The last time the Bills were a powerhouse was when we had the oldest coach we could find. Marv was cool. Let's hire Joe Paterno--lolol

Might as well face the facts. We have issues. The only way to change/fix this team is by starting over from scratch. We need a new GM and coaching staff. We need these guys to be as tough as Parcells is. Hell, I would be happy to have some of his assistants. Anybody notice the jobs Weis and Bellichek are doing? The GM and coach would have to strip the team down to almost nothing a la an expansion team. Face it not many free agents are going to be thrilled playing here under the current regime and conditions for any amount of money. My point is we are going to be in for a long ,painful period-like seasons- before we even become close to a playoff team. That's my take.

Just a question will MM last through the next season if he has the dismal record as this year? Can't understand why the Bills in succession have hired head coaches without any head coaching experience. I would like to see the Bills hire a college head coach from a quality college program. Would anyone object to having someone like Wisconsin's Barry Alvarez take over the coaching position. His offensive blocking schemes are the same as the Denver Broncos. He understands how football should be played in the frigid northeast. Your thoughts?

I have been reading from various pollsters here that our o-line sucks. I agree, but many are suggesting we need a bigger line. I can guarantee that our o-line is one of the heaviest in the league. When we had our Super Bowl runs we did not have the biggest line in the league. Howard Ballard was the biggest. We had linemen with good technique. It all starts with the center position. Kent Hull was the glue of the line. It is no accident that when he retired our offense began to suffer. Our line is so big that they should be able to collectively fall forward and the rb should be able to gain positive yardage. I would like to see Preston at center. We drafted him as a center, why not use him there. The season is a wash. The best o-line year in and year out belongs to the Denver Broncos. They have the smallest line in the league yet they always have 1000 yard rushers. Yes, they chop block but it is legal. Why can't we get some of our former linemen like Hull or Richter to come in and help out? Could it hurt to ask? The game is won in the trenches. It is not complicated. It is not rocket surgery. Get young o-linemen from the draft and teach good technique. I have always liked the Boston College o-linemen. Every year the school has their linemen drafted and they do well. Just ask the Pats. I am tired of us drafting the biggest behemoth or a someone with versatilitiy. We need linemen who are intelligent and coachable. Your thoughts?

CBS says T.O. is not suspended but is listed as inactive. Hominahominahomiana?!!!
-
I just heard the same thing. What a clusterphuk in Philly? He is listed as inactive.
-
My take on T.O. is very simple. If you look up schmuck in the dictionary, you will find his photo. I am an old time Bills fan. According to reports T.O. got into a "fight " with Hugh Douglas-who is retired. T.O then challenged McNabb? Can you picture T.O. picking a fight with a retired Bill such as Smerlas or Joe D? Can you picture T.O. and Kelly in a fight? Who would win?

I stated it a while back. Football is not complicated. You must run the ball 30 plus times a game to open up the passing game. KH threw about 7 passes per quarter, but none of his handoffs to WM were intercepted. WM is the man, give him the rock until he has to crawl for yardage. We have one of the biggest o-lines in the game. The linemen should be able to fall forward and WM should gain positive yardage. Hopefully the coaching staff will finally realize/accept/comprehend that we are a smash mouth running football team.

I have been reading various article regarding LaVarr Arrington. He is healthy and not playing for GW's defense in Washington. Would you take a chance on him? Our lbs aren't getting any younger. How old is Fletcher? How about a lb corp of Arrington, Spikes, Posey, and Fletcher? Not a bad rotation. Hell Arrington is big enough to be a pass rushing DE. I personally prefer the 3-4 defense. I would take a chance on him for anything but a first round pick. Your thoughts?

I am bored and griping about the Bills is getting old. I watched the Pats-Falcons game last week. How smart are the Chargers looking now by not drafting Vick? I think Vick needs to produce very quicikly. Matt Schaub is a much better qb than Vick can over hope to be. The Pats would have had an easier time defending against Vick than they did against Schaub. Vick is nothing more than over glorified rb. Don't be surprised if Vick is gone from the Falcons sooner rather than later. Who would you draft now LT or Vick?
-
I watched the this kid against the Pats and he is good. He is a much better passer than Vick will ever hope to be. Wonder if he will be available at the end of the season? I would let this kid play until Vick is 100%. Imagine Vick at wr. He may be the fastset player in the league.

