  1. Though we would like to believe the lost to the Steelers put the final nail in. This team according to my buddy is still very much alive. A miracle needs to happen for it to come to fruition but given Denver's remaining schedule is it possible that they could lose all three? Lets see New England, KC and Oakland is it possible. If it happens all the Bills need to do is win out. And ask for a few miracles along the way. Miami needs to lose 2 of 3 (all three if we don't look good in the tie breaker at the end of then season) , Baltimore needs to lose 2 of 3. Tennessee needs to lose 2 of 3. and Indy needs to lose 1.

Do I think all these teams are going to tank down the finish. No I don't. But what I do see is the reason why Rex is still the head coach. We are mathematically in it and if all the pieces miraculously fall in place the team will be in the playoffs. Thus you cannot make the change at the helm at either QB or Head Coach until the FAT LADY officially sings her song. Provided we beat the Browns the only way we can be eliminated this week is with a loss or a Denver win. Which would mean that we are still playing meaningful games you don't throw in the towel when there are meaningful games left on the table.

Don't get me wrong I think the season is over myself. But as my friend keeps pointing out to me there are still chances that we get in and as long as he has hope you cannot make a change and If I am Rex I am laying it out on the line win the next three games and see where the rest of the AFC lands.

  2. I see the doom and gloom in the post about our playoff chances. I still believe there is a scenario that’s is going to play out. Look at the Pats Schedule they will lose their 3 away games I am almost willing to put money on that fact. So if the Patriots lose 3 of their next six games they will be 10-5 going up against us in the last game. If we win 4 of the next six games we will be 9-6 going into that last game. As long as we beat Miami and Jets we would be playing for the AFC East in that final game. Because if we beat the Pats we are tied in head to head but we will have the better division record. What better scenario could we ask for beat the Pats and we are in…

    Thoughts on this happening?

  3. First we have to beat the Patriots the team that seems to control this teams psyche each season. Living in the New England area I would love to see this extremely meaningful game go our way for once. How often to we get a chance to knock the Patriots out of first place if we win. When was the last time the Pats lost their first two divisional games. ITs going to be a playoff atmosphere at the Ralph this week and if we truly want to be a playoff team and earn the respect of the league the Patriots are a MUST WIN game. I truly believe we will win and it will catapult this team to a true playoff contender.

I also told my fellow Bills FAN that we would bench EJ and Orton would win his all his games but Denver and Greenbay. There is to much talent on this team not to make the playoffs this year. QB play is the only thing that has been holing us back and I think Orton can be our Trent Dilfer this season.

  4. I know some asked for the link in other threads, didn't see any so here it is.

""Gailey said today that he thinks the Bills, based on the team they already have and the additions they’re going to make in free agency and the draft, have a good chance of being the 2012 AFC East champions.""

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/13/chan-gailey-bills-are-confident-we-can-win-the-afc-east/

FINALLY a coach or Buffalo bill executive NOT conceding the division to the Pats and hoping for a wild card spot. Things are turning around just wait and see!!!!!

  5. Not sure who is going to sign him. I'm guessing at least $15M/year. That's a big cap hit for any team.

Cut Spencer johnson and chris kelsay use their combine 8 mil becuse neither one of them are worth the money and merrimen is worth somewher betwwen 5-8 so we got the money. I say worth the price hopefully more of a backloaded contract then a front loaded one

  6. Will Gailey get us to the playoffs? We should all be held accountable for this. I say yes.

Absolutely I am so sure of this I already have a bet for the upcoming season. We are on the cusp of being a winning team. We have been losing for so long that we are overally critical of what is actually going right for this team that some of us are just dont want to take off the blinders quite yet because it is so painful. Look at the Superbowl teams. We beat one the first time around and had a 21-0 lead before it went arye. We had the Giants beat before the defense gave up the TD we are not as far off as people would think. A few good signings, a solid draft and some key undrafted depth and alot of luck on avoiding the injury bug and this team is in the playoffs next season.

