I’m pretty certain that last year at this exact time you were whining about Beane’s press conference just as you are today — and you had absolutely no idea what he planned to do.

    That’s my point.

I like beane and mcdermott, but as far as their offseasons go, they are pretty predictable. I think this time last year we all knew that there was a good chance we saw Diggs last game with the bills as well as poyer and hyde I think we all knew that White was a goner and we were probably going to repace them with younger and cheaper players becasue we had no cap. And we knew that particular players were going to get extensions. We knew they would let davis walk. The only real surprise was maybe mitch being cut.

I think it is safe to say right now that most of our cap is going to be used to extend current players, re-sign hollins, most of the draft will be on defense, and they will sign competition for receiver. But nothing splashy or exciting.

I mean the dude brings energy and had his moments here

yeah, but those moments were long ago. he was getting pushed around last time and couldn't stick on a cowgirls roster.

How is that different than any other year?

Chiefs look vulnerable this season, so if there was a season to beat them in the playoffs, this would be the year. Sadly, the interior of our dline is a liability more than usual.

And now we may have lost Coleman. Cooper was brought in to pair with Coleman. So while somewhat better, we are back to Hollins starting out the outside which isn't good.

the bills know more about coleman than us. for all we know, we haven't lost him at all or only lost him for a couple of weeks.

We seem to have at least a couple of roster spots to fill with Edwards cut and Smoot to DL

Cap is fluid and can be changed

Cap is fluid, but it would be really tricky to make cap changes and make a trade in the next hour and 15 minutes. They would have to restructure at least one contract if  not more to make room, and there are no rumors of restructuring.

if they are going to pull off a trade, it will be for a player that fits what they already have room for.

a third round draft pick would have been here for four years and inexpensive.  They traded the opportunity to draft a young player to fit in with a young team going forward for half a season.

a third and a seventh for cooper and a sixth.

    I hate this.

a third round pick could have easily been cut in a few years. We are on borrowed time with how many elite years we have with josh allen. the bills need to be in win now mode, not trying to devise a 5 year plan. we have a ton of draft picks next year as well, and getting comp picks.

That's the "by the book" breakdown.

Houston can take on any amount they want, and even trade us cash for a player.

We'll have to see how this shakes out.

houston could take on guarenteed money, but it can't take on dead money. dead money is money that is already paid to diggs, it can't be changed

Check out the chiefs WR room

yeah, but they also have one of the smartest offensive minds leading the offense, and the offense struggled in the regular season and was carried by their defense.

if andy reid was controlling our offense, i would have more faith

why? cuz we are smartly moving on from an aging wr

cause all the receivers we have now are either mediocre or still being developed. And we don't have much resources to make sure we can replace him. We got no cap room, and there is no guarantee we will get good value at drafting someone at 28.  we could be drafting the 6th best receiver at that point, and chances him him being as good as diggs isn't very high.

Was it? I didn't hear anything about him working with Jordan last offseason and I do think there were some signs of regression in some of his fundamentals. That isn't me accusing him of not working hard by the way - I have no idea what he did last offseason but I didn't hear, unlike previous years, mentions of him working with Palmer and I thought it was telling when he was on the media round at the Superbowl he was asked about his offseason workout plans and didn't mention Palmer once. I sort of suspected that relationship had concluded. I'd be interested in hearing to that contrary.

both josh and kyle allen were working with palmer, and it was talked about in preseason in various reports, podcasts, and videos.

Something’s gotta be off with the cap calculation or there are still some more moves still coming because we can’t field a full team right now cap wise according to the cap numbers last updated in this thread.  We wouldn’t even be able to sign any rookies, let alone fill out the rest of the roster.

Yeah, something ain't right. Hoping that it is just because the new signings weren't calculated right into the cap numbers,  because we would probably have to shed another 5 million at minimum to last us until the June 1st when we get the tre white money.
