1. Playoff stuff:

      1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).

We didnt play this year...move on to 2

      2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.

    BUF: 3-3

    DEN: 3-2

The remaining divisional game for DEN is @ KC.  If DEN wins they have the tiebreaker over us, if not, move onto to #3.

      3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.

The teams we have both played in common are:MIA, JAX, OAK, CIN

Assuming we (BUF) beats CIN, the record for BUF will be 3-2.

DEN is currently 1-3 against these teams (losses to JAX, CIN and OAK; win against OAK) with 1 game to play.

Thus, if we make it to #3, we own the tiebreaker if we both happen to go 10-6.  Better circle that KC game on your calendar!

CONCLUSION:  If DEN beats KC two weeks from now, they own the tiebreaker against us; otherwise, if we win out and both DEN and BUF finishes at 10-6 we own tiebreaker against them.

    go KC!

RIght now, how I see it, the biggest threat to our playoff chances is BAL.  We basically our 2 games behind them because they have the tiebreaker.  We are only 1 game behind JAX because we have the same record but they own the tiebreaker.  We are hopefully only 1 game behind DEN (see aforementioned analysis).

Lets see BAL finish 9-7 and who cares if DEN finishes 10-6 as long as their loss comes against KC.  We only need to gain 1 game on JAX.  I think Leftwhichs luck is running out.

Isn't record in the AFC the first tiebreaker?

If so, and we both finish 10-6, then Denver gets the nod over us based on that.

  2. 7-5 Broncos (Lost 2) - Miami; @Kansas City; @Tennessee; Indy

*must lose 1 (I believe I read somewhere that we'd have a tie breaker against them if we both finished 10-6 - someone correct me if i am wrong here)

    147847

The Broncos must lose two. If we both finish 10-6, Denver will have a better AFC record than us. All 4 of their remaining games are against AFC teams, and right now they are 4-4 against the AFC. A 10-6 finish would mean they would finish with a 7-5 record against the AFC.

If the Bills win out and finish 10-6, they would have a 6-6 AFC record. We are 3-6 against the AFC right now, and have only 3 games left against AFC teams.

  3. I love P-Diddy. In fact, his is the only jersery I have ever bought.

But still, I would rather have JJ back than P-Diddy.

    That's just me though.

    147842

Today was a less than forgettable day for JJ. I'm sure the shoulder had a lot to do with it, but he hurt us more by being in there, IMO. Penalties, poor blocking...I just don't know.

  4. Denver is vulnerable right now.  Champ's been a chump of late.  The Bronx are gettable.

Still, provided the Bills beat the Browns next week, the Cinci outcome will determine whether Our Heroes stay in the hunt or not.  It's shaping up to be a huge game for both the Bills and Bungles.

    147833

Maybe not...if the Bungles lose at New England next week, they are 6-7 and all but knocked out. Perhaps they won't be at the top of their game when we meet?

  5. Basically, we need to hope that:

Denver loses at least two more (possible, but not that great)

Baltimore loses at least two more (very possible)

Jacksonville loses just one more (very possible)

    and/or

the Jets lose three of four (possible, but not that great)

and, of course, that we win out (which would also eliminate Cincy)

  6. I'm pretty sure Denver would by virtue of a better AFC Conference record.  So, basically Denver has to go 2-2 in their last four.  It's looking like they have the best chance to break our hopes!

    147812

Right now, Denver is 4-4 in the AFC, Buffalo is 3-6.

The Bills have 3 games left against AFC opponents, and since we must win out, that would make us 6-6 in the AFC.

The Broncos have all 4 games left against AFC opponents. Since they are now 7-5, they would need to go 3-1 to finish 10-6, which would give them a 7-5 AFC record.

So, unfortunately, we would also need Denver to finish at 9-7 to get the last wild card.

Their games are against MIA, at KC, at TEN, and IND. It is possible they could go 2-2 in that stretch, but I'm guessing not likely.

Then again, I've seen stranger things.

  7. Basically, I think it's unrealistic to think the Jets will tank the rest of the season, which means they get one of the two wild card spots.

That means we have to beat out everybody else for the final wild card.

Right now, we're 6-6. We need to be 10-6.

The Ravens and Broncos are now 7-5. Hopefully, if the Steelers can pull it out tonight, the Jags would be 6-6.

The real problem is that we lost to both the Ravens and Jags, so we can't be tied with them at 10-6 since they get the tiebreaker. So, both of those teams need to go 9-7 or worse, which means they both have to lose at least 2 more.

I don't know the tiebreaker situation with Denver. Would we win the tiebreaker if we both finished 10-6?

  8. Denver has a solid shot at going 9-7, the Jets look to have a 10-6 record locked up[ which means they win the ite breaker against the Bills.

We need to see the Ravens slip to 9-7 and the Bills need to win out for us to have any shot at the post season, and given the incredible inconsistency of this team its a very tall order.

At least we won't be giving Dallas a top 10 pick this year, which was my biggest fear aster the 1st 4 games of the season.

Here's wishing, and hopin for a miracle and a 7 +++ game win streak

You left out one more +.

  9. When we got married, we established a joint account that we must put a set amount of money into every month for common bills.  Anything we have left over after that we may spend as we see fit without consulting the other.

Are the wife and I insane for that, or just far too sane?

    145033

My wife and I do the same thing. Works great.

Particularly since we don't have kids.

  10. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the drubbing we gave Miami in 1987.

It was at home in November, about a month after we got Cornelius Bennett. I remember the giddiness we were all feeling after that trade, and after Bennett's first game against Denver when he was all over the place.

But the real coming of age was the game against Miami in November, when the Bills thrashed the Dolphins 27-0. It was amazing. They built a 21-0 lead by halftime, and cruised the rest of the way. But completely shutting out the hated Dolphins was awesome. You could tell we had a young team that was going to be capable of great things.

  11. You people are all completely high.

The Bills are going to run the table and squeak into the playoffs, and with the defense playing lights out, the offense getting revved up, and the special teams splattering people all over the place, we will proceed to place a complete stranglehold on three tough teams on the road to snatch the AFC title when nobody's looking.

  12. The best part is that I didn't catch the post until it was 20 minutes into the show. I thought it was only a half hour show, so I figured I missed most of it. As I turned it on, the Bills were kicking a FG to make the score 7-3.

I knew I was in trouble then. No sleep for me.

That was a nice hour and a half show. I was so pumped at the end. Unfortuntately, it was midnight.

  13. The guy was step for step with him, in fact, he was a step beyond him which is why he was able to get to the overthrown ball and Lee wasn't.  For that play to have worked, Drew would have had to have underthrown it to the inside.  Even then the defender would have been able to make a play on the ball because he was stride for stride with the receiver.  That is just the way I saw it but I'll take another look next time I have the time to run the tape.

I agree with ICE on this one, Mickey. The end zone view showed it all. Evans was streaking down around the left hashmark, and the safety had deep coverage on him as you note. For that pass to be complete, Drew had to throw it down the right hashmark, preferably underthrown to a degree. Even so, I doubt there was much that could have made that a complete pass, since the deep safety had great position on Evans.

IMO not only was it a poor decision to throw it to Evans on that play (since he was covered well), it was a poor throw. Way overthrown and on the wrong side of the field.

    Nice analysis otherwise!