  7. prob that Fitz stunk and the injuries are not an acceptable excuse as to why

Its very tiresome to see the majority blame fitz. However fitz played with several wrs/rotating lines and Rbs and witht he exception of the high turnover he has been the best QB we have had since Flutie was in the starting role. People are eluding the fact the Fitz has put the offense in a position to win 5 of those games we lost. Hes not a superhero and its hard to win a game with a minute left on a clock as a case on two of those 5 losses. But the defense cannot hold any opposing offense. The defense collapsed in Cinnicinati, Giants, Second game of the Jets, and the Titan game. More imoportantly they gave up 49 unanswered points after having a 21 point lead, If you even look at the losses the defense gave up 21 straight points without a stop. Defenses win chanmpionships whichn is the reason you will not see NE winning ine this year.

  8. Look back at the recent history of the 49ers:

    2005 4-12 HC Mike Nolan

    2006 7-9 HC Mike Nolan

    2007 5-11 HC Mike Nolan

    2008 7-9 HC Mike Singletary

    2009 8-8 HC Mike Singletary

2010 6-10 HC Mike Singletary 5-10 interim HC Jim Tomsula 1-0

Mediocre right? Middle of the pack to low end drafting right? About the same as the Buffalo Bills 7-9, 7-9. 7-9, 6-10, 4-12, right?

Look what a new head coach hire can do to a team, with NO OFF SEASON to speak of....One new HCing coaching hire in Jim Harbough and the team is not only in the playoffs but could be fighting for home field thru out.....amazing!

A top 5 defense that hasn't allowed a rushing TD this year! With Donte Whitner starting !

A refurbished failure of a QB who has basically stunk it up his entire career until he plays for a HC that knows how to set up the offense to help him.

Is Alex Smith suddenly an "elite" QB? Oh, but the team is winning, and is 11-3 under a new HC? He must be a an "elite" " Franchise" QB because a team can't win without one...

I don't understand this fan base, half the fans here think Gailey is doing good at 5-9. Half the fans here think Buddy Nix is doing a good job. Most of the fans are still blaming Jauron / Levy for lack of talent, and still state its lack of player talent that is responsible for all the losses

What a crock of horse-crap, its the lack of talent in coaching that has ruined this franchise over the last decade, and continues to ruin it, pure and simple.

49 ers have great talent on both sides of the ball. Also take into consideration the exception of the Packers the rest of the NFC is nowhere near as competitive as the AFC. Basically i am stating they would not have the same record if they were in the afc.

  9. It's hard to argue that a guy riding a 9-game losing streak should be brought back, unless you're just a fan of streaks in general.

When did he lose 9 games straight we have only lost 7 straight. If anyone needs to be fired its definately George edwards his unit has cost this team 3 games this season during the losing streak, Not to mention the hole he has put this team in to start amlost everygame this season.

Gailey is good for another season of evalution before I say fire him. However if he doesnt fire george edwards that would be enough for me to fire him because he doenst know what the hell hes doing then.

  10. It's a lack of investment.

To be sure, the Bills lack roster depth, as they have for two decades. But I get concerned when posters and writers refer to this issue as though it's the cause of the Bills' current woes - it isn't. Rather, it's a symptom of a lack of investment in the product by OBD. To call the problem a "lack of depth" suggests that the issue can somehow be cured through one or two more drafts. But we all know that isn't the case, because the Bills have shown over and over again that they won't (i) re-sign their own players at market rates, or (ii) spend on free agents to improve the roster. So all that happens through the draft is a recylcing process, whereby we let Poz/Whitner walk and draft Sheppard/Searcy to replace them. Next year no doubt we'll draft Evans' replacement.

The fundamental problem is a lack of investment by the owner and his bean counters. The entire concept of "building through the draft," as preached by Nix, is a sham, because the philosophy doesn't work if you don't continue to accumulate players through free agency or re-signing your own guys. In order to have depth, you need to invest $$ in your personnel, in at least one of those two ways. The Bills do neither. Most successful teams focus on at least one or the other - Green Bay and Pittsburgh draft well and tend to re-sign their best players to second contracts (though not all of them); San Francisco has 7 starters this year that it signed as free agents.

