  1. Sorry for the snide remark, but to cure the problem, use Mozilla or NetScape (If nothing else, it'll say 'Mozilla encountered...'.)

Seriously, if nothing else, it might prove diagnostic.

That's not snide, that's good advice. Less security holes with Mozilla/Firefox/Netscape/Opera.

  2. I used to get Direct TV, but where we moved to, they do not allow satallite dishes.

We can only get two different cable companies in the area, Time Warner and Heartland.  Heartland is awful (it doesn't even have ESPN Classic), so Time Warner it is.  Time Warner is fine, but they do not offer, and it does not appear likely that they will any time soon, the NFL NETWORK.  Sorry, I just think the NFL is screwing its' fans over by signing an exclusive contract for the Sunday Ticket, to be offered only via Direct TV.  When I had Direct TV, I found it less convenient than cable in different ways (I know, I know, many of you swear by it, which is cool), and in a situation like mine (which I know many others are in), I can't honestly just move to a different place so I can get the Sunday Ticket.  Like I said before, I love NFL football, but I am growing increasingly disgusted by how much the leauge takes advantage of its' fans.  I have no doubt, however, that the NFL NETWORK is awesome!  I get green with envy anytime I hear anyone talking about it.... I got personal problems I guess.... :D

Wherever you live, they can't disallow satallite dishes. It's against the law. They can write it into the lease, write it into an association policy, etc, but it is NOT enforcable, per FCC rules. If you WANT a dish, you can HAVE a dish. They can tell you that you can't mount it to their building, but you can easily do something like put it on a pole in a bucket of cement on your patio (for example).

I'm curious what you think is 'less convenient" than cable? I never really considered DirecTV to be more or less convenient than cable -- I just like the service and cost better. TiVo is much more convenient, but you CAN get a standalone for cable instead of using the very cheap DirecTiVo units.. Just curious.

Regarding "not moving to another place," I made sure that in my last apartment and in my current home that I had a clear shot to the sattelite and that nobody would give me grief about it. While it's true that the FCC mandates that you are allowed to have a dish, it's better to not piss off your entire neighborhood if at all possible.

  3. The game was aal palyed weel by the BILLS except for that missed field goal and the 4th down plays which were the last 2 miniutes of the game.

Don't forget the Moulds fumble on the 10. :)

Regardless, unless I see the link to this "story," I'm not buying it. And even then, with some of the shoddy journalism we've seen recently, I'd still be hesitant.

  4. to play man to man. I like our chances with our "D" against their "O". The Bills should be able to hold Oakland below 17pts. My only concern is can we score more? If our running game gets stuffed, what then? Can we pass? I'd like to say yes but, Bledsoe hasn't been good on the road (2-10 on the road). So what gives us a better chance of winning. Our ground game against Sapp and Mt. Teddy or our passing game against their secondary? It'll probably take a little bit of both.

Bledsoe is 2-0 in week 2 road games (Minnesota and Jacksonville). It's a lock! :)

  5. Just saw in todays' USA TODAY that it is possible that the NFL may add a weekly Thursday night game on to the NFL Network, if they can't get what they want from TNT or USA Network.  It is my understanding that not only do you have to have DIRECT TV to get the NFL game package, but also to get the NFL NETWORK.  I don't get DIRECT TV, and can't where I live. This is just the lastet example of the NFL taking advantage of its' fans.  Frankly, I love the game, but the NFL is the greatest example of corporate greed at its' worst.  :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: NFL!  You are the Philip Morris of sports!

That being said, I wish to god I could get the NFL NETWORK!

As has been pointed out, it's available from some cable companies (CONcast for example).

But I'm pretty sure you could get DirecTV. Very few people can't get it if they're willing to work at it. In fact, DirecTV is available to more homes in the United States than cable is! :)

  6. Your $5 goes towards the expenses we have for the tailgate, like the tent/chair/table rental, water/gatorade/ice, and the space we use that Hammer loses from not being able to park more vehicles. The cups are given to us by the Bills for the group ticket purchase. What I'll keep in mind for next year is getting something for those that did not buy tickets with the group purchase, but did contribute to the party fund.

Ahh, ok. I misunderstood what they were for. Good thing there were extras or I'd feel really guilty

  7. I'll add my 2 cents.

I didn't know that there was pop/water/gatorade available. Didn't matter, as I brought my own - but if I would've known, I probably would've had some water instead of just the orange pop I brought.

The ticket girls never came asked me to buy tickets either (I see the trend). I then forgot to buy tickets before the raffle started. Sad, since I was in the tent 75% of the time. Oh well, live and learn.

I got my cup and thought they were pretty cool. Probably should've attached a sign to the box, letting people know what they were for. Lots of people were asking about them.

  8. I've got a bunch of pictures I'll try to upload tonight. I didn't get too many from the tailgate itself (d'oh), but I have a bunch from the game -- including the flyover and Challenger (the eagle) coming into the stadium. Oh, and some pics of the Jills who were cheering right in front of my section.

  9. Hey all,

I've been in NF, NY (my hometown) for a couple of days and there doesn't appear to be ANY Bills stuff in this city. :( We found three or four styles per store, and that's it! :(

Any recommendations (besides Bills Pro Shop) to buy good Bills gear? We want to get a few t-shirts, as well as a sweatshirt for a 5 year old girl. Any ideas? Or would we best better off just buying online?

See everyone in a couple days!

  10. You bastard!  ;)  Why did you have to say those magic words, "La Nova".  Not only are their wings great on most nights, but there pizza is the best I have ever had....

off the diet today, blood pressure be damned

Umm, you quoted the wrong person! I never said La Nova. I've never HAD La Nova (and apparantly won't make the trek this trip either, since it burned down .
