Yeah, but given the current state of officiating, and repeated suggestions that the NFL is in bed with Vegas, well, this isn't a good look for the league.

That is a flimsy argument.  Every state pretty much has legalized gambling.  I know the bigger casinos in Vegas like Ceasar's usually set the lines but it is not like it was even 5 years ago when if you wanted to make a legal bet on a sporting event you had to go to Nevada to do it.

The defense against strong running teams has been pummeled.  That is not the mark of a number 1 defense.  They cannot stop good running teams.  The Colts are a very good team that will make a strong push for a playoff position, so I disagree that the game was an outlier.  They were beat by a team with an excellent running game.  The defense continues to show its shortcomings and now the team's best player is lost for the season.  This was a guy that shut down a half of the field in pass coverage.  Because of that, I expect to see more difficulties for them in finishing off the year and I do not view them as a team that others are concerned about facing.

Yet the Colts who you state are very good team has the same record as us.  I agree with the OP, if the Bills do get in the playoffs there is not a team out that is going to want to see them.

as someone who lives in the rochester area, are you sure you may not want to move somewhere a bit more sun laden?  i do love my work and living situation here, (even though i B word about the taxes) but the january to april run is brutal.  cold, damp, and gray.  the lack of sun is what messes me up.  other than that, i do like living in wny.  maybe a bit too routine at time, but i'm comfortable here.

Agreed, after my daughter graduates high school in 4 years I am trying to talk my wife into moving down to South Carolina.  been there on business a few times and really like it.  I am going to double down and try to talk my daughter into going to college down there, maybe Coastal Carolina or University of SC.  My friend and I were talking at the Monday night game, the snow gets over blown here, especially if you don't live in the southtowns.  Yeah yeah we get our 80 to 90 inches of snow but it snows then melts, snows then melt.  This year where I live at least in south lancaster we have hardly got anything.  Middle of December and I haven't picked up a shovel yet.  But....the real thing that bothers me is the cloudy weather and the wind here.  We will go 8-9 days without seeing the sun in the winter/early spring.  It is depressing.  I don't know, I love to golf too, I want to go somewhere we can golf all year round.  Oh and BTW, the taxes suck, I could buy a similar house in SC with $2K in taxes compared to the 9K I am paying here.

I think they will. Same question could have been asked during the 2011 season when OSU was like 0.008 points away from a National Championship slot. Went into the Fiesta bowl against Andrew Luck and #4 ranked Stanford and won.

OSU has never played ND and they will have something to prove.

Should be a good game, have fun and enjoy the nice weather!

I'm going... got tickets, airfare, hotel, car a couple of days ago. Managed to keep it in the budget. Hard to pass up an Oklahoma State v Notre Dame matchup. Both teams were outside-shots to make the Playoffs this year. Should be a damn good game.

Yea, I was probably 1 1/2 when I went to my first college game. My dad is a HUGE Oklahoma State fan (like me) and he went to Dental School at OU, so he had free tickets to games in Norman. He would take me to games and listen to OSU over the radio while watching OU. He took me to the 1976 Bedlam game in Norman (which OSU won).

It will be interesting to see if OSU is excited to play this game considering they were 1 inch away from beating Baylor & possibly jumping Cinci for that 4th spot.  My guess is Notre Dame will be ready to go given the fact they have a new coach that players seem to be excited to play for.

I sold my tickets to the Tampa game on stubhub a couple months ago and was told in an email when the tickets sold that it would take 7-10 days after the event to receive the money. To anyone that has ever sold tickets on here, does it typically take that long? Or do you usually have it within a few days?

I sold my tickets for the dolphins game thru ticketmaster like a month before the actual game and I didnt get my money until a week after the event.  Weird how they do that now, you will probably get your money this upcoming Monday.

Horseshiit. The refs are as guilty as egg-sucking dogs in this case. Timing is everything. When the public can see it but they can't, it is a major issue that needs to be solved.

Not sure where you got this quote but I never said that, not sure how it was posted which is kind of concerning.  I feel the exact same way as you.  The refs stole this game.

    1.  Agree the Bills hit Tom Brady late a couple times that were not called.

    2.  Yes you are a homer on this.

    3.  Same thing, worded differently.  Two times Buffalo was called for penalties that would have converted a 3rd down only to be offset by a Tampa penalty.

    4.  Agree to a point, you wont get all of those, but a couple should have been called, especially if you call the one on Evans in OT.  That one killed me after you don't throw on the others.

    5.  Correct, Tampa had 4 penalties, I think the Bills had 7.  Last week the Bills has 3, Pats had 6.

In any overtime game you will find fans pointing to "this call" or "that call" or "this noncall" etc.   It's the nature of close games, lots of little things could have flipped the outcome.  Not sure I think the Bills played well enough to win that game, I was impressed by the 4th quarter for sure but they underperformed much of the game and should blame themselves more than the refs in my opinion.