Again, I know this isn't a new point - we all know where the Bills' struggles derive from. I just don't want the discussion about "lack of depth" to lose sight of what the issue really is. The Bills don't invest. They don't rebuild - they recycle. They are built to turn a profit for their ownership with minimal personnel expenditures, and they have succeeded in doing so. They are built to sell tickets in July and August. They are not built to compete in December and January.

but they do resign their own players at higher then what the market would have paid for them. Such as Kelsay and no matter what type of talent you may state that Evans had he was a one trick pony not worth the money he was paid either. They also over paid for schobel who nwas a talented bill but really the price we paid him is more then any other team would have paid for them.

We have several issues that need to be corrected.

    1. The current owner only cares about the bottom line: Profit. Not winning. Until we can get a new owner this will not change.

    2. The drafts prior to this year have been horrendous. I think that they might be turning a corner. We will have to waid to see how the 2012 draft pans out before I believe that we have finally cured this woe.

    3. We are overvaluing certain players based on potential or possible potential and neither of them win football games. I dont care who on this board likes either of the LTs that we have been playing the both are not starting material and we are in desperate need of filling that hole and I hope they do so this off season.

The biggest question I would have if I am the Bills front office is Steve Johnson worth 9 mil a year. I dont have that answer right now. I see flashes of greatness followed by flashes of what the hell are you doing. However after johnson we don have any #1 or # 2 reecievers so either resign and hope the investment pans out or find 2 starting recievers. Kelsay is seriously overpaid and should not be a LB in this leaugue at all. I would love to see him cut personally. Merriman is never going to be anything he once was we love his name becaus eof what he once was but just like your fantasy team you need to know when to cut the player so we can have someone that actually helps the tean now.

    4. Our problem is not whether we have a 3-4 or a 4-3 or not having players to run either or a hybrid of the two its that George Edwards just plain sucks he does not know how to scheme and run the right pressures or right palys at the right times and that defense has cost us atleast 3 games this season. We need a real DC that knows how to scheme and call a good to great game. This is whats going to help the offense woes. The team was winning when the defense was giving them turn overs only problem was they also gave up huge yards and lots of points. I would be seriously pissed if he is not fired at the end of the season.

    5. Not going after atleast 1 or 2 key free agents I think hurt us this season. We waited until we could get the bottom of 2nd tier to 3rd teir free agents and that is not going to win games either, I hope the fast start and the injuries this team suffered opens the eyes to try and get one or two good to great free agents. I dont believe we need a ton of them but two solid players of the following group would be a great upgrade to this team LT/LB/WR/CB

Contrary to everyone elses thoughts on the board I dont feel a qb is needed in this draft. I like fitz ( this a quality statemnt since I never wanted him in the first place he has the intangibles that we cannot predict in anyone else) and its a shame to see the struggles but how much of is him or not being on the same page with the recievers or being down by two many points and trying to force things more then he should. Hear me out, if they build the team defense to offense and if Fitz still has issues after giving him better defense and offense players then you can go after a QB but atleast the team would be close to ready for the QB then it is right now. I have a great feeling ans I stated it at the beginning if the seaon to alot of people I know. We may not be great this season at best we would go 8-8 but we have some players on the rise and those players and this team with another quality draft and good free agent sigings will compete for the east next season. I am never that optimistic I always look at things from a realistic point of view. I see this happening. With Fitz in the driver seat.