Just curious--who would you draft now? Would Moulds have the success Marvin has enjoyed in Indy?

Hello!!! Why do you think Holcomb signed with the Bills? He signed because we have a raw, first year starter at qb. Be glad we signed Holcomb. He has experience and has started in the league. Remember when he torched the vaunted Steeler's Defense? Didn't he play with a severe leg injury--I believe his leg was broken. Name another quality back up qb that can handle this situation and play well? The choices are far and few between. Thank goodness we have not attempted a trade for Ramsey or Boller with JP struggling. What is the worst thing that can happen with Holcomb starting? A qb controversy? Highly doubtful since JP has done nothing to prove himself. It is still too early to tell if JP is the man or not, but maybe some more learning from the sidelines would not hurt. John Elway was benched early in his career for Steve DeBerg. I am willing to bet Holcomb will be the starter until our bye week. JP will start that week--lol.

lololol--Blue Chipper spelled grammar wrong.

I have not been in upstate NY in over 15 years. Grew up in Pittsford and frequented Thirsty's. That place still there? I miss wings the most. Can't get good wings in Maine.

I am a 30 plus years Bills fan. I have been transplanted in Maine for many years. Football is not complicated. I have been reading other comments from various members on this site. We were built by "Donoshmoe" to be a smash mouth football team. We have essentially a rookie qb. His job should be to hand the ball off to a rb at least 35-40 times a game. That averages out to be about 8-10 hand offs per quarter. Last time I checked JP had zero incomplete handoffs. Look at the Steelers. Ben hands the ball off more than any other qb in the league. By running the ball and controlling the line of scrimmage you open the passing game. Ben is not asked to stand in the pocket and throw the ball 65 plus yards. He throws short and over the middle. The wr's job is to just catch the ball and try to break open a long run after the catch. Remember the Jim Kelly to Ander Reed connection? How many short passes and slants over the middle did he break for long gains and touchdowns. Eric Moulds can do this. Lee Evans can do this plus he is a burner to break one open for a touchdown at any time. Willis is a beast. He should be receiving handoffs at least 30 plus times per game. Our o-line is one of the biggest in the league. Any rb we have should gain positive yardage if the o-line just fell over. Look at the successful coaches in the league past and present. From Vince Lombardi to Parcells to Belichek---they have always been a smashmouth running team with a good defense. Elway didn't win the big one until Terrel Davis was running the ball. Troy Aikmann didn't do diddly until Emmitt Smith was drafted. Rememeber Joes Gibbs and his Super Bowl team. The o-line had the Hogs and a "little" rb named John Riggins. The thing that astonishes me the most is that the head coach had Jerome Bettis with the Steelers. Willis is not much smaller and is faster. Mularkey needs to stop trying to win with the "sexy" plays. If MM tried this garbage in Pittsburgh Cowher would have B word slapped him. The Chargers pounded the Pats this past week. How did they do it? They ran the ball down their throats. The Chargers stayed with the run. I am sure I will be blown off, run, or flamed. Until we actually start running the ball more than occassionally, we will not be a playoff caliber team. You can change coaches, schemes, the color of the uniforms, or any other stupid gimmick. We were built to do one thing. Line up and run block. This ain't rocket surgery. I am getting too old to keep saying wait until next year. I figured if the Red Sox could win it all, maybe the stars would be lined up for the Bills.
-
Would love to see this bruiser in a Bills uniform. If Willis had to look over his shoulder and worry about his job, he would be even better than he is now.