I hate when people throw out the number of penalties as some kind of deflection of the agenda of the NFL.  For you to point out the number penalties just goes to show you have no idea what your talking about.  It is when they call the penalties.  My BIL and I were talking after the game and he said Brady gets 3-4 drives extended most games on phantom PI/holding calls on the defense.  The refs were famous for this when Brady was in NE.  They would call penalties against NE's opponent early when the game was still in doubt and then throw meaningless penalties in the 4th against NE to even out the number of penalties when the contest was pretty much decided.  Let me put it another, if Tampa and brady was going for the winning TD and that play that happened to Diggs to Evans or Gronk, there is noway in hell the refs don't throw the flag.  That is the difference and it decides games like yesterday unfortunately.

Most were borderline, but the DPI call on wallace should get an official demoted. What a terrible game-changing call.

Wait a second Dave, when there were 4-5 blatant PI calls against Tampa, none of which were called then Tampa gets 5 PI/holding calls in their favor stop with the borderline crap.  Sanders and Diggs in the first half pretty much got their jerseys taken off with no calls.  I have said for years, I am not going to say it is rigged but the NFL has an agenda and that agenda is for some reason to get Brady as many wins/super bowl appearances as possible.  Yesterday it was so over the top I can not believe anybody is remotely defending the refs.

When we signed Feliciano at became very well known that he was brought in because Bobby Johnson went to bat for him. They had worked together before and Johnson LOVED Feliciano. I find it rather hard to believe that Daboll gets zero say so on personal but Johnson did.

For all we know Motor, Moss, the linemen...were all requested by Daboll.

What was Moss even doing in the game at that point when it was pretty clear he was our third best rb that night.

Baldy just posted some plays on Twitter. The entire OL gets zero push. We lose double teams, LB’s beat down our OG’s, and we don’t move the LoS at all.

Daboll calls HB dives because if we execute, we get 4 and if we don’t, we get 1 or 2. If you start running traps and counters and tosses and other slow developing run plays, we will get -4. I take 2nd and 9 over 2nd and 14 all day every day.

Team is fundamentally flawed. There is no one on the OL that should be safe next year. Maybe Spencer Brown.

This is an excellent point.   It is not Daboll's fault the line can't block worth a sh*t or the rbs have no vision.  If Moss cuts that run to the outside he walks in for the td.  That is on Beane.

  12. 12 hours ago, Tuco said:

How about one play that sums up our running backs lack of vision -

If he bounces this outside instead of turning it in we're talking about how our team put together a great drive into that horrible wind and took the lead. No vision.

Wow, that is pretty unbelievable.   I was at the game and it is tough to notice things like that but my god, he could of walked into the endzone.  Makes you wonder.

  13. You make a lot of good points.  I will state this though, the NFL is so competitive now.  Most games are decided by a bounce or two.  Even this NE game, yeah I get they rushed for 200 + yards but if any of 4 or 5 things go the other way we win that game.

    - the good 2 point conversion

    - diggs dropping the td pass

    - bass missing that 30 yard fg.

    - not getting the holding call on knox in the endzone at the end of the game

Last year it seemed like we won all the close games.  1st NE game, seatle, rams, even the colts and Baltimore playoff game.  This year it seems like we are losing all the close games - Titans, Jags, NE,.

It truly is a game of inches and the biggest reason our record isnt the same as last year is we are not winning the one possession games this year

  14. You out of towners crack me up.  It is going to rain in the morning with 25 mph winds(gusts up to 50 mph) but winds diminishing in the afternoon, temps drop dramatically as they start out on the 50s and will be in the low 30s by the afternoon.  By game time winds will be about 15 mph, and a chance of flurries.  If we pick up an inch or two of snow I will be surprised.  Channel 2 especially Patrick Hammer likes to spew this crap all the time and get everybody worked up but look at the models.  They are not that bad.  Josh Allen and the bazooka he has attached to his right arm will be just fine.

ND now no longer has a HC or a win vs a currently ranked team. They are at 6 but getting into the top 4 if teams above them lose might not be that easy.

Yeah ND needs major help.  They need two out of 3 teams to lose, Bama, Cinci/Michigan & if Bama loses a close game I could see them getting in before ND.

Did you or did you not read where I said that Alabama would be in an 8 team playoff even with a loss to Georgia? An expanded playoff system would place Alabama in the playoffs more often, not less.

I do however hope that the little team that you support gets better.

I would really hope for the bolded, but it will be tough sledding against Georgia.

Remember, I cannot stress enough that this team is not as good as Bama 2020.  That team could have put up 70 against this Cincy team if they felt like it.

That is interesting you say that.  I know you follow bama.  I mean I believe they upgraded QB.  Jones was great but Young is a generational talent imo.  I don't think there is a fall off in the receiving corps with Williams and Meuche(sp).

Your comments give me pause for betting Bama on saturday.

The Marte signing was fantastic.  And don't forget Eduardo Escobar, who is probably now the best 3B on the roster.  Looks like Javy Baez is headed to Motor City.  That puts McNeil back at 2B, which I like.  I'd prefer to keep JD Davis around to play off the bench.  I'd be very happy if the Mets can get a proven, consistent big bat to hit behind Alonso.

Thank God the Conforto experiment is finally over.  Thank GOD.