  11. Whatever the case may be... The math can be wrong and the stats for him being the least sacked QB may be true but that's only cuz he gets rid of the ball so quick and his receivers are never in position 2 catch the ball... Sometimes he throws a catchable ball and the receivers drop it yes i know, but, some throws make you jump up and say where the hell was he going with that throw... The beginning of the season I got used to him throwing sort of effectively but the past 7 or 8 games I'm just like damn, where's the QB in the beginning of the season at? How do u just collapse like that? I'm still getting away from the point at hand though. I'm not saying I want a new QB, I'm saying the one we have isn't the one... We're forced to play him and believe in him cuz we paid him... Fitz is our guy for at least another year or two that's a guarantee. This is definitely not a post of we need a new QB or anything like that. I just hope that one day we can have a QB where we can watch him throw for over 300 yards a game and not lose our minds over it... If Fitz threw for 400 plus yards we'd all lose our minds cuz we've never seen that happen in Buffalo... Yet it happens on almost every other team for more than two games a year... Brady, Eli, Rivers, Ryan, Newton, Peyton (when healthy), Rothlisberger and a couple others I can't think of right now have 300 yard passing games all the time and to them it's just another day at the office... It's what's expected out of a QB... The reason Fitz, Trent, and Losman would always have those 150 yard days is cuz we always check the ball down and can't distribute the ball down the field "accurately"... It's always either a hail mary type throw or gun slinging into double and triple coverage type downfield throws... Unfortunately Bledsoe was the last "real" QB we had... We somehow ended his career with a horrible offensive line too... Either way it is what it is and I will root for Fitz cuz i sure as hell am not trying to see Thigpen play... Fitz is our guy and I'm along for the ride with him. We need to focus on defense and o-line and I'm sure it'll help Fitz be more confident and in 2 years we can spend a 1st round draft pick on a QB and groom the kid for 1 year and he should be surrounded by good talent... Too bad Nix doesn't believe in free agency so as long as he's GM we gotta pray we hit on every pick in the draft...

I sorry you feel the need for us to go after another QB whichn leads to another followed by another etc....

The stats do tell a little bit of a story he is 12th in passing yards, 11 in passing attempts, 9th in completions, 11th in tds, but he does have problem areas 3rd in most ints, 18 th in QB rating (effected by ints) and 22 in average, The recievers have 19 dropped passes thats not even including tipped balls or deflected balls. the recievers are 12th in yac with 1557 and Pats are #1 with 2132. Essentially you want to give up a top 12 QB at hopes of a QB rookie somehow in the next 2 or 3 years of agony reaching the top 5. Fitz in 1 solid #2 reciever and Health OL and a Defense away from easily being a top 10 QB. I dont know hoe many games you may watch but several top 10m qbs go 3 and out alot of times and the defense keeps them in the game not ours. Also when the team is down by so many points and your trying to get back into it there tends to be bad passes or head scratching decisions. We dont have the players for him to carrying the offense. Peyton is a top 3 QB and he throws a lot of head scratching throws and ints. So Ill take our FitzPatrick and build a more solid team around him considering he has thrown for over 3000 yardes in two seasons with out playing a full 16g= games in either season as of yet.

Stop letting the losing cloud the judgement about what this team truly needs. We are a WR/ LT and a DC + defense away from being a true contender next season. I see it. Every team has the head scratching game, and the SB Bills of the past had many of those including 4 SB losts.

and they had elite players. Look at the Bengals,Jets game, the Titans game, The Giants game the defense lost those games more then the offense did. So if we actually won those would you be saying the same thing considering we would be 9-4. Its easy to put the blame on the qb and first Jets game/Miami/Dallas and the SD game are all on him thats 3 games he he lost but not just because he couldnt get things going but he was coming from a deficit that the Defense buried him in. Give it another season. Im telling you as long as the front office takes care of the teams needs and fires George Edwards we will be in the thick of things next season. Im not being optimistic. I see it. Its painful to lose and be on this awful skid but to me the Defense is more atrocious to watch then any player on the offense next to spiller getting stuffed on almos every carry.

  12. You and many other who may agree with you have the right to that opinion. However, FITZ does not play defense and the defense has lost more games then any othe aspect of our team.

If you are listing two things this team needs its this:

1.Fire George Edwards and Hire a DC or promote to DC DW.

    2. LT- This is one of the other biggest issues this season though it has been ok its too much in flux need an anchor on that side.

Fitz will win games he will not win 16 but he will win 10-11 over a regular season as long as the defense can keep them in games after he puts them in position to win in the 4th qtr and as long as he has time to throw.

I read everyone talking about an elite QB you put Brady, Rodgers or Brees behind this line and tell me will they look Elite or pedestrian?

  13. The Bills need an elite QB. I like Fitz. With a good defense, he can get you into the playoffs. But thats about it. If they have a shot at an elite QB, they need to go for it. Chances like these do not come often. They can fix the D in the later rounds and in free agency and get an experienced Defensive Coordinator.

