  1. According to Buddy, he spends a lot of time each day talking Ralph out of spending money on players. B-)

Do you really think this is true ?? I'll say it again' Buddy Nix's hands are tied by Wilsons bean counters, who call the shots in this stage of Ralph Wilson's life. I doubt we will ever know the full extent of all moves (resigning players)or non-moves (signing FA)by the gang of 3 in Detroit. As long as the veto power continues to come from Detroit, there will never be another GM with the power to spend, spend and spend as Tom Donahoe had, only to end up with shi**y teams. The entrenchment of the Bills organization as a thrift organization began again after Donahoe was fired non-withstanding the big money certain Bills players (again Detroits call)recieved, the Bills are well under the salary cap

  2. Come on man. Just look at the 2010 draft. That is all you need to do.

In terms of the free agent market. How can anyone tell me that Nix has utilized that market effectively? We are 20 million or so under the cap and starting a guard at center and left tackle. And the Bills cut Hangartner, who would have been the key replacement for an injured Wood. Clearly there was mismanagement at some point.

Don't blaim Buddy Nix. Cutting Hangartner was srickly a salary dump by the bean counters in Detroit. Nix is operating under restrictions and you can take that to the bank. Buddy knows talent but if he can't get the OK to go after FA's, his hands are pretty much tied. Go back to when Nix was at San Diego. The Chargers were always in the mix for FA and Buddy Nix was at the center in aquiring talent. He comes back to Buffalo and wants nothing to do with signing FA all of a sudden?

  3. TSW has recently taken on several refugees from another message board.

Just like immigrants are required to take a test before becoming a full fledged citizen, I think we should hold these n00bs to some kind of TSW citizenship requirements.

For starters, before they can start a new thread I think they should have to be required to read the Retatta thread, all 560+ pages of Last Post Wins!, and explain why they are all horrible human beings.

    A little TSW history: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/8948-otis-there-a-site-do-to-calculate/

You want Retatta, we got Retatta: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/25951-oh-this-is-nicereal-nice/

Or how about that Tracy Lee classic DVD coping escapade and meltdown:

  4. Thanks - any idea what the single game cost is? I assume you have to call them, they wouldn't be on ticketmaster.com?

We have seats in the Paul McGuire Club. Tickets run from $160 to $200+ Tickets in the Jim Kelly Club between the 20 yard lines are even higher. That's why the Bills want to put Club seats between the Paul McGuire and Van Miller Clubs and move the press box to the end zone. I was told that club seat holders in the PM and VM clubs would have first shot by seniority to upgrade their seat location. If this turns out to be true, with my seniority...lookout 50 yardline here I come :w00t:

  5. I'm no Dick Jauron apologist -- watching the Colts this year shows how wise Jauron was to build a team in Buffalo in the image of the Colts without a QB or even an NFL caliber coordinator -- but, the bad drafting pre-dates Jauron's abundant incompetence. As Ralph himself put it, they hadn't drafted well in a decade.

No argument there. Bad drafts all the way back to the late John Butler's last year with the Bills.

Buddy Nix was right when he said shortly after re-joing the Bills: "We need talent and we need a lot of it" ..... the remaking of the roster is still a work in progress.

As far as Jauron, I give him no pass on nothing. DB DB and undersized LB bust, bust bust ALL first round busts!!!! I'd take a QB over any of that BS garbage; or a DE or a OT. All the first round DB's and our secondary is a joke so ya IM pissed that this club was run like the three stooges for ten years. :wallbash:

  6. His coverage was generally good. He just lost every battle for the jump ball. What is it? Heart? Desire? What?

Lead feet and is not an instinctive football player and I disagree, he's been a liability on pass D every game, save for his pick. Another first round bust by Jauron. Its going to take Buddy Nix another 2 drafts to just undo the damage done by this a$$clown.

  7. That's disturbing. How many more just like him were at the game and drove home. Why do people feel it necessary to get THAT drunk at a game? I just don't get it. Intersperse a few coffees or Pepsis in between all those beers, guys. He's not going to be sober until about 4 PM Monday. Ridiculous. Stupid. Did he even SEE the game?

