The main reason I was surprised by the weight was that he weighed in a the combine at 319lbs.....

  2. I know you have a cool attachment to him via school, but do you think he is a good pickup?

Honestly I wish we would fill areas of real need first but he's a playmaker and you can never have enough of them. My guess is they plan on expanding CJ's role in the offense a lot (duh) and don't want to risk injury to him in the return game. Brad Smith is a stand up guy, will be great in the locker room, and DYNAMIC in the return game. The fact that he didn't get voted into the Pro Bowl last year as a returner was a joke.

The key un-restricted free agents on the Bolts are safety Eric Weddle; line backer Kevin Burnett and Stephen Cooper, and wide receiver Malcolm Floyd. All four players played key roles for the team last year. Weddle, Burnett, and Cooper helped anchor a much improved defense that ranked #1 overall.

The Chargers next priority should be attempting to retain Kevin Burnett. Burnett racked in 95 total tackles, only 1 off the team lead. He is known for his ability to help clog up the run and read defenses well. However, Burnett can get around the edge and get sacks, he had 6 last year. The linebacker need is glaring for the Chargers; I would expect him to fill that need nicely. As bad as they do need Burnett, makes the need for teammate Stephen Cooper much less.

So wait he's good against the run and at rushing the passer from inside? Sounds better by the second. Sign this guy.