What makes am elite QB? When is a QB label Elite first year, 3rd year 5th year. Teams need to be built completely before entering a QB into the mix IE Pats/ Pitt/ Giants/ Chargers/ GB

This team does not need a QB. The QB has only lost 3 games becuase of lack of offense but the same could be said about the defense giving up too much of a hole in those same 3 games but the defense has lost the games for us not the QB. I like the direction of the team and once they fix the defense we will be going deep into the playoffs. Tired of all yopu fair weather fans who are taking the pain of losing as FITZ is the poroblem he is not the problem George Edwards and the whole defense is the problem and it needs to be fixed first and foremost.

  14. For a team that is usually cheap and stingy we would have probably been able to get Fitz for half the price at this rate.

Why in the world would we negotiate mid-season, I am not saying Fitz isn't worth it (which he is not) but I just don't get it.

We do nothing in Free Agency and are cheap for everything except Kelsay and Fitzpatrick's recent deals.

You go into the season not even knowing if Fitz is your starter and 6 games in you pay him 60 mill.......what Can I say, nobody circles the wagons like the.......well you get it

ill state this first: I never like the original signing of Fitz. I couldnt wait for his contract ot be done and hime to be gone so we could have real talent competition at the position. Fast forward mid season last year and I liked what I saw of this guy. He has everything we have been looking for in a qb that you dont even know if you will get out of an unknown signing. He is tough, he is willing to give his guys a chacne to get the ball even if its not the smartest play, he has leadership that noone has had since flutie. He has the respect of his offense. He is 12 in yards passing, 12 in passing rating and 7 in tds thrown. With the exception of his three games (which i serioulsy believe he had a lingering injury from the hit he took in washington) he has been playing well. Unfortunately not everything is quite there yet but he has improved in each season and I only expect him to be better next year hopefully with a more cemented OL that can protect the pass and open the holes for the run.

Therefore being the guy who hated his sigining from day one I am applauding the resiging and expect good to great things form him and the offense next season. Rember he does not play defense and the defense is our achilles heel this season more so then the offense.

  15. As disappointed as some fans might be due to their start or whatever your feelings are of Ryan Fitzpatrick this team is on the rise and Id like to put out what i think the team needs to continue its rise and to gauge what other may be thinking about it as well.

QB- Not a need Ryan Fitzpatrick my least favorite signing ever but most applauded resigning. He is a leader and he gets the offense to play at a higher level then they could with any other QB. He is improving constantly. He might not be the epitomy of the elite qb that some fans so yearn but he will get the job done. If you think about he only lost 3 games by not getting the offense going. The defense has let us down more often the not in the final minutes of the game. I like where he is taking this team.

RB- not impressed with spiller still not a need becuase his hands out of the backfield are very good.If he can improve his vision over the remainder of the season and resign Freddy and we have a good 1-2 punch in the RB dept.

WR- There is a need for a min of 1- need to resign Steve Johnson, say what you will about his antics the kid is a player and has been playing with a groin injury and a shoulder injury compliment him with someone fast with good hands and Brad smith in the slot and David Nelson #4 and the recieving unit will be great.

OT- HUGE NEED in my opinion. We need a gut we can trust for 16 games to get the job done I dont thinkwe have that right now.

OG- Minor need- need atleast one more solid depth gaurd.

OC- May be a major need with wood experience his second season ending injury.

KR/PR- Major need we seem to be the only team I see that can do nothing with the kick offs and the punt returns arent that impressive either.

DL- Minor neeed- I dont think the line is having as much issue as the defensive scheme and blitzing and playcalling do Fire Edwards huge improvement will be seen.

LB- MAJOR NEED- atleast 2 solid LBS are needed to fill out the LB rotation.

CB- MAJOR NEED Mcelvin is just not cutting it and if florence isnt catching the ball hes giving huge yars or pass interferecne calls and MCGEE is done. Though a nice pass rush could help this unit as well.

Safteys- minor need I like our starters but no depth

So I addressed my thoughts on positions now I will put in order of need and how to procure them.

