From what I heard on the radio the reason they didn't want to rework Josh's contract more is the hope is go get to a point where they don't have to restructure a lot of contracts for cap reasons.

Thanks, Jrb, I hope it works out that way.  I can still remember all of the excitement before we landed Mario Williams.  It’s fun to be in the fight to land a big fish that can change the season (please no one bring up Von “DV” Miller).

We’re shopping at the dollar tree,  We have no money.

I’m still wondering about leaving $13 million that we desperately needed this year on the table by not taking full advantage of reworking Josh’s contract to the max benefit—even those talking heads we all hate but who do know a bit more than us were also confused by that move.

That $13 million or part thereof could have landed us a one year prove it WR (aside from Ridley or “Hollywood”) Check Spotrac:

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/wide-receiver/.  And, another one year prove it defensive player (in round three of FA).

Too bad he’ll never be able to

steal the one man he needs …

and on a serious note he should have actually traded us for Bates addresses multiple positions of dire need for NYG OL as starter and/or depth and NYG has the cap room and draft capital.

NYG 4th / 106 (80) for our 4th /127 (45) and one of our three 5ths and one of our three 6ths (don’t think they’ll be as useful as the player we’d get to jump 21 picks in the 4th).

  4. I think he’s just reacting to the events of the past few days like many of us have been except he’s losing some of his oldest and closest friends.  I think he’s also saying he wants to stay in Buffalo.  He’s invested in the community, after all he was our Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee for the second year in a row for his work in Buffalo.  I think he’s sincere, a bit of an open book who appears to wear his emotions on his sleeves (which isn’t the best thing to do).

The concern is understandable.   But McGovern is a bigger, and I presume, stronger guy which might make Josh's protection better.  Connor also has a full year with Kromer, and Josh so he has a feel for what Josh's cadence is.

I did some more due diligence and found this interesting article, supports your optimism and gives me some confidence about McGovern:

Now I’m done for the day.  But, this “exchange” with you is why I really love TBD.  Thanks.

In case you did not notice name I am expected to be attacked.  Decided to live with it.

I guess all of us Bills’ fans have all felt that way over the years.  ☮️ brother, we’re all in this together.

There was a time Morse only had 100 snaps at canter. Maybe, just maybe with more snaps McGovern gets good at Center?

I hope you’re right.  I just get very nervous about having a OL that can protect Josh and last year’s did.  The sting of losing Morse is the only move that I haven’t liked.  But, you’re right.  Kromer has done a great job with the OL so he must have seen something in both McGovern and Edwards.  He’s the expert, I’m just a frustrated fan.

Thanks that’s the purpose of this forum, a free and open forum of discussion for fans.  I don’t take it personally.  And, I’m venting.  Sorry if you missed that.

This is definitely true with all the other cuts.   Morse is the only real surprise especially after trading Bates.  There were plenty of teams that would have killed for offensive line depth last year and putting someone in with very little experience at center is very risky.

Don't worry our generational talented QB has a new Center who played 100 snaps at Center while in Dallas.  Allen is in great hands.  And, don’t tell me there wasn’t anyway Beane could have found a way to keep a team Captain who said as he cleaned out his locker that he wanted to come back.  Makes you wonder what he’d have taken.  Especially when you throw Trubisky a nice back-up QB contract—maybe we’re planning for an OL breakdown next season.

What has everyone seen in Kingsley Johnathan that I didn’t? When did he flash?

He had 5 tackles, 5 pressures, 2 QB hits last year.

We’ve had such great success with our DL picks and DL FA signings how could we not pick a DL.

Maybe this puts some pressure on daquan Jones to make a decision, but it’s gotta be hard to convince a guy who played for over $10m per year the last 2 seasons to take a deal in the $3-4m range which I guess is what Beane wound want him for.  I’d be surprised if we don’t draft a 1 tech this year also.

