFL company man... on about all the young men getting to live their dream.
I only missed Rd4 out of the hole draft and Mayock loved every pick.
Pretty much. Jan-march he talks all about the player's flaws, but in draft day it is all about the positives. He knows his stuff, but what he says on draft day isn't very genuine
-
Our quality of posts really have gone down hill.
Your opinion is that the Panthers owner should deny his employee for an interview for a promotion because you have a theory of the bills stealing their draft board without any evidence?
Great opinion.
-
I'll be curious if you feel the same way if Dareus plays up to his talent level this season.
that is a pretty big if
-
Peterman reminds me of Trent Edwards with some upside. I mean that in a good way. Could even be like a dak prescott type. Armstrength isn't as important as it used to be. Getting the ball quick and reading defenses are more important.
also, they should keep all these qbs on unless one of them is definetly not good enough to be here. Never know when an injury bug happens
-
Whatever caused Foster to drop was significant enough for many teams to pass on him. I don't know if it was solely character or if their might have been an injury concern as well. There were also some suggestions that he struggled learning the play book
factor in that we have two starting caliber ILBs all ready, we didn't really have room for a 3rd unless he was a sure fire cant miss prospect.
there is a balance to the high character/talent. talent needs to be factored in too. Look at EJ, you can't get better character than him. Smart, hard worker, really nice guy, did and said all the right things, yet the game was just too fast for him despite everything. Same with Tebow. High character is great, but high character isn't the most important thing. There are some things so bad that you do take a player off the board. but talent should come first, then character
with that said, I love our picks. I question the trade up with that tackle pick, but other than that, great draft
-
if they pan out all hail McDermott if they flop it's Whaleys fault
Pretty much.
I really thought that McDermott was running the show, but those trade ups in the 2nd round implied Whaley was still somewhat in control. I can't imagine na first year headcoach would be making trades like that. he would just stay put and draft who falls to him. That is just an assumption on my part, but I just find it hard to see a first year head coach making those trades in the 2nd round. Those trades screamed Whaley as well
-
If it is just a rumor then rumor should be in the title....

I know I may sound like a broken record at this point, but people should read this if they haven't yet: http://www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/patriots-still-reaping-rewards-seymour-deal .
My point is that we need to think about who we're dealing with here.
Also, as for those mocking the length of this thread and saying that it wouldn't be nearly as long as if SF were the suitor, no sh*t. The reason it's a big deal is the other party--the party that has dominated the Bills for over a decade and a half.
Yup. What sucks though is it seems like weather we match the offer or not, Patriots are the ones that win. They are that much smarter than us and can afford more luxuries than us.
Frustrating as well hell having them in our division. Never seen a team dominate like they do.
If You Ever Want a Top Rated QB Prospect...You Have to Suffer

With all the franchise QBs that are starting right now that were picked outside the top ten, saying we need to suffer is ridiculous. We missed on many franchise QBs in the past 5 years, and if we keep that thinking that we need to pick in the top 3 to draft franchise QBs, then we will miss on plenty more franchise QBs to come