    OT- Best available Free agent

    LB- top 10 free agent

    LB- Draft 1 round

    CB- Free agency

    CB- Draft 2 round

WR- best inxepensive free agent available

    OG- Draft 3 Round

WR/S/OL/DL- in order of best available round 4-7

Best coaching move is to FIRE GEORGE EDWARDS do I promote Dave dunno how much his hands are in on the defense so i wouldnt be able to make an educated decision but if i was to guess I would say since the defense looks as abysmal as last season that it is all Edwards and none of Dave so I would promote Dave to the DC/Assistant Head Coach. IF some one is educated me enough to say Dave had his hands in the mix i would Hire a solid DC who has expereince of running a top 10 defense.

So in conclusion thats 3 free agents and 8 draft picks which sticks with the theme of growing and resigning your own but also improving key areas quickly thru FA while the draft picks are being groomed and Firing the DC and Hiring or promoting a new one.

  16. I for one will not admit this season was disappointing. Is it ashame after a 5-3 start the wont make the playoffs, Absolutley. I expected an 8-8 season this season anything less than that will be slightly disappointing. However what I hoped to happen has been happening. The team has learned how to win, how to comeback from behind and did get a win against the Patriots.

But after watching their 5 wins we only beat two teams clearly Washington and KC, We were down by atleast 21 points against Oakland and the Patriots and alomost gave up the game against the Eagles. There were three losses that if the defense was any good or should i say the defense coordinator was any good we should have beat the Giants/Bengals and even the most recent game of the jets I put the balme on the defense youve got to stop teams at ctritical times and the 4th qtr with 5 mins or less left and your team is up is a critical time. The only bad streak we had was the three game thrashing by Dallas/Jets/Miami But there is a huge part me that doesnt believe that teams figured out our offense as the experts say but I truly believe Fitz was playing hurt after that huge hit he took in washington. The stats are usually the indicator when a QB is injured he throws more ints and during that three game run he was 2tds vs 7 ints and He palyed alot better this past weekend with 3 tds and 0 ints. I think he is finally healthy enough to play effectively then he was. Over all this team is learning how to win and learning how to comeback. Now if you ask me next year if the finish lower then 10-6 taht will be disappointin I believe they are moving in the right direction and as a fan of our team we shouldnt have expected playoffs this season but progress in all aspect of the team. They with the exception of our three game thrashing they have been just as much fun to watch as frustrating and its usually the defense that has been very frustrating to watch.

There is the possibility that we could win out and still be 10-6 witht he exception of the patriots none of the reaming teams are going to be that difficult to match up with on offense and we should be better against miami in Buffalo.

So the short of it is no I am not disappointed with the season. But I still get mad when the lose as I do every season. But we have something to grow from this season,

I originally said 4 wins at minimum and 7 at most so I am about right on at this point so I am not dissapointed. We need better plaers and a new def coordinator.

Definately a NEW Defensive coordinator. I think if he used any scheme or had any incling on how to stop a team when they are driving to win not so much the palyers as I believe the most rides on the defensive scheming and play calling. However I like when we get better players.

exactly year two of a three year build, some pieces sliding into place. More to go but it's not like we are just terrible. Why can't we simply understand it's lack of depth- I don't understand why that is so hard to understand.

Exactly plus the team is learning to win and they have won just need them to develope the expect to win mnetality over the hope to win mentality and I have seen progress there too. However the I do have to edit a previous statment of mine it will be a disappointing season if George edwards is not fired the Morning after the fianl game of the season 27 games still no progress and cost us too many games this season.

  17. Hear me out. Stevie Johnson wants to be extended and be paid like a number 1 receiver right? Well i think the prerequisite for making number 1 money is playing like that. I remember hearing Fitz say that he thought Stevie Johnson was one of the best receivers that he has ever seen getting off the line when the defense press covers. Yet in the last 2 games he has been jammed at the line almost all game. I got news for everyone on here and all the people that think we have arrived. Think again. Charlie casserly just did a piece on this. The bills are a timing based offense. We throw quick hitch routes and timing slants. That is how our offense operates. Take that away and this offense is sunk. We do not have the physical receivers to fight through being jammed at the line anywhere on this roster. Stevie Johnson wants 9 or 10 million dollars a year?!?! WTF!?!? The persona that this latest edition of Buffalo Bills is developing is that of a creampuff which is soft and susceptible to a physical team. I am through with the speed guys and the " high motor" guys. Until we get big tough strong physical receivers and overall players for that matter. This is what we will see from here on ot getting overmatched physically on offense and defense. Stevie wants number 1 money he should be a number 1 receiver period. In a contract year he is disappearing and playing mediocre football. Flame away

Hopefully this is formatted right for the OP.

