  1. Kelly - juvenile??? Shown little evidence that he's willing to work at anything?

Congratulations - you just won Retard-of-the-Year!

Unless you think founding and running 2 charitable foundations (Hunter's Hope Foundation and Kelly for Kids Foundation) and a research center (HJK Research Center for Krabbe Disease), tirelessly raising money to fund that center and other research institutions working to find a cure for all dystrophic illnesses, tirelessly traveling the country to testify before State Legislatures and the US Congress for universal newborn screening for Krabbe's and all other dystrophic diseases, in addition to Jim's very busy public speaking schedule and his annual football camps for kids are all just a lazy man's way of killing time, that is.

Yep, there's a guy who shows little evidence that he's willing to work at anything. Forget about all the hard work and dedication is took to become the HOF QB that he is, too! Someone needs to light a fire under that lazy, juvenile slacker.

If you weren't so busy sticking your nose up Mike Leach's ass on this board, you would have noticed that I used the word juvenile to describe fan boys who bring up Jim Kelly's name every time we begin another coaching search.

Now go put on your pink, autographed Mike Leach panties and finish your day.

  2. Wow. You're an unbelievable ass. He's lazy? Are you freaking kidding me? Did you ever stop to think for one second WHY he wasn't going at the grind of the NFL coach, etc? He wasn't willing to work at anything?

You're a complete doughebag. He dealt with having a son with Krabbe disease. And he kind of built from the ground up the most successful foundation program of it's kind pertaining to the disease. What the hell have you ever done?

Kelly not working in the NFL right now has nothing, I mean nothing to do with his son having Krabbe disease. :w00t:

I stand by what I said 100%- if Kelly is too lazy to work himself up the ladder the right way(see Jim Harbaugh at Stanford)

he needs to keep stay in the stands. If not in the stands ,he needs to hang out with all of his imaginary billionaire friends who plan on buying the Bills.

  3. Well, Kelly would deserve to be anointed more than 95% of the other ex-players out there. I mean no other QB has taken their team to 4 straight super bowls. He is a HOF'er and he has earned that privilege I believe.

Sorry, he doesn't deserve to be anointed for being too damn lazy.

Kelly was a great Bill, but the complexity of the game has changed mightily since he was a QB in the league.

This, he was a great QB, he would make a great OC, is juvenile in my opinion, and is usually held by the Bills fans who think with emotion rather than a brain.

He has been out of the league since 1996 and has shown little evidence that he will willing to work at anything, much less the grind that is the life of a successful NFL coach.

Move on- the 1990's are over.

  4. He has also stated multiple times that he would not have any interest in coaching unless it was a head coaching position.

All the more reason why these Kelly threads are always so annoying.

Every other ex-player has to work there way up the ladder to be head coach, but Kelly would expect to be anointed.

  5. As per The National Football Post:

Brian Brohm has left the Green Bay Packers' building, and their roster.

Brohm decided tosign a two-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday night despite an offer to rejoin the Packers' active roster, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Brohm has been on the Packers' practice squad since being cut Sept. 5 heading into the regular season.

Per the report, Brohm was offered an identical deal to the one the Bills extended.

And the Packers had an opening after cutting wide receiver Jake Allen.

Brohm is a former second-round draft pick from Louisville who has struggled in the NFL following a prolific college career.

The Bills could offer him an opportunity to jumpstart his career with a fresh start on a team that currently has Ryan Fitzpatrick as its starter ahead of Trent Edwards.

  6. Per Rotoworld

NFL.com's Vic Carucci reports that the Bills will meet with former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan next week.

Carucci confirms that Shanahan is Buffalo's "No. 1" head coaching target. The meeting will involve owner Ralph Wilson and COO/GM Russ Brandon, who Shanahan would probably give a pink slip to if he's hired. It's well known that Shanahan wants full control of football operations, even if taking on such responsibilities didn't work out towards the end of his Broncos stint. Wilson is reportedly willing to offer The Mastermind any amount of salary to take the job.

  7. Marc Trestman's coaching stops

    1981-82 University of Miami (VC)

    1983-84 University of Miami (QC)

    1985-86 Minnesota Vikings (RBC)

    1987 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (QC)

    1988 Cleveland Browns (QB)

    1989 Cleveland Browns (OC)

    1990-91 Minnesota Vikings (QC)

    1995-96 San Francisco 49ers (OC/QC)

    1997 Detroit Lions (QC)

    1998-00 Arizona Cardinals (OC/QC)

    2001 Oakland Raiders (QC)

    2002-03 Oakland Raiders (OC)

    2004 Miami Dolphins (QC/AHC)

    2005-06 North Carolina State (OC/QC)

    2008-Present Montreal Alouettes (HC)

That's a lot of coaching stops. Only twice in the same spot for three straight seasons (Arizona and Univ. of Miami) having coached since 1981?!?!?

He was coaching on productive teams with Cleveland, San Francisco and Oakland, but he moves around enough to make Lou Saban's suitcase drool.

That is even an uglier resume than Turk Schonert's.

Maybe the ugliest I have ever seen for a man being considered for a head coaching job in the NFL.

He certainly isn't on the fast track.

I especially love the out of the league stint from 1991-95.

  8. Ryan Mallett from Arkansas.

I know it's early, but Jake Locker will probably be gone before we pick, and IMHO Mallett is the second best prospect at the QB position.

Mallett is 6-6 220, and has arguably the strongest arm in college football.

    Scouts.Com blurb:

"One of the top junior quarterback prospects in the nation. Has the size, arm strength, (70+ yards), throws a very good deep ball and has the brains both on and off-the-field. Needs to work on his mobility and his short and intermediate passing".

I'm hoping Dave McBride will dust this post off after the draft and bump it to show my keen eye for talent.

  9. No brainer. Ray Rice will be a first rounder in drafts next year.

He's also young, plays on a team that is committed to running the football and hasn't had his career year yet.

His potential is huge-he's just scratching the surface.

  10. Jim Harbaugh is certainly a consideration if we hire an experienced GM and they deem him a worthy candidate.

One thing of note -here is an old report from The Associated Press from 1997:

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jim Harbaugh was hoping to settle a dispute by having a conversation with former Buffalo Bills quarterback and NBC analyst Jim Kelly.

Instead, Harbaugh settled the dispute with his fists.

Harbaugh sustained a small fracture in his right hand Saturday when he slugged Kelly. Harbaugh now stands to miss at least two games - including Nov. 9 against the Bengals - and two pay checks.

''I consider this something personal between Jim Kelly and I. We settled things,'' Harbaugh said.

Apparently, Kelly had questioned Harbaugh's toughness while working as an analyst.

  11. I've always been a fan of Marv as a person and hold in high esteem all those that helped make our glory years possible.

The bottom line is that not only did Marv do a horrible job as a GM, but he also QUIT on what he assembled here way before any of us did.

  12. I have 2 Basenji dogs.

Zoey will be 10 this month, Niko will turn 3.

Basenji's are known as the barkless dog from Africa.

Out of Africa, the Basenji was originally found in the Congo. He uses both scent and sight to hunt and was originally used to flush small game into a hunter's nets and to control village rodent populations. Clever and endearing, he's a good companion for the person or family who can stay a step ahead of him.
