Whitten just showed he knows nothing about the Bills.  He said he was surprised that the Bills traded Tyrod Taylor.  I think the only people around here that were surprised that the Bills traded Taylor were surprised by the fact he was tradable, not that the Bills jettisoned him.

Jason Whitten is a raw rookie announcer who needs to watch without a microphone when the preseason ends & learn from the veterans. ?

I've gotten at least 5 or 6 texts from friends who know I am a big Bills fan telling me how much of a mistake they made for trading TT all based on 2 episodes of "Hard Knocks".

Conlan did a great job.  Bats came alive.  Bullpen sucked it, but Familia looked good with the close.  Nice to get off the snide.

Had a healthy legged Ces or Nimmo been in LF his line would have looked much better.

He already looked light years better than the other soft tossing lefty the rotation named Vargas. Speaking of Vargas...he better step up tonight!

  3. Looks like during the 2 off days was the time the pecking order of the bullpen changed.  Mickey is still a work in progress but he seems to be adapting well at each sign of adversity of hiccup and that is a good sign.  Wish Swarzak did not suffer a setback because that will make the pen that much better and deeper.  My guess is Memorial Day.

Stole one in STL last night! What  win..I made it up for the entirety of that one too. Set up with Noah and Jake in the next 2 to at least take the series. I love how tomorrow is an afternoon game so we can focus completely on the draft tomorrow night.

Vargas comes back Saturday and even if he pitches to career norm it's a huge upgrade from Harvey. He will really stabilize the rotation. I think last nights outing by Wheeler is what we will get from him occasionally. It happens. No way I want Lugo coming out of his role to enter the rotation. He's too valuable where he is now.

    LGM!

Edit: Whoops its Matz tonight. My bad. Not Noah.

Most dominating team in the last 20 years.....reigning MVP.......this is not really earth shattering....they know their cash cow is almost dried up.....might as well squeeze the last few drops....no matter what, NE is a rating magnet....a crap load of people love them...a crap load of people hate them.....that means a crap load of people are watching.....

    Spot on!

  5. 1st - Gonzo with a 0 WAR and 770's ops
    SS - Rosario with a 0 WAR and a 660's ops
    LF - Cespy with a 0 WAR and a 650's ops
    RF - Bruce with a -.3 WAR and a 610's ops
    C - 0 WAR and a 580's ops

That's below avg production from 5 of the 8 positions (primary starters).....and yet, the team has the best record in the National League.

Imagine when these guys (mainly Bruce and Cespy) level off to their career norms....and Rosario gets some time under his belt and starts to develop (fingers crossed) and we hopefully make a move at C......1st base, who knows

and hell, the pitching staff hasn't even shaken out just yet.

Either that start was a fluke, or this team could be something special when it starts firing on all cylinders

He’s a star in his mind and has to realize the party is over.

Stars in obvious decline who have sucked it up and reinvented themselves included Eckersley, Mike Flanagan, Sabathia and Frank Tanana.

Good list. I am sure there are more...doing yard work today and will try and think of more. Great point!!

Philip Evans could be that guy already in the organization.

I was thinking about him as well. Good call.

    Great win last night!

10 game road trip starts tonight

    in Atlanta for 4

    STL for 3

    SD for 3

I would love a 6-4 (or better) trip myself! More Nimmo pleeeeeeeeeeease!!

Mick made mistakes...only one worked out because of the deGrom bunt/error.

    Completely agree.

The true test comes tomorrow night. How they bounce back. It’s just an ugly loss all around. Divional foe was gasping for air and they let them offthr hook. Like someone said..Jake was DEALING, divisional foe and a depleted B lineup scored 6. Just can’t lose those games.

I’m really curious how they bounce back tomorrow night. Wheeler pitching for his life tomorrow too, this won’t be the Marlins.

  8. Welllllllllll that was a pretty horrific loss. Shades of 2007/08. Yikes! Just want to completely forget that one! Wow. No words. Not one guy outta that pen did their job. Not one.

  9. I hope the Mets staff was watching and taking notes on Bart tonight. Especially Harvey. Mixing everything up and in and both sides of the plate and sitting at 86-88. Location location location! Lighting up the radar gun isn’t always how it’s done.

Wow he put on a clinic tonight.

