  1. Buddy Nix was the scout for the Southeast during his tenure for the Bills. During this time the Bills drafted the following players from his region:(bolded are ones that had "decent" contributions for the Bills)

    93: Thomas Smith, Sebastian Savage

94: Bucky Brooks, Lonnie "friggin" Johnson, Marlo Perry, Corey Louchey, Sean Crocker

    95: Damien Covington, Ken Irvin

96: Eric Moulds, Gabe Northern, Matt Stevens

    97: Jamie Nails, Sean Woodson

98: Sam Cowart, Robert Hicks, Jonathan Linton

99: Peerless Price, Sean Bryson, Keith Newman, Bobby Collins

00: Travares Tillman, Corey Moore, Avion Black

Most of these picks were in 5th round or earlier

Covington was a good pick. His career was cut short.

  2. Kelly wanted to play for Marchibroda. But, mainly due to his son's health at the time, he thought it best to spend time with his family.... at least that's how I remember this played out.

Yeah, he flirted with the idea and I think it was kind of a mutual decision in the end from both the teams and him to stay retired.

  3. I don't know much about the legal side of things, so let's see if anybody can offer me some advice. Here's the rundown:

My wife has worked for a very wealthy man (> $300 million) as a nanny/personal assistant for about 9 months. This man has to have the highest turnover rate possible because of his narcissistic and demanding ways. The way this guy treats his employees is like something you'd see in a movie. He has up to 10 people working in his home on a daily basis. His turnover rate has been so high, that my wife had the most experience with him in her 5th month! But, why did my wife stay? She was being paid over 60k...that's why.

Well, she finally decided last week that it was just not worth it and put her 2 weeks notice in. At the time, she had worked so much overtime that he owed her $2200 on her next check. We have never had a problem receiving the overtime, but in this instance he told her he'd split it up into $1100 on one check and the other half on the next. Well, three days after my wife put in her two weeks, he called and fired her over the phone for "lack of production". That's b.s., but whatever.

So, he gives my wife a confidentiality form to sign (cause he's kind of a celebrity) so she doesn't rat on all the drugs he takes and whatnot. On the form, it says that he'll pay her $1250 upon her leaving to cover one week of work plus severance pay. Yet, it does not say anything about the other $1100 that she is owed. Therefore, she's obviously not going to sign it.

Here's the dilemma... My wife has been trying to contact his accountant numerous times in the past few days, yet she is being ignored. So, she tried to contact her boss and got his voicemail. She left a very kind message that she will not sign the papers until she is properly paid. So, in response, he had one of his minions call her and tell her to leave him alone and stop calling.

What should we do? I feel like going through court would be a waste of time because this guy is being sued by 4 other people right now and has the finest lawyers money can buy, while we definitely can't afford that. And, he's the kind of guy that would fight such a small amount of money in court just to make a point. Any realistic thoughts or suggestions?

    This is not legal advice.

Consider two cheap options: not paying wages, including overtime, most likely violates the Fair Labor Standards Act and a similar state law. Consider getting in touch with your state's department of labor and/or the US DOL: http://www.dol.gov/cgi-bin/compliance_contactus.asp They may be able to help you.

Second option is small claims court, which doesn't force you to pay for the lawyer (with such a small amount at stake, you would want to be fighting this over principle if you got a lawyer involved). You don't *need a lawyer* for any claim, but you will most likely fail in other court by yourself. I also assume that your wife isn't eligible for legal aid?

If it were me, I would try getting the money back through the labor enforcement first.

  4. When someone is driving on the highway and they want to change lanes don't speed up when they put their signal on.

If I'm gonna change lanes I make sure I'm not gonna cut the person off. So when I put on my turn signal you're being a dick if you speed up to pass me before I can change lanes. A lot of the time when this happens the A-hole has a long line of cars behind him. Sometimes you'll get a nice guy who slows down to let you in but that does not negate the assheadedness of the first guy.

If you see somebody put on their turn signal to get into your lane, slow down a little to let them in. Is that so hard to understand.

Being indecisive can be worse. Perhaps these people worry that they are in your blind spot and are trying to escape it.

  5. The problem is the race to the bottom among cities. Especially in the 90s, it was about who was willing to waste more public tax money on luring a team from another or to keep their team from moving.

If there was some way to stop all municipalities from subsidizing these teams, that would be ideal. It's just like all those states giving away tons in subsidies and tax breaks in order to bring in some factory. I think for the Hyundai plant in Alabama, the cost was something like $150K per job. Hyundai came out like bandits playing one state off of the other in order to get the sweetest goody basket.

To be fair to Ralph, I don't know of any other owner in the NFL with a worse NFL stadium than RWS who is not whining and threatening in order to get a new stadium.

  6. I just realized how much I really miss football when the season is over.

Ya know how once the season is over you say "I'd kill to watch ANY NFL game". Well, this is it. SF vs TEN. Not that the game is terrible. Its 24-20 in the 4th. Its the fact that there cannot be more than 250,000 in this entire country that give a **** about this game. I liked DET vs STL better as it was like watching the toilet bowl game. But this? This is just awful. Thanks CBS.

CBS didn't pick it, your local affiliate did. Mine chose the Giants and Chargers.