Nope, notice he is outside the gates. People visibly drunk are denied entry and on average about 50 are ejected every game who go over the top with their drinking. The Bills have made it a priority to keep the game day experience enjoyable for all with zero tolerance for drunken or threatening behavior.

  8. I can't remember that specifically, but I will say that I disagree in general. Felser is/was a much more knowledgeable sports writer than Sully could ever be.

Larry is extremely knowledgeable on the great game of football and in particular Bills football. Heck of a nice guy who would always take a minute to talk.

I still miss Larry Felser's "Monday Morning Quarterback" show on WBEN every Monday after a game. The Who's Who of Bills player, coaches, GM's and scouts that Felser had invited to be on his show will sadly never be matched by any local radio host. They came on his show because they respected him and knew that Larry knew his stuff and was fair in any criticism that might come their way in either press or print. The three who made on most shows on a regular basis were, Bill Polian, The late John Butler and Buddy Nix

  9. BTW, I believe after the Bills beat the Oilers- and I could be wrong- but the exact call was, "It's pandomonium, it's FANDOMONIUM, It's fantastic..." Anyone?

Yep those were Van's words with the "It's fantastic" coming out softer like he was emotionally drained, which we all were BTW.

On another note I was really happy to hear that Van Miller was in the press box for this past game against NE and even made a call.

  10. Van lives down here in Florida in The Villages, I heard that he had some health issues. He is 'Wall Worthy" in my opinion.

2 years ago was the last time I saw Van Miller. He made an appearance before a joint meeting of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club and the Bills Boosters in the club bearing his name. He was a shell of the Van Miller I had known in the late 80's, early 90's. Very frail and needed much help walking and his voice that we all loved so much was weak and hesitant. I believe that most in attendance that evening realized that this was most likely one of Van's last visits to RWS. I am not aware that Van Miller ever returned again to RWS but it's possible.

I hope Van enjoys many happy and peaceful years in The Villages. Nice community BTW. Have been there quite a few times. Oh, and for those wondering about Van Miller going up on the Wall of Fame, I think, knowing Van Miller that he would say, leave it for the guys doing the sweating. He had a soft heart for the guys on the field and loved the game of football. Besides he has one of the Clubs named after him which in itself is quite an honor. I had heard that it was Mr. Wilson that suggested one of the Clubs be named for Van Miller but never really asked around to confirm this. Maybe someday.

  11. A rare Bills Game shown live on the Left Coast - already cancelled work for the morning

Home Made Breakfast Burritos and Bloody Mary's at kickoff

Secong best thing to Hammer's Lot ;-)

Bob good to se you're still kicken. Miss seeing ya before the home games especially opening day at Hammers. Any chance you will be coming back east for any Bills games?

  12. Must be related to NJsue. ;)

Well that's a name from the past !! Did NJsue just fade away or did she get banned???

I still have the thread bookmarked where she asked for help with her homework and if anyone had a website for calculating currency exchanges. One of the alltime classics here on TBD.

BTW NJSue was a nice girl with a big heart. Met her a few times at RWS.

  13. Nah, that would make too much sense; after all, it's training camp and there are three preseason games left. TSW protocol is to scream "the sky is falling" and jump to conclusions.

True Dat !! This type of crowd never last for long on "TSW"

We both have seen them come and seen them go into the sunset of cyberspace.

RELAX people this is PRE-SEASON. I hope just like everyone else that the players Buddy Nix brought in can help Chan and his coaches field a decent team this year. Pre-season games is the time to find out if these young guys have the potential to become solid pro's

Same for FA...what do we have?, can he adapt to our system?, how does he react if beat on a play? or makes a play? Team oriented or "ME First" type. Does he point fingers of accept responsibility for not making a play(s)? And finally there is the competition factor. For some vets it's the fear of being demoted and kissing a big payday good-bye and for some it is the thought of riding the pine and playing very little or most likly a combination of both these factors that will push a player. The term "maybe we can light a fire under his a$$" comes to mind. Its the coaches responsibility to figure out what 11 guys on offense, defense and special teams can win games for the Buffalo Bills. That's all that matters. Over the years I've seen a fan favorite fade quickly into the back-reaches of fans minds in favor of the "new improved player" that is dropped onto the playing field at Ralph Wilson Stadium. This year will be no different. Players that don't make the cut and players that are traded fade fast from fans minds.
