This is about what it would take to move from #8 to #1 this year. Would you do it? I would.
No, these massive picks for one player trades rarely work out. I'm thinking Ricky Williams and Eric Lindros.
Maybe there are counterpoints, so please enlighten me

Fixed it
The question is, is adding 3 unknown rookies over 3 years going to improve the team more then adding a potential Manning/Brady with a smaller contract then Bradfords, freeing up cap space? Thats where they questioning is going to happen over if you take him or try and trade the pick
The reason he can't stay healthy in STL is because he gets his face smashed to bits by the pass rush every game....adding three unknown rookies from a very bad team is a better bet than 1 unknown rookie. There's a real good chance that two of those #1s could be top 5 or top 10

Colts still have to win next week because they hold the SOS tiebreaker advantage. If the Rams do end up with the 1st pick, I can see them taking Luck and trading Bradford, just as you suggest the Vikings could do with Ponder. The Browns would be an ideal trade partner, with 2 1sts this year and would reunite Bradford with his former OC Pat Shurmer.
No way the Rams would pick Luck when they could turn it around and trade for multiple #1s from someone. Bradford is going to be very good if the Rams had any talent around him...Adding 3 extra first round draft picks in the next three years to their team would make them a potential dynasty, as bradford is still very young.

They went after Shanahan, he turned them down, They talked to Cowher and he turned them down but highly recommended the guy they currently have. They even went after some of the top co-ordinators and those guys wanted to stay at their current position.
And why is that? because Ralph is a meddlesome bastard and buffalo is probably the worst franchise in the NFL. It's a long road to turning that reputation around, but it can be done. Ralphie boy isn't even trying

Ha!!
Brady had an awesome defense bail him out for years, then got Moss, then got Welker.
Remember all those Super Bowls Randy Moss, Tim Brown and Terrell Owens have won?
When 3 of the top 5 WRs of all time have laid career goose eggs...its a pretty good indication how unimportant they are to winning championships
-
Brady was great for years without WRs, so was McNabb. Stud WRs are the most overrated position in the game
-
Plus he's a good locker room presence... er, that is, he has a big presence in the locker room. And by presence, I mean honker.
and by honker he means giant penis

If they sign a new long-term agreement with toronto, thats another obstacle to them leaving town.
My guess is they probably have a Toronto agreement in principle, but aren't going to finalize and announce until they can threaten their way to a sweetheart stadium deal from the state and county, because they lose so much leverage with a toronto extension in place

I would.
We don't really want to see poor DT Spencer Johnson trying to play OLB again, do we??
And agree with previous that Bills will still slide up higher, at which point a top QB will be an option.
In a competent front office you should be able to get starters in the first 3 rounds. If there's no top 10 talent at OLB, you've got to pick someplace else and get your OLB in 2 and 3.

Fitz is badder than Levi Brown.
I wish he was badder than Leroy Brown...and meaner than a junkyard dog
-
Freddie and CJ are two radically different backs. CJ does not have the durability, yards after contact and broken field running skills of Fred.
I guess that's the reputation, but itFunny that the more durable back has missed half the season with injuries...
Not sure we really know enough about CJs broken field running skills or yard after contact at this point

Draft Tek has Mercilus at #18, I think. That's a bit of a reach, unless he moves up or we actually win one of our two last games.
Top 10s in December don't have a lot in common with Top 10s in April...the combine will change a lot of minds about a lot of guys. I don't think its a reach to be looking at anyone in the top 20 at this point. Good to get familiar.
-
One was the consensus best RB in a draft, is coming off an amazingly productive game and is only 24, the other will be 31 next year and coming off a season ending broken leg...
Fred is not getting a big contract and he shouldn't be handed the starting position, either. Sucks for Fred because he was a great player, but it doesn't make sense for the Bills.
Young players get better, old players get older.

I think we'll be at 6th or 7th when its all said and done.

Flashes of greatness? He had a good game but let's not get carried away. Reggie Bush ran for 200+ on the same field today.
I don't think many people have called him a bust. I do recall a lot of people saying he was a bad draft pick. Two years later on a team with no pass rush, no linebackers, one NFL caliber WR on the roster, a questionable QB, and they spent a #9 overall pick on a backup RB. Even if he develops into a starter at some point, he was not what this team needed at the time. So IMO the 'I told you so' threads every time Spiller plays a halfway decent game are frankly a little silly.
1) reggie bush had twice as many carries, on a per carry basis the two are not far off...
2) Reggie bush ran against our joke of a front 7, while spiller ran against a more than respectable dolphins run D.
3) 160 yard of offense and 2 TDs are more than a "halfway decent game"...in fact, its something that your boyfriend Fred Jackson has only done once in his career. (week 10 of 2010 against the lions)
It was a damn fine performance worthy of a first round pick.
-
If he's that good, why does he only get 12 carries a game? . . . Each game just further cements what a waste of a pick it was. Not that he's awful, but he certainly never was, and will never be, worthy of a 9th pick over-all. That is the point Frank, just accept it.
But, to his credit, he did the most with what he was given, and also did well catching the ball.
If this isn't a joke I seriously think you have a mental illness...he had 12 carries for 91 yards (7.6 ypc) against a team with a very strong front 7...and now he has 5 yards per carry on the season, while having the bulk of his carries behind a joke of an offensive line.
He's performed very well when given the opportunity, without qualification. I suggest you just accept it.
-
Pollyanna in Chief PTR has the same amount of credibility as Gremlin-in-chief Sullivan
-
Its one game and until today he sucked.
His ypc on the season was pretty good even coming into today...try judging him by what he did with his opportunities instead of what his fantasy football value was.
its not his fault Jackson was playing so well to start the year.
-
Spiller is a LOSER. He showed it when the ball was stripped and he was crying on the sidelines. He showed it when he gets turned back at the first down marker and did not make the first down. He has no heart for this game. He is a loser as is the rest of this team. Fitz should shave that beard and get serious about the game no try to cultivate some weirdo cult image. This team spews DJ all over again.
oh stuff it...he looked good, and would look even better if we weren't always playing from behind with a JV offensive line.
-
Do the bills have the best O-line in the CFL?
-
Plus Dan Marino hates his guts because they were huge rivals in college and the pros, so you know he's doing something right.
-
Yep. When you fall behind, you definitely don't want a guy with explosive speed that can score from anywhere on the field to get many touches.
we had 14 rushing attempts today because we were in the hole early. The bigger problem is the 4.7 ypa from Shitzpatrick and the 5 drops
-
We had a decent scheme that put our mediocre talent in a position to win. Other teams have caught up, and we can't make adjustments because the talent is mediocre.
Its not the end of the world, we're just still not competitive when it comes to on-field talent.

No, Any team in the league would have cut him, including the Jets, because of his outrageous salary. He was a one-trick pony get paid like an all-time stud. Now he's getting paid like a one trick pony.