Agree on conforto, I could not stand watching him anymore.  Not sure how I feel about Mad Max signing.  Lot of coin to give a guy that age(or any age) but.... if him and degrom stay healthy there the best 1-2 punch in league imo.  They had to do something after losing out on Gauzman.  My son who is a huge Mets fan just texted me that the Mets are trying to sign Carlos Rodan, that would be a great addition especially now looking like strohman is gone.

If Bama wins I don't see a path for Cinci unless one of either OKST or Michigan loses their title game.  Bama wins, Georgia gets in too I would think, unless Bama really beats the brakes off them.

If Bama, Michigan, Cinci & Okl St win Bama, Georgia, Cinci & Mich are in.  Okl St is left out.

  19. 1 minute ago, Bill from NYC said:

Well my friend, the committee does have the flexibility to not be glued to the teams with the best record.

As far as Cincy having the best win, I respectfully disagree. How about Michigan over OSU for one, and again; I think that Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss (#9 I think), and other SEC teams that Bama beat are better teams than Cincy but of course, this is merely my opinion.

PS: I am not trying to single out Cincy. Teams like Clemson and ND also would do well to play more real teams.

Always a pleasure to talk football with you. :)

Yeah when I say they have the best win, I am just going by the current rankings and also added bonus it was in south bend.  Michigan argueably had a better win but that was at home.

As a gambler, this bama/georgia game is going to be really interesting.  It never happens that Saban is getting 6 points.  Part of me says don't over think this one, the spread is a gift against the gambling gods on the other hand....not sure how bama fears against Georgia's defense.  I think Saban is going to come up with a solid game plan and this one is going to be close.  Like I said Bama wins, not only are they are in they are probably the #1 seed and will matchup against Cinci.   Then I guess we could truly put your theory to the test.

  20. 18 hours ago, Bill from NYC said:

Cincinatti is starting a guy who was Alabama's 5th string running back. Arkansas would destroy Cincy as would Mississippi, Mississippi State, LSU, and virtually any SEC Team. If Cincy was in the SEC they would probably struggle with Vanderbilt and lose to South Carolina and Kentucky.

Other than that, your post makes a great deal of sense. 🙄😂

Just like Georgia destroyed them last year in the bowl game right?   Cinci wins they are in, not sure if they get by Houston though although they are playing at home.

33 minutes ago, Bill from NYC said:

    OK, sure.

What you say about Cincy is true (yes, they beat Notre dame) but as I said in a different post, Cincy would be an average to below average team in the SEC. They beat Notre Dame (the only decent team they played), but they also struggled against second rate teams. And while I respect Notre Dame, this is another team that needs to be challenged WAY more than they are.

Now, do you think that Ohio State could beat Cincy? I sure do and if you agree, AND think that Alabama could beat them, how such sense does a playoff spot for Cincy make? How many other teams do you honestly think are better than Cincy? 10? 20? 30? Am I making sense?

As for Alabama being 11-2 after Saturday, there is a very good chance that you are correct. If you feel strongly enough, maybe you should take a shot and lay 6 or 7 points to Nick Saban.

I can't recall any team in the NCAA ever having lost as much talent as Alabama lost in the 2020 draft class. Can you? Can someone else chime in please?  On the current roster, their 2 best players (fabulous players and Heisman contenders I might add) are both sophomores. Alabama has also lost players to injury. If the lose to Geeorgia I will not shed a tear. I'm proud of these kids.  I mean after all, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide are the NCAA Champions until someone else is. 6 titles in 14 years for Saban and the Tide isn't so bad, wouldn't you agree?

Btw I am against playoff expansion, and view it as an excuse to make fans of inferior teams happy. Ironically, if there were 8 playoff teams this season Alabama would almost certainly be in it. 4 and I am alot less sure unless they beat Georgia, a daunting task indeed.

    Anyway, I appreciate the dialogue.

I see your train of thought but where it goes wrong is it doesnt matter what you think would happen, what matters what they do on the field.  I will argue to date out of the top 6-7 teams Cinci maintains the best win of the bunch with their victory at south bend,  that doesn't hold any weight with you?  That win is certainly better than any win to date Alabama has.  Now if Bama beats Georgia they are in imo no questions ask as they will then possess the best win out of any team in the country.

How will the top 4 shuffle this week with MSU loss… could be Oregon at 3 and Ohio state at 4. Or do we see UC jump Ohio state? The near loss to Tulsa could hurt that effort this week. But that 0 in the loss column stands out.  Could also consider Oklahoma for that reason but seeing they put them at 8 last week, not sure they will move them up that much.

It is going to be Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio St with Cinci in the 5 hole.

  22. 47 minutes ago, Doc Brown said:

Yeah.  He had two crap games against the Chiefs and Titans after starting out red hot if I remember correctly.  The first Pats game wasn't his best performance either and was bailed out by Justin Zimmer.  That and without the pass interference on 4th down against the Rams we could've easily been 4-4 at this same point last year.

That first Pats game up here he only threw 24 times and there 30 mph + winds that day.  He was actually pretty good that day given the weather conditions.
