  1. Well if Maybin played four years of major college football instead of slightly over one year like Bennett did, and was the second overall pick instead of eleventh, and was oversized for his position instead of undersized, like Bennett was, we probably could expect more out of him.

Btw, did you just "I'm not worthy" your own post?

The point being we evaluated talent better in the 90's, wouldn't pass on a defensive tackle for a cornerback, etc. Btw I as a Bills fan hope Maybin is lights out :wallbash::unsure::lol::lol:

  2. I really hope fans don't expect too much from him in the first few games. It would be a blessing if he gets any real pressure on the QB on any semblance of a consistent basis before mid season. What we can hope for is signs of his speed and athleticism on random plays that make him something of a factor on that particular play. He's just not going to be used to the intensity, agility, strength, or tricks of the players he is up against in a regular season game for quite some time. He's very young, he's very inexperienced, he's quite small and he missed most of camp. If he has a single sack early in the season it should be a bonus.

Guess we can't have Cornelius Bennett expectations- Holdout until traded from the Colts on Halloween; only to destroy Elway in his first game. My how I long for the day when we had the balls to make deals and draft stars.... :wallbash:

  3. My sons friend just walked in. He has seen maybin a few times ,last time was i n early june at the waffle house in State Colledge. Apparantly he had classes with his girlfriend. Anyway he swears this dude is small and is not even 6-3 . My sons friend is Almost 6-3 and he says Maybin is shorter than him. He says he has a decent size chect and arms no bigger than my sons. Although my son at 5-11 190 does lift alot.. He just cannot believe this guy is a 1st rd pick at De or LB with his size. Time will tell. :wallbash:

Guess your son didn't watch Bruce Smith's Hall of Fame Speech.....

  4. Posluszny looked far more aggressive than last year for the short period of time that we saw him out there. Solid tackling and seemed to be around the ball every play. He even looked a bit psychotic after he dropped the interception.

As for Mitchell and Elison both were caught out of position a few times and looked slow.

Poz was the bright point of last night's game and I am very excited to see what he brings this season.

    Agree

  5. To whoever suggested complaining to Directv about the high cost of the Ticket, thanks. I called yesterday and had the ticket reduced from $270 to $120 and the SuperFan add-on reduced from $100 to zero. That's $250, which in this economy is meaningful. Go Bills.

Good... I am waiting to call those overpriced scumbags tomorrow :worthy:

  6. According to Allen Wilson of Buffalo News, Keith Ellison is "shedding all competition" for the strong-side LB position. Should we feel glad that he is so competitive and smart that no-one can take away his starting job or fearful that draft picks like Bowen and Harris aren't even good enough to challenge the D's weakest link?

Personally, I suspect it's a positive. Maybe he's not our weakest link.

    No

  7. Have had the Sunday Ticket since '98. The NFL (not Directv) keeps jacking the prices up more and more.

I can almost tolerate the raised Sunday ticket price, but the one that really gets me worked up is that they(the NFL again) want to charge an additiona $100 (superfan) just so I can watch it in high def. What a crock. I'm altready paying DTV added $$ for the high def package and a high def DVR. Now, after ponying up $279 for the Sunday ticket, they want another $100!!?!

I don't blame the NFL - it's just being capitalistic. But they need to know that fans are at their breaking point.

I called DTV yesterday and told them to cancel the whole NFL thing, and as soon as my obligation to Directv is up, I'll cancel their service too, since the Sunday ticket was the only reason I got DTV in the first place.

Truth be told, I like the Directv service and quality, but our voices need to be heard.

Happily, a service rep with the authority to do so, offered my a $20 per month credit for 6 months if I'd keep the Sunday ticket & superfan package. OK - that takes my football deal to $259 for the year. I can live with that. Too bad for Directv...the NFL is still getting their full fee, and Directv is the one giving up $120 to keep me as a customer. Not like it's really any skin off their back, mind you.

If you have a team that's in the national spotlight and often on locally, it's hardly worth it to have the Sunday ticket. Suppose the Stillers were my team. They'll probably be on local channels 10 times this season, including all the primetime games. Why would I put out $379 for the 6 games not shown? $63 per game? I'd be better off buying the games a la carte for the day at $44 per Sunday (yes, you can do that), or just heading to the local watering hole.

Question for some of you more in the know about the technical stuff:

Is it possible to split the Sunday ticket cost with a friend by giving them on-line access to the games? Isn't that a feature of the Superfan package? And then, couldn't they just hook up their video cable from the laptop to their plasma TV and pretty much get the same thing? Anyone done that? If so, how's the picture quality? Is it compromised by streaming?

No- the laptop thing is ok- but certainly not something you can "game plan " around. It is good for a novelty but it's like any other streaming audio- a crap shoot. They got us by the nuts.

  8. Does anyone else think that is ridiculously expensive? I could care less about watching more obscure games around the league when they've already got double headers on the regular stations every weekend. All I need to see is the Bills, and whatever game is on the other channel. If you aren't in the area to get Bills games, you can easily watch them online or find a bar/restaurant to go to. I did it for 4 years in college. I don't think I'd ever pay that much for Sunday Ticket when all of the important games are free.

Alot of advantages watching it at home, your own food, beer, ypou don't have to stress about drinking and driving, swearing at the top of your lungs, a Bj at halftime....... Not to mention these crazy bars in Florida won't let you bring your own bong ;) !

  9. OK, I'm nuts. Go ahead and get excited about Henderson possibly coming to Buffalo and getting reunited with Stroud. First, it hasn't happened yet. Secondly, the Henderson-Stoud combo was at it's peak about 5 years ago. Now, they are fine veterans but older and much more banged up. Can they still be great together again? Who knows? Would Henderson be an improvement over Kyle Williams? Of course he would. Sorry, Albert Haynesworth I get excited about. John Henderson - no.

Isn't this just a little more exciting than Williams, Johnson or McBusto?? :D