His last contract was 2022-2024 for 3 years at $30 million.  Unless they get a “cap friendly” number—I’d rather go with Jones for a team friendly two year deal which should be about $2 million less per year then a “realistic” (to) Fatusaki pay cut, don’t see Fatusaki taking a $4 million pay cut to $6 million with no injury discount and that’s where Spotrac has Jones).

Then for the obvious, getting younger and cheaper, draft Jones’ replacement this year who they can develop for two years with Jones in-house and then the rookie would hopefully be a nice starter on a two year rookie contract freeing up cap space for those two years to use elsewhere after Jones leaves.

  12. I know how many feel about PFF but found an article, “One 'secret superstar' for all 32 NFL teams entering the 2022 season”.   Fatukasi was the pick for Jax.

“In today’s pass-happy league, the best way to ensure you fly under the radar is to be a run-stuffing specialist. Being one coming off a below-average year will only magnify that. Fatukasi has been one of the best run stuffers in the league since he came into the NFL, with back-to-back PFF run-defense grades of at least 86.0 before last season’s drop-off. If he can bounce back to that previous level in Jacksonville, he will be an important and unheralded cog of a defense looking to take a big step forward in 2022.”

Here’s a link to the PFF (non-subscriber) bio info page on Fatukasi:  https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/folorunso-fatukasi/38558

You can't forecast anything like that. This is true. I still think a lot of the lack of usage is on Dorsey for not getting him SOME kind of small roll.

Either way, with the production the Colts ended up getting from Moss this year...I'll say we're square from the Hughes/Sheppard trade before that😂

The Hughes trade was a great one, nine years out of him!

Bills need a pass blocking, short yardage back.  That way Josh is not our battering ram.  Bills need a tough RB who runs angry.  We are lacking and need that.  A 6th or 7th most likely will not yield that.  I want a proven player

Not sure who the answer is this year for that role but kudos to Latavius Murray who deserves a lot of credit for last year because whenever he came in it was pretty clear what he was doing—blocking, grinding out those hard to get 2 yards the D knew was coming and he also caught some timely passes—just looked up his rushing stats 79 atts/300 yds/4 TDs and he converted 27 first downs on those 79 carries (very good ratio for someone who earned them like he did).  True professional (analysts always seemed to note his value).  Wish him well.

  15. This has to be a joke.  What’s next?  They going to turn Buffalo Wings into Kansas City Wings.  But, what I really can’t wait for is Araiza “sniffing” around Taylor Swift!!!  😈

PS.  I wouldn’t mind them taking former Carolina Panthers’ players (or how about taking Von Miller for Chris Jones 😂).

  16. It seems pretty unanimous—two WRs, a DL and a S in first four rounds aside from any Beane specials at DL snd S in FA.  Need some low cost four year rookie contracts at S and DL who can hopefully take over for the one to two year FA vets.  That’ll free up cap space which is what everyone agrees is the name of the game.

And, from what I’ve heard here and elsewhere there are DL and S who can be had in the top four rounds and could give us that two year cushion (their 3rd and 4th years).  Gets us younger…

One of the most depressing picks of all time. When I saw we traded up I said hell yeah we went and got DK Metcalf! Then I saw it was Ford and biggest let down ever. Been torture ever since thinking about DK opposite Stef 😭🤣

I’m still scarred by the Patrick Willis draft!

  18. We gotta hope we can hit on a WR like DK Metcalf who fell down the board into the late 2nd round after being touted early on as a projected higher first round pick.

We need the so called “experts” to wrongfully run down a few top tier WRs so they fall to us (in rd. 1 or if Beane decides BPA in rd. 1 isn’t a WR to jump up in rd. 2 which I concur with many others with much more knowledge than me, the drop off after the top five is pretty muddled but there will be some legit gems in there (that’s why many of us want two WRs in the first four rounds with S and DL fitting in with the BPA) but we just need something we have far too little of … luck.

No Cody Fords this year, that would be a big blow at this juncture.
