  1. Because he just moved recently and has not called to give me updated info.

In fact he probably does not have a permanent address in the Buffalo area yet.

If hes your friend why wouldnt you keep his home or cell # handy.

  2. Very funny, guys. Seriously, my roommate from college is now tight ends coach for the Bills and today is his birthday so I was going to try and call him. He may not even have an office phone yet, but I was going to try and locate him.

  3. Charlie Coiner was my college roommate for 2 years at Catawba College as I pointed out in another thread. He is a tremendously hard worker and a good guy. He has told me on numerous occasions what a great guy/coach Jauron is. I'm looking forward to coming to Buffalo next fall!

  4. My roommate of 2 years at Catawba College is now the TE coach for the Bills. Just got the email from him on Friday.

He's been with the Bears since 2001 as offensive quality and control and special teams assistant.

He interviewed for QB job too, but was happy to get the TE job.

I'll be coming up to visit you guys this fall!

  5. I have been saying the same thing for years. I even send an email to the NFL asking why the paradigm of Sunday Super Bowls could not be broken and I never got a response (predictably). I have yet to stay at an entire Super Bowl party because we always have to leave to put the kids in bed. Those advertisers should recognize that we might not be watching those pricey commercials.

  6. Perfect. I could not have said it any better.

From Greg Estabrook today on NFL.com (Tuesday Morning Quarterback)

(Dec. 6, 2005) -- One of TMQ's maxims -- "Often all a football team needs do is run up the middle and things will be fine" -- applies so frequently I just produced the adage from my AutoText.

Never was this on clearer display than in Buffalo's epic collapse at Miami: or the Dolphins' epic comeback, depending on one's point of view. Leading 23-3, the Bills reached first-and-goal on the Dolphins' 3 with 4:14 remaining in the third quarter. Had Buffalo simply run up the middle three consecutive times, a game-icing touchdown was likely. But even had the Bills run up the middle thrice and been stuffed, the field goal makes it 26-3 and the rushes grind the clock, leaving the Dolphins behind by 23 points with only a quarter to play. Instead Buffalo coaches got cute and called a pass. Interception, plus no time taken off the clock -- and thus began the Bills' epic collapse or Dolphins' epic comeback, depending on one's point of view.

Awful tactics by Buffalo continued throughout the collapse. But then it's hard to blow a 20-point fourth-quarter lead -- awful tactics are required! When you've got a big fourth-quarter lead, the clock becomes your opponent. You must keep the clock ticking both to grind time and so that when the other team looks up at the scoreboard, players say to themselves, "It's too late." Yet in this clock-killing situation, Buffalo coaches kept signaling in passes that clanged to the ground incomplete. The Bills were 0-for-5 passing in the fourth quarter, meaning they stopped the clock for Miami five times. How polite! The Dolphins' winning touchdown came with 6 seconds to play. Had Buffalo simply rushed up the middle for no gain on the five plays when Bills' coaches called passes, time would have run out on the Miami comeback. Instead Buffalo repeatedly did the only thing that could keep Miami in the game -- stopped the clock. It's harsh to say, but nine out of 10 high-school coaches would have handled the fourth quarter better than Buffalo's coaching staff did Sunday.

  7. Agree with Dawgg.

No way do you pass in that situation. Run three times and if you don't get it in, take the field goal. That's what Marv would have done. Instead we give them the momentum and the rest is history.

I think he understands perfectly well where you're coming from. I also think that he just happens to disagree with your desire for the staff to go into a little shell and start coaching against the scoreboard with a full quarter and a half left to play.

I happen to fully agree with him and view your desire to take the air out of the ball with 20:00 left to play to be nothing more than coaching not to lose. And I don't want teh Bills staff caoching scared, and I don't want them coaching against teh scoreboard in the middle of the game, and I don't think umpteen posts lamenting a perfectly normal call in the middle of the 3rdqrtr are a a reasonable response to the Bills willingness to do something that a lot of good teams regularly do.

Just because he/we disagree(s) with your philosophy, doesn't mean that you have some special insight that we're too stupid to understand. It just means that we disagree.

  8. For one thing, we may get inclement weather in NE which always brings the top team's advantange down a little. You never know, but would love to see the Bills have another shot at the Brady Bunch.

Not to be a negative nancy - but how in the world can you think we have a chance at NE?  We have never even come close to beating the Pats at their house while coached by Belicheck.  Let's look at our last 3 games...

Lost 6-29 (actually seemed worse than that)

Lost 0-31 (could have been worse but Belicheck wanted to tie score exactly)

Lost 17-27 (don't actually remember this game - just remember the fact that we did not know what screen passes were)

My dream would be for us to be the #5 seed and playoff the Chargers.  Then play the Steelers - have the Colts knock off the Pats and then play the Colts.  I just can't imagine how we can beat the Pats when Belicheck owns Drew.

  9. Big error - Indy plays AT Denver. They will likely lose at Denver- tough place to play.

Bills Win at Pitt..End Season 10-6

1 of 2 things have to happen...

    Denver lose at Indy

    Jets lose at St. Louis

    Bold=should lose                  Underline=can lose

If 1 of these things happen we get the #6 playoff spot. If both of these things happen we will get the #5 spot.

-Jets need to lose at St. Louis. We will have an equal head to head record and and we will both 3 - 3 divisional records. We will have the better common opponents record. Buffalo's is 10 - 4 while the Jets cant match that no matter what since they beat a team that we do not play while we lost to both teams the Jets do not play. This is now looked at before Conference Record if the team you are competing against is in you division.

-Denver has the tie-breaker over us because of Conference Record. If they go 10 -6 they will have a 7 - 5 Conference Record while we will have a 6 - 6 Conference Record. That is why they must lose at Indy so that they have 7 losses.

    CAN  HAPPEN:

-Jets lose to St. Louis. Jets will be away.

-Denver lose to Indy. Denver will be away

DONT GIVE UP HOPE. IF 1 OF THOOSE 2  THINGS HAPPEN WE ARE IN.(WIN AT PITT. TOO)    :flirt:  ;)  :P  :P  :P

  10. Q: How well do you see J.P. Losman playing in Buffalo when he finally gets the nod, which I will assume will be within a year? I think he has some good young talent to work with on offense, and could develop well with Lee Evans, Willis McGahee and Eric Moulds for another year or two.—Ed, Brockport, N.Y.

A: He looks like a loose cannon to me. I haven't had an opportunity to study him closely, but if his reputation as a cocksure gunslinger is true, it will take him a longer time to develop because patience and prudence won't be among his strong suits. On his side are three offensive coaches with reputations for developing quarterbacks: Mike Mularkey, Tom Clements and Sam Wyche. Kordell Stewart gave Clements much credit in Pittsburgh. Losman may require the kind of close scrutiny and patience that Brett Favre got from Mike Holmgren, Steve Mariucci, Andy Reid and others in Green Bay. It is true that Buffalo has talent, but this will not be the kind of ready-made situation that Ben Roethlisberger benefits from in Pittsburgh.

  11. I watched the whole thing, but only because we don't get the Bills very often on TV here in NC. It was totally disgusting.

i cannot believe what a train wreck this team has become.  20-0 at halftime- i figured only a chump would lose sleep on watching these guys flounder around like my old junior high team.  between the play of the bills and the espn crew all but fellating tom brady, i just couldn't stand it anymore.  my congratulations to everyone who managed to stomach all 4 quarters...whoever you are, you would do really well on fear factor.

thanks donohoe...and keep at it...you'll run this franchise out of town yet... :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:
