  1. Lets assume we get the FA guard from the Panthers and we take care of the urgent need in the middle of t O-line. Grady is ok a left tackle for now so we can get a young guy in round 3 to develop over the next year or two. That brings us to our biggest need, defense and stopping the run. If we can trade down take Bunkley and pick up a 3. If not take Huff . If he is not there go Davis. If plan 1 works, get a safetyand another DT in the third round along with the OT above. From there go anywhere but QB,WR. I think the Bills would prefer more picks and less $ commited to one pick. Then sign Nate. Next year lots of $ to get a pass rusher unless we need a QB. Use the draft to replace our remaining old guys and we are back in the game. The biggest disappointment would be to use 8 on a solid player versus a great impact player. Surprise move/ Nate plus our 1 for the prize pass rushing D end.
  2. The Bills have been noncommittal on JP for weeks, then they glowed about the backup from GB and know they dont shut the trade rumor down. Maybe they dont respond to rumors and are trying to push JP and create competition. Maybe they are done with JP? I wonder how JP is feeling.
  3. Lets think about the Bills in 2008 competing for a championship. Assume:1)we solidify are team by focusing on meat and potatoes through the draft(rounds 2-4) and mid tear free agents(easy to do and consistent with Bills direction under new leadership and CBA),2)Championship teams need a good QB and a couple of stars/playmakers on each side of the ball,3)Defense wins championships(particularly in tough weather places ). Therefore,1)2006 see if young QBs on roster can develop by then, if not need to get a veteran next year because there is no time to start over with a rookie if 2008 is your target. Cant gamble on a rookie this year either because you have to focus on solidifing the team with your picks.2)Stars in FA are too expensive and too hard to get so you need to get them in the draft which generaaly means round 1. Since Bills have top10 this year and probably next get your stars here and focus on Defense. So i would stick at 8 and go for the playmaker on D, someone like Huff or Hawk. If the Bills dont see a special player then trade down and focus on solidifing the team. Some where you need to find the stars on D and a good QB
  4. We need to take a 2 year view. Are we trying to get younger? Get in good cap position? Sign solid young FA versus old big name guys? Looks that way to me. Having said that we need a good draft, extend Nate C, then find out if we have a QB and do it again nextyear. Given this view we must get a n impact player at 8 or trade for more picks. I would move Moulds if I could get a starter or a 3,otherwise I would keep him
  5. Yesterday I suggested we think about our strategy to get competitive over 2 or 3 years to include cleaning up the roster and letting the dead money clear out. Unless Moulds will stay near the top for 3 plus years we should let him go. WE will not be anywhere near a top tier team next year. WE still have several old expensive players left to cut this year or next. WE have to get an impact player at8 regardless of position or move down
  6. The Bills can not get from here to a top tier team in 1 year. If things work out well it will take 2 or 3 years. So, we need to let Moulds go unless we think he will be a top tier guy for 3 years. We need to clean up the roster and let the dead money clear out. Then we can sign Nate C and our right tackle to long term deals. WE need to find out this year if JP is our future, which means he needs at least 10 starts. We need to get a couple solid starters in FA in the 3 mill range but I think we will have some trouble competing so we need to target and be focused and aggressive. With 8 we need a star or move down. Can not afford a solid safe pick at 8. I would focus on the D in the draft and o line in FA and rounds 3plus. I thought our front was weak and slow. Both safeties need to go over the next 2 years, too old andtoo expensive. Finally I will be surprised if Willis M is here past his rookie contract. Good trade bait? If we want to compete for a Super Bowl this may be close to reality and suggest a framework for our offseason debate
  7. The key to the offense is developing the young guys on the line, at QB, reiever and tight end. We need ok left tackle from FA and depth in round 3 . The D needs to be rebuilt. We need DT(#1),cornerback(tag NC and trade for a 2), strong safety(use our other 2),linebacker(use o ther 3). Then add def end as our big free agent pick up. Go for a quick running back with 4 and a qb with 5. Let Milloy,Posey, BAndersongo. Keep Teague for 2 years as versatile veteran backup and resign Josh Reed. Keep Molds under 4 tear extension. Keep Williams for 1 year to see if he can be a top tier guard,if so sign to long term if not let him go. Finally give JP the keys for the year and see how he comes along. We need to be aiming at 2007 for a good run
  8. lets take MS and get going with what we need, impact players!
  9. WM is a power back, not quick or shifty. Need a good o-line for that. We need to mix in a change of pace back 7 to 10 carries a game. I would look for this in the 4th or 5th round.
