  1. I dont't doubt Smith is more dynamic than Nassib for one second. But it isn't about that. Both played in very different systems and both excelled in their system. You could not put Nassib in WV's offense and expect him to be effective. Likewise the same is true of Smith lining up @ qb in Cuse's offense.

Right now, the Bills coaching staff has either completed or is very near completing their playbooks without free agency overwith and the draft 6 weeks away. What do you think is contained within the pages of their offensive playbook? The same terminology and plays as in Syracuse's offense plus some wrinkles that take into account the personnel. The qb is going to be asked to do the same thing that was done at Syracuse. I don't see Geno's skill set extrapolating well to that. If the Bills had a year to develop him before putting him in as a starter it would be different. But, with no starting qb, the Bills don't have the luxury of grooming a qb for a year and it makes no sense to bring in some FA qb and learn an offense for one year and then turn the reigns over to their 2013 draftee. They lose a full year of playing experience and the Bills don't get the full 5 year value they signed up for. In selecting Nassib, the coaching staff gets their guy. They would endorse that move. And, it kind of goes back to the old Parcells addage... that if I'm the cook, I'd like to do some of the grocery shopping.

A lot of fans are quick to say that bringing in Marrone and his college staff is one thing, but it's going too far to allow him to bring in his college players. I say that doesn't make sense. If he wants certain players, I say it's his job and what he believes he needs to succeed is what he believes he needs to succeed. It's his job to lose. Miami did the same thing last year when Tannehill followed his college coach and Chip Kelly did the same thing when he just acquired Dennis Dixon, one of his ex college QBs and said to be courting Dion Jordan... one of his players from last year.

For this Bills team and the current coaching staff, Nassib is plug and play from day one. Sure he needs refinement and will need to adapt to the NFL game speed. But he knows how to read defenses, the right blocking calls, the progressions, the coverages, and exactly when to throw and where to put the balll

I know a lot of fans aren't going to like this, but right now, Ryan Nassib is clearly the best fit for this Bills team, which has a vacancy at qb and needs a starter right away and gives them the benefit of 5 full years out of the gate. Nassib has a mature offensive line, mature backfield and rb weapon out of the backfield that he is going to love to throw to and recognize mismatches. Stevie is going to love Nassib. He is used to throwing to possession wrs that can separate and run precision routes because Nassib had no speed wideouts at Cuse. Tight ends? 27% of Nassib's completions this past season were to tight ends. And most of all, Nassib is going to benefit from a supporting cast the likes of which he's never had or been afforded. The first half of the season will be tough going, but the second half of the season we'll begin to see the progress and maturation.

This... Nassib is not the sexiest pick at QB, especially at #8. He is however the best fit for the Bills in this years draft class at QB. Take him at 8. Seriously what do we have to lose at this point? A 6-10 season? I would gladly take a chance on Nassib at #8 and see what he can do with his college coaches calling the shots. He may very well be the next Jim Kelly. He also may be a bust. Remember Tom Brady. He wasn't a sexy pick at all but he is now a guaranteed 1st ballot hall of famer.

  2. I think David Lee may have something to do with what we see on the field this season. We know Fitz was mistake prone but he could gut out a win. See NE and OAK games last year. He isn't a pocket passer which I think Lee is trying to force him to be. I also think prior to his contract extension there were no real expectations placed on him. Once the extension came it almost appeared he stopped with the gun slinging and tried not to lose. Expectations wether his own or somebody else's could very well be the problem.

  3. This is what I thought as well. He didn't lead with his head, he didn't "launch" himself at Fitz, he didn't go low. He had his head up, wrapped his arms around him and took him down hard. Yeah, his face mask made contact with Fitz's helmet but he didn't spear him.

This idea that a guy running full speed, trying to get past blocks and tackle a guy who is trying to get away from him can tackle the QB with his head in his chest perfectly every single time is ludicrous.

I saw the play and said, "thanks fot the 15 yards but that looked okay to me."

You cant make contact with the QB's head. Thats the rule. I bet if Fitz's helmet satyed on it would have been a non call. But the contact was obvious in this case. The Ref had no choice but to call it.

