I could be wrong but I don't think that you can save more than what a player was due to earn in cap savings.
maybe a roster bonus ?? that's the only thing i could think of that would allow that.

i think i now understand why marv levy is taking his time cutting eric moulds.......the buffalo bills clearly have the upperhand in this situation.the bills do not have to cut eric ,we are 9.5 million under the cap.we need only cut eric when we need the extra 5.5 million for a player we like.well what happens if say we keep eric the first few weeks of free agancy?i think most likely all of eric's potential suitors will have "shot their wad"and spent their free agent dollars.so when there are no teams left that can afford to pay eric ,we can ask him again "would you like to restructure"and then that is when eric says he never wanted to leave buffalo and all the usual player talk after restructuring.eric will say i really like all the moves the bills made and i believe this is the team that gives me the best chance to get a ring.eric will also acknowledge that he has to get on the same page as jp losman.i have posted many times eric should be cut at the money he is making, but if we can get his salary down to 2 or 2.5 million a year then he is just as good a choice as a #2 receiver then any others that are available in free agency or the draft....................go bills in'06
you may be onto something there.

Yes, but even at 64 years old, Shields would be a huge upgrade to our tubs-of-goo line.
yup, and in one year he'll be eligible for medicare and could save ralph some $$$ on the medical insurance

Just look at all of the great quarterbacks: P.Manning and Dallas Clark/Marcus Pollard, T. Brady and Ben Watson/Daniel Graham, T.Green and Tony Gonzalez.
i may get bashed for saying this but i really thought that was a huge contributing factor to Drew Bledsoe's failures here. Remember how good he was when he had Ben Coates in NE? I'm not sure about Vernon Davis and whether or not the bills should take him, but we definitely do need an upgrade at TE.

i'd love to see him back with the bills at a low price.

and cutting takeo, in addition to causing riots would only save about $1 MIL under the cap.

Now the cover story on espn.com cites an an anonymous nfl source as saying players released during this "time of uncertainty" can be reclaimed by their teams?
-
In the words of the great Jan Brady, "Have I no voice? Am I invisible?"
did somebody say something?

what about the teams who are abidding by the rules and released players?
well, in all likelyhood, the cba will still not be settled by monday and the teams over the cap will still have to purge. i do agree though that this is a move that some teams who have prepared well will be rightly very upset about. most notably denver and miami. as far as we're concerned i don't know that the lower cap had such a profound effect on our cuts.
-
thanks for the update. i was disappointed on espnnews they didn't address the injury at all. nor his thoughts on the bills recent cuts.
-
the miami herald had an article claiming the fins would be interested in him, citing that he played under mularkey in buf. i'm not sure how accurate this report was though. i found it on pro sports daily nfl rumor site.

Are you sure?

I'd guess the B'gals would take a look-see at Anderson - courtesy to an OSU player, and they have zilch at DT anyway..
i think the poster meant bennie anderson, although i'm not sure. and i personally am impressed by posey. the guy is always around the ball and somehow manages to not show up in one single box score.
-
thanks JDG. i still say cut him
-
described the current situation without cba as chaos. said the key to a new deal is revenue sharing and believes gene upshaw should stand pat with his 60% demand. says the potential uncapped year in '07 could be a bonanza for many players but could also hurt some veteran players.
i couldn't help but feel sorry for takeo. he didn't really seem prepared to answer the business related questions he was asked. and unfortunately they didn't even touch on his injury situation.
-
well noone has guessed him yet so i'll say will demps
-
Who cares what his cap # is, The bills could lose way more than keeping him on the team and I would still be saying cut him. Him and MW should have been cut together.
i agree, just want to know how much it may help our cap.
-
i don't know. wasn't that a "most high" shirt marv was wearing yesterday at the pc?
-
what exactly is bennie anderson's cap # and how much would the bills save with his release? man i'd like to see him go. i never understood his signing when the ravens with their anemic offense didn't even try to resign him.

Information from OBD had been obtained in reference to the Eric Moulds situtation.
well eventually this guy has to get one right. unless he really does have a source within OBD, in which case they are having alot of fun watching him make an a$$ of himself.