I dont know how you got it that way but thats how it looked before it was posted.

My main point to all of this is the stats are of a season of 2 29 year old qbs. Yes one is the Holy one Jim Kelly. The point of comparison for me is that Jim Kelly had some stinker games as well. His completion percentage wasnt always that great and he averages more than 1 int per game. Im not defending the ints from Fitzpatrick but this guy has been palying well and you cant expect perfection from him.

Hes done a great job with guys that wouldnt start on most teams in the NFL. I felt before this season started that this team was going to improve this season and they have. I didnt think and still dont think they are a playoff team this season. I would love for them to prove me wrong but I did believe and do believe everything they are learning to do this year the confidence in themselves they are building and hopefully some much needed holes getting filled next season that will will be a force to wreakon with. In the mean time I believe Fitz his earning his money and doing a great job with this team and I will sit back and enjoy a season for once instead of playing offseason at the midway point. Besides the jets there are no other defenses that should stifle this offense going forward they will compete and do well against Dallas/Miami x2/ Denver/Tennese and San Diego I see of those 4-2 with the only question marks are the Jets/Pats if they go 0-2 then they are 9-7 and much improved over the previos season and ending with a winning record. if they could go 1-1 then they are 10-6 with a possible spot in the playoffs but even still this team is in position to grow this season. They need to learn how to bounce back from bad losses and string wins together.

Either way longwinded sorry Im proud of the efforts this season and that especially from a QB I never wanted signed in the first place. He has won me over and I think its the right decision going forward. If we can just get the rest of the pieces together we can start expecting to win instead of hoping to win. That is what this fan base misses the most of the Jim Kelly day is they expected the team to win no matter how many ints Jimbo threw or thurman thomas fumbled we always felt we could still win the game.I feel we are almost on the brink of that.

  20. If you like first place scenerios then I would prefer this one have the Jets beat the Pats then the Bills beat the Cowboys and then the Bills beat the Jets and Miami in consecutive weeks giving them a better division record and Head to Head against the Pats and the Jets fall a two games behind based on division record yhats the better scenario more losses for the pats the better.

  21. So see by many posts today that we are fair weather fans that hate to lose even if we have clearly been exceeding the expectations this season. Clearly we would like to be 6-0 or 5-1 but this is a team that one doesnt have a great defense. The defense has been luck at the most opprotunistic times. But the offense has looked even better considering that ther are so many nonamed players that are clearly doing well this season. I find it hard to comprehend that fans still bekieve that the team and every player on it needs to be perfect every single play of every single down of every single quarter of every single game and it doesnt work that way. I have been very happy with the way the Offense has moved the ball. I think they do need improvement on third downs but they have been outstanding in the red zone.'

The defense is my major concern they are the ones that are costing us the games as much as they are responsible for winning us games. You can only expect an offense to put up so many points we are second in the league for the points for. Considering teams past this team is in the game until the final two minutes of every game the play. My expectation going into the seaosn was a 7-9 team improved over last year but ready for a serious run next year. What makes them exceed my expectations this year is that guys are going down and guys are stepping up they teanm is playing like a team and learning how to win. Learning how to bounce back from a loss learning how to comeback in a game and they have learned how to win the against the Pats. However we are not there yet and to expect more i think is foolish.

So long as they are fighting to win every week and learning how to win and learning how to expect to win. That makes me happy. This team has been one of the best teams to watch in years even of the defense can be painful to watch at times the offense has just been fun. If they can squeak into the playoffs that would be awesome. But I am very happy with how this team is playing as a team. Happy with how gailey is coaching them. Happy with how Fitz has complete comand of his offense considering hes a guy I never wanted I believe this guy can take us there unlike others on this board. I will continue to watch with hope that they win and the enjoyment of the game. I believe a strong draft and free agents signing an we will be the team to beat next season.