  4. My guess is contrary.

Thank gosh someone said it. Even if it was not directly directed at the semi pro skater M Williams. I am sure it's a shot at Wanny and Chan for not maintaining accountability and discipline with the left hand.

You cant? well therein lies the problem!

Exactly! This team will only be as good as it's leaders. KW has leader written all over him he just needs to be confident enough to put it out there. On the other hand if Chan or The Stache did what Kelsay did behind closed doors this team might be better off. Its very telling when the vets need to go to the media to get their points across.

  5. I would not describe the Bills O line as gifted. That said I remain suprised there is no mention at all of the new QB coach Lee and his impact on Fitz.

He is really helping isn't he? Another example of a poor coaching selection IMO.

I think this may actually be some of the problem with Fitz right now. They need to stop trying to make him something he's not and just let him go out there and do his thing. The results really can't be much worse

  6. Love that damn show... This type of signing would be epic like.

Amen brother - I haven't been this excited since Jack Hoffman declared "this is some "hawwwt" stuff on Gold Rush.......Go Bills. If we actually sign these guys my wife will have to wash our sheets tomorrow.

  7. Did similar in CNY.. I have a "parking for Bills fans only" sign that went around my block with me screaming like a maniac... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GO BUFFALO!!!! Oh.. I have no voice left either

I ran up and down my block and stopped at the corner by my neighbors who have a patriots flag and did the lights out dance and chanted 3 and 0 than back to my house....I live in NJ lol

  8. I just don't get the hatred for Fitzpantsdown.... All the guy does is try to win games and there's a bunch of negativity thrown his way. He might not be our future but he is our right now and he and Freddy J are the only real offensive weapons we have right now...

    Fitzpathetic sounds better.

EDIT: Holy crap, that nickname kicks ass. The next time he throws a pass 3 yards over an open receiver's head, jump up and say, "That's Fitzpathetic! C'mon!"

  9. ok, he's trying to carry the unit, but isnt/cant. probably because the rest of the players know he is a backup at best.

either way, you can see that there are no recognized, respected leaders on either side of the ball.

True.. There are no recognized, respected leaders. I agree Fitz probably can't carry the unit but I appreciate him trying. Unfortunately this team is lost and it will take leaders at all levels to bring them back around. Among other things..

  10. agreed, leaders in sports must first lead with their play. if you cant be great, you cant get on other grown men about their play. we have no one that plays well, let alone great.

its obvious from watching the games that there are no leaders on this team. no one on either side of the ball is trying to carry the unit.

I would disagree. Fitz may not be the most talented QB but he was playing with some fight on Sunday as he usually does. What he lacks in talent he makes up for in spirit and drive. Too bad the rest of the team couldn't jump on his wagon and at least try..

  11. 10 Years of SUCK, then we get a HC/GM tandem that are actually doing the job they were hired for and people are ready to jump under the nearest moving object. The timing is not great. It should have been done in the off season. Chan obviously wanted to see if he could straighten Trent out. No harm in that. He was given the ultimate vote of confidence by Chan when he was named the starter. He had the good practice showings, the good pre-season which earned him the starter spot. Come opening day he choked (for whatever reason) He was then given another chance and not only did he choke but flat out let his coaches, teammates, the Bills organization and fans down with his play in the 2nd game. He had the perfect opportunity to step up and show everyone why he should be the undisputed leader of the team. He left the field with his tail between his legs.

The Trent that was released yesterday is not the same Trent that was endorsed by Bill Walsh. He had no fire, no spark, no fight left in him for the regular season. I think those involved saw there was no help for him at this point in his career with the Bills and did the only thing they could.

  12. He's been one of my favorite non-Bills players for a while now. The guy is a pure football player and he's the heart and soul of that D. Players of his ilk don't come along very often. Love watching the dude play ball!

He's got enough swagger to carry his team. 15yr vet and plays at a level most 3rd year guys try to achive. Unbelievable...

  13. I would even take it a step further and say "Stable" of rb's... They all seem to be ballers... We know what we have in ML... FJ is a gamer and CJ could be a game changer. Joique Bell (sp?) is good too. It's one poaition we seem to be pretty good at.

Yay!!! Let's bash a good Bill to praise another!!!

Crazy thought: why can't we just be happy that we have the best trio of rbs in the league?
