  1. I'm offering up a little prize to the first person in this thread who correctly predicts the 3 players the Bills will draft with their first 3 picks in the draft.

    The winner (if there is one) gets a $25 amazon.com gift card (sent via email to you).

    I haven't a clue. I won't even guess.

    But I had to reply to thank you for a great idea, one that is so much more in the spirit of TSW than much of the nonsense that is going on in other posts.

    Let me send you a :thumbsup: ...

  2. Well, I'll probably not enter, but my story involves the 1987 Bills v. Miami. The first regular season game (not played by replacement players) ever in Joe Robbie Stadium. The first game after the "replacement Players" debacle that year. Sunday, Oct 25.

    Not for the faint hearted. My story involves booze, drugs and the Metro Dade (?) police.

    Bills were down by 21 at halftime.

    I felt so depressed that I was ready to walk though the nearby Atlantic Ocean, on my way to Europe. But first, I decided to grab a couple of beers from the concession.

    My seat mate needed to use the head, and headed off.

    Several minutes later I saw him as he was being led down the mezzanine (or ring road, or whatever the hell they call the area outside of the bowl where you can get beer) by an armed Officer of the Law.

    Apparently due to his intake miscalculations, he had suffered a low blood sugar event and ended up on the floor of a Joe Robbie mens room, his actions and Jim Kelly jersey drawing derisive laughter from the locals.

    After several acts of Divine Providence, we actually made it back to our seats in time for the second half and were treated to a superb comeback, capped with a Bills W, 34-31 in OT.

    As we left the stadium, reinvigorated in more ways than one, the defeated looks on those Fish phans phaces were a joy and a marvel to behold. Happy time!

  3. Just because it is in limp mode (2nd gear, actually) does NOT mean it needs a new tranny. It could be something as simple as a defective input or output speed sensor. (Trust me, I've owned 3 Mopar minivans.)

    Get thee hence to a decent shop that has the proper scan tools. They will detect the problem instantly.

    If you do end up needing a rebuild, make ABSOLUTELY SURE that the people doing it are familiar with this transmission. Many shops fill these things with GM transmission fluid (sometimes using an "additive") that will kill the new unit in a year.

    Insist on ATF+4.

  4. Congratulations to you and your family!

    He also told me that "the guy who owns the Bills" directly funded the research. Ironic, no?

    This is why I'd like to kick the ignoramuses who parrot "Ralph is cheap" square in the nads.

    Let's see Kraft, Jones or Snyder pony up some $$$ for medical research.

  5. I thought you had them inversed as well. The Superbowl year Bills Uniforms were terrific, but since Greggy and his Titans uniform look-a-likes came along, I thought we were #1 and #2 in the league.

    Preach on Brother John!

    It was bad enough that we inherited Greggo/Jerry Gray/Eddie Robinson from the Oilers/Titans bunch of losers, but to adopt that uniform style was the ultimate slap in the face.

    I don't care if they wear pink ballerina outfits, but save me from that shiny pale blue crap that you see all the teenage "playas" wearing when you're downtown.

    This is Buffalo, for !@#$'s sake, not Houston or Memphis. Grow a set, be an individual, and respect tradition.

    Another mistake to be corrected from the failed TD experiment.

  6. Remember how the Bills cheapness with Joe Cribbs turned out?

    There's more to this story than just the Bills (alleged) cheapness. Cribbs' agent was Jerry Argovitz, who was a silent partner in a USFL team. His main (conflict of) interest was to get NFL players to defect to the new league. (Also see Billy Sims.)

    It is rumored that everytime the Bills thought they had a deal on Cribbs, Argovitz would come up with a new demand, thus re-opening negotiations. All the while, Argovitz knew what the USFL had to offer to beat the Bills' deal.

  7. Wondering what peoples' 5 all-time best Bills moments/events were, and 5 all-time worst.

    51 - 3;

    @ Miami 1987, Robb Riddick 3 TDs in 2nd half;

    vs New England early '80s Fergy to Roland Hooks;

    Mid '80s vs Dallas 2nd play Greg Bell TD (Landrys admitted "worst game");

    ANY late '80s early '90s K - Gun when McKeller was the next Winslow.

    Early '80s MNF @ Dallas when Fergy lost his shoe;

    Homerun ripoff;

    Roosevelt Leaks fumbling in Tampa;

    "Just give it to him";

    Andre Reed getting mugged in SB 26 & throwing his helmet in frustration, Washington safety (?) saying "Hey, Ref - look!" and flag being thrown.
