Thurman. He was the guy that made everything work.
That team was built around -- and carried by -- the offense. Thurman was the best offensive player (not just RB) in the league for two of those years.
Bruce was a close second, IMO. The defense never played at an equivalent level, even with Bruce. They would make splash plays and take aways, and beat up on inferior competition, but ultimately, were not stout enough to stop big, powerful running teams...

At least Williams has been able to stay on the field this year. That’s Milano’s biggest issue, he can’t stay on the field. Yes he’s technically only missed 4 games in his 4 years but every game he gets dinged up or comes up limp. And yet, every game he makes a big impact on the defense.
Dings are part of the game. Missing significant time (more than 4 games in 4 years) is unavailability--not a series here or even a game there...

Williams is going to be tough to re-sign on the cheap. Should make it even harder to keep Milano, unfortunately...

I've always liked Sully and still do. He is brutally honest and some people just couldn't handle it. Even now, any criticism of the Bills however valid evokes flames of wrath on this forum. Get over it. You don't live in a perfect world and honesty is no sin. I can't think of a single local sportswriter that's remotely as forthright or interesting as Sully.
Meh. Short memories make it easy to like people who take both sides of an issue and tell you how right they are all the time...

I have a big problem if the Bills are forced to move this game to Week 18. If they've already secured a wildcard slot, making them travel and play Week 18 runs the risk of incurring extra wear and tear or a key injury. And if their Widcard opponent doesn't play that week, obviously a big disadvantage in terms of preparation and rest.
The Titans game has to be made up well before the end of the season, preferably in the bye week. If not, I see a big problem with competitive balance...

Nope to tanking. IMO, there has been a spate of horrible GMs on a number of teams, which is coming home to roost.
On the other side, that's what makes Beane worth his weight in gold...

How has the NFL not said anything about this yet? They're dropping the ball. The Bills need to know what team to prepare for this weekend, or if they're going to play at all.
My guess is that we'll know by the end of today. The two-practice rule is in play here, so at worst, the game would need to be shifted. I think forfeit is definitely on the table, though...

My big question is this: How the heck is this Delta when we had a Laura? did someone at the NWS forget their alphabet?
Delta is the 25th named storm of 2020 and the ninth hurricane. Forecasters have had to resort to naming storms from the Greek alphabet after running out of 21 male or female storm names in September. Delta is the fourth storm named using the Greek alphabet (the others were Alpha, Beta and Gamma) and is now the strongest hurricane ever named after a Greek letter...

Meh. Too much focus on stats and analytics. Even with the great 4-0 start, stats will always be the secondary way to describe Josh's game...

OP - no offense, but you must be young or new to Buffalo.
Sully has done this many times in the past -- he has enormous contempt for readers, who he expects to have forgotten his cheerleading when he later turns around and says the Bills suck and I told you so...

seemed more creative and aggressive. I recall he did this last year when they were slumping too.
Just a guess.
That would appear to be incorrect:
McDermott said that the defensive mentality changed in the second half. He credited defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for dialing up some good defenses, too.
“The players responded. The fourth down stop was big for us as well as Q Jeff’s sack fumble and Josh’s (fumble recovery) really ignited the turnover situation there. Good to see,” McDermott said. Really proud of the defense and the way they responded with more work to do as a team."