  10. Harvey once again could not make it past the 5th. Would it matter even if he did make it to the 6th? He was piss poor again. Only pitching in MLB not to make it PAST the 5th in his last 10 consecutive starts.  They are going to have to make a decision with him and soon. Varags is on the way back soon and Wheeler turned a lot of heads last week in Miami.  Maybe he can go to the pen? What I do know is he is not helping this team every 5th day.

Nice memory of the GS single, hadn't thought of that for awhile. That was before my kids time. Tomorrow they will know, so thanks for that Tier!

LAMP ALERT: read on at your own discretion:

Tomorrow is opening day for my youngest sons Little League Team. He is an above average ballplayer but with an off the charts love of playing and the game. He got hurt in practice the night before last and can't play tomorrow. He is crushed. Me too. Because there's is nothing better than watching him play and seeing his love for the game.

Not sure how if it will work out but my plan is to have him coach first for an inning tomorrow.

    Turning off the LAMP now.

    11-1!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your boy. I hope he can rejoin the team soon? Please keep us updated as I love hearing things like that!

    LGM!!!!!!

  12. So when’s the last time the Bills AND Mets made the playoffs in the same season? 99? Mets made the WC aka Ventura’s GS single and Music City Miracle ?

  13. So what do you guys thinks the Bills are gonna do on draft day? What QB do they get? Mock draft?

I kid, I kid. This thread has been a great diversion and a 10-1 start is the cherry on top! LGM

Any word on Plawecki's hand?  Nido might be the guy tomorrow.  That's scary.

X-rays negative is all I know. I’m sure it swelled up like a balloon on the flight home and this morning. Good shot we see Nido play Fri/Sat is my guess.

He’s always been a disappointment.  I won’t miss him.  What about Jonathan Lucroy?

Would have to trade for him and quite honestly I’m not sure giving up prospects for him would be wise. He’s really declined over the past 2 years.

Ill have to scour the waiver wire and check my Mets message boards and see if I hear anything

  16. TDL errr I mean TDA partually torn UCL. Most likely we’ve seen his last days as a Met if he needs surrgery. Would also explain why his throwing has been even worse than usual at trying to catch guys stealing.

He just never could stay on the field long enough to show what he could have been. 2015 was a nice season for him and 2 huge playoff HR’s that helped the Mets take the lead and win but the guy just can’t stay off the DL.

Nido called up. Looks like Plawecki will get the lions share of PT. I’m betting Sandy isn’t content with that and will be monitoring the trade wire.

That was a great !@#$ing win.

But our bullpen is going to end up dead.  These starters need to go longer.  Especially Jake and Thor.

Not unless Logo and Gsvllman get burned out and how the off days are managed. Callaway is carrying an extra reliever no in case of this. Something to keep an eye on. Lugo and Gsleeman are the key, they can go multiple innings.

However I do agree we are going to need length at some point. I was hoping last night but that did not happen.  LGM.

  18. Interesting move today...Nimmo sent down for Sewald.

Before everyone freaks out I will try to be the voice of reason.

With Lagares emerging as a viable option to not only be a starter again when called upon and the Mets facing 2 lefties this week....AND....I think they do not trust Wheeler on Wednesday going more than 5 I can see why an arm is being summoned from Vegas. While Nimmo is a curious move he just seems to be the odd man out right now.

Also...perhaps they find some "phantom DL" move for Sewald who has not pitched since the STL series and Nimmo does not even leave South Beach and can be called back up immediately and avoid the 10 day call up rule? Just spitballing.

I know it is not a popular move and I love Nimms a lot too but the new staff earns some credence IMO.I hate playing with a short bench but there must be a reason.

I'm not saying I love the move...just willing to wait and see what happens.

With regard to Gonzalez, I was right there with you.   Syndergaard pitched 6 full innings; one more would have been nice, but - as you said - blisters got him.  Cespedes left 5 on base last night.  I didn't hear about his flu-like symptoms, but I agree ... let him rest and get Lagares out in CF tonight.

It definitely looks like Plawecki is Syndergaard's catcher of choice - either that, or Callaway likes him back there because Noah has the most problems holding runners.

We need a better catcher.  Teams are still stealing bases at will.

Agree on catcher however that’s the one position in MLB that there is a scarcity of. Nido is the best option in the minors and been thought highly of but has been up and down as far as consistency goes. He’s here in Binghamton now and off to a decent start. Lobaton in Vegas is just a backup. Our best bet as Met fans is to pray Nido makes some noise in the minors this year.