  22. None would probably believe me I couldnt even believe it my self but I had the opprotunity to talk to a gentelmen who called himself Marcus Easelys Grandfather. Though I can not recall the technical name he gave me he did give me a lot of inside information regarding easley his condition and team perspective that I felt that he may indeed be who he said he was. It was some type of irregular heart beat but he said it wasnt anything that should have put him on the IR he would have only been out a few weeks at mininum they were surprised by the move but it was exlained to them that the team was in such dire straights with thier roster and have such High Hopes for easley they wanted to make sure he is 100% healthy and hope he will be that next season. Easley and his family were very disappointed especially after the trade of Evans they felt he was really going to be able to show them what he is capable of even after missing last season. Again I understand anyones skeptism of my conversation with the man called his grandfather but if he indeed was him he stated matter of factly that he is fine and will be playing for the Bills come the opening of camp.

  23. Only 1 team in the playoffs blew us out twice and that was the Jets.

Green Bay blew us out too but we cannot compare the team that lost to them to where we are now becuase Trent started that game.

Besides needing to bring up our play against the Jets and the Pats we need to build a defense. Good news we had Dave W. to help out with that side of the ball. All we have to do now is get the players to stop the run and get the turnovers. Im am tired of all the qb talk with our first rd pick we need an impact player with our pick.

I will admit I didnt even want Ryan Fitzpatrick signed in the first place I thought he was nothing more then a 3rd stringer at best. But his play this season has one me over completely. Does he turn the ball over sure b ut what QB doesnt especially considering the line he has dealt with. But besides being one of the better stats guy on the last decade he has shown me what i have been waiting to see since Flutie was here a QB who can raise the level of play of his teammates around him. Thats a sign of leadership. His ability to play threw some tough hits. Thats a sign of his toughness. The ability to come back and march the team down the field after trowing a pick or being down by 21 points and playing hard to the last play of the game. Thats a sign of his mental toughness and competiveness. Is he perfect not to most of the fans standards but I like everything he brings to the table and I would like to see what hes capable of starting the season from day 1 of camp and a second year under Gailey.

Do we need a qb yes but our luck in drafting QBS wed be wasting 40mil on a guy whos probably never going to be an nfl qb. Lets draft one in the second round and groom him there and get an impact player with the first rd pick.

I dont believe we are far off. From being competitive. Provided there is no lock out this season I believe we will see a very satisfying year. SB champs unlikely, playoffs could be likely.

Just more of a rant then anything.

  24. I'm thinking 5-11 or 6-10 again. I think we'll be an improved team but that will be offset by what appears to be a more difficult schedule.

more difficult lets evaluate that comment:

    Sept. 12 Miami 1:00 s/b win

    Sept. 19 @ Green Bay 1:00 s/b loss

    Sept. 26 @ New England 1:00 s/b loss

Oct. 3 NY Jets 1:00 on the fence-

    Oct. 10 Jacksonville 1:00 s/b win

    Oct. 17 Bye

    Oct. 24 @ Baltimore 1:00 s/b loss

    Oct. 31 @ Kansas City 1:00 s/b win

Nov. 7 Chicago* 1:00 first non divisio game in nuetral terrotory and first win in Canada

    Nov. 14 Detroit 1:00 s/b win

Nov. 21 @ Cincinnati 1:00 on the fence-

Nov. 28 Pittsburgh 1:00 on the fence

    Dec. 5 @ Minnesota 1:00 s/b loss

    Dec. 12 Cleveland 1:00 s/b win

    Dec. 19 @ Miami 1:00 s/b loss

Dec. 26 New England 1:00 losing streak ends s/b win

Jan. 2 @ NY Jets 1:00 on the fence

    *-In Toronto

    I see 6 wins definately

I see 1 win against NE in Dec ending our losing streak as we wil be much improved the second time around

    I see 5 losses definately

I see 4 games on the fence that could go either way

    so i can see a 8-8 to a 9-7 season

It all depends on the defense improvement and the WR progression. We will have one of the best running games in the league which could help us going into the fourth qtr a major problem we had last season.

I do not foresee us being worse then we were last season. We could be really good if we could improve on the 3rd down conversions.