I am a long-time Bills supporter. Been following the Bills for more than 30 years. My old joke was there is only one thing worse than being a Red Sox fan, it's being a Bills fan. I said this before and will say it again. Football is not a complicated game. Control the line of scrimmage by running the ball and with a good defense, you win games. The running game opens up the passing game. If anyone thought JP was going to pass the ball well and throw for an abundance of yardage--you're high. John Elway, Troy Aikman, and many other first year starting qb's have struggled mightily. JP has been trying to learn the system. Last season he was learning the system as it was being spoon-fed by Wyche. Now this season JP is trying to utilize the system. The speed of the game is astonishing at this level. JP needs at least another season to adjust from the college game. If and that is a big if, he can learn to just react and not think, then he will be successful. Here is an example, Carson Palmer did nothing great his first two seasons. Look at him now. It took Eli Manning last season just to acclimate to the NFL game. Our coaching staff needs to stop trying to be cute. This team was built around the running game. We may have the biggest o-line in the game today. We drafted a bull for an rb. Here's a thought run the ball 40 times a game. Running backs are drafted to run the ball. You use the rb until he can no longer do the job effectively. Isn't the average career of an rb about 6 or 7 years? Rb's are a dime a dozen. That's why so many of them get drafted every season. The blocking makes it all happen. Our o-line is so big they should be able to fall forward and the rb should be able to gain positive yardage. The rb needs to not fumble. Look at Parcells, he uses his rb's until they damn near drop dead. Remember Otis Anderson running that ball down our throats? If Jeff Hostetler and Trent Dilfer can win the ring, so can the Bills. Running the ball and playing a ball control offense may not be the "sexy" way to win games but it works. Our defense is plenty good enough. They are on the field most of the game. The Patriots have done this and won 3 Super Bowls. This is not complicated. Ask Jim Kelly what made the K-gun effective--running the ball or throwing it. Until the coaching staff implements this we will never be a playoff contender. I am sure I will be blown off but there is the ugly truth.

How do the Lions get blown away by the Bears? QB Harrington throws for 5 ints and gets pulled for the rookie out of UConn Orlovsky!! Damn.

Make a bet that Nate Clements has a career game versus Randy Moss. He is demanding top dollar--do you think he will shine or choke?

Nate Clements is demanding big time money after the season, he will be at his best versus Randy Moss. -
Yes Pat Williams will be missed, but the Vikes have been spanked for two consecutive weeks. The Bengals smoked the Vikes by something like 37-8. In the first half the Bengals did not have to punt once!! The Vikes gave up 24 to the Bucs last week.

You are missing the point/points. We haver never been known as having a qb tradition. My point being with JP, he is nowhere near Kelly much less Fergie. He is in a learning curve. Hey smart guy name 5 Bills qb's that could/would have had any success with any team in the NFL--exclude Kelly and Fergie. Our qb history is brutal. Let's review some of them in no particular order: -Rob Johnson-sucked -Doug Flutie-got screwed -Tod Collins-sucked -Shmuck Hobert-sucked -Vince Ferragamo-sucked -James Harris-sucked -Bruce Mathison-sucked -Alex Van Pelt-entertaing at best -Drew Bledsoe-please -Gary Marangi-sucked -Darryl Lamonica-traded for Flores of the Raiders-sorry ass trade -Mark Kofler-sucked -Will Totten-sucked Perhaps you see a pattern? -

I never stated Fergie and Kelly were on the same level. That's like comparing OJ to Thermal. JP has a ways to go before he can be compared to either. Let's face it-we are not known for having a history of quality qb's in our team's history. Kemp is before my time, but he did win an AFL championship. Fergie was a tough S.O.B. and played the game with pride. Kelly was the best we have had, but with 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses, we were the first team to finish last for 4 consecutive years. -
Everyone needs to relax and have a beer. Yes, we got smoked today. What have we learned? JP has a long way to go before we forget about Jim Kelly or Joe Fergie. Our o-line is not exactly the Eloectric Company or anywhere near the ability of Super Bowl run o-lines. Willis is not the second coming of Thermal or even Joe Cribbs. He is young and finally healthy after a gruesome injury. That being said, the Pats got soundly beaten in every phase today. The Pats still have to face the most brutal schedule over the next few weeks. The Pats still have to play Pittsburgh, San Diego, Atlanta, and Denver. The Fish have NY Jets, Carolina, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, and KC. The Jets have Miami, Jags, Ravens, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, and Atlanta. Our schedule is as follows-Atlanta, Saints, Fish, Jets, and Raiders. The Pats didn't look like champs today. I like our schedule til the bye. The only team to worry about is the Falcons. We should win the next 4 going into New England before the bye. We should not be any worse than 5-3 going into the bye assuming we lose to the Falcons and Pats. JP will get more experienced and Willis will get better. The defense can only do so much when they are on the field for the majority of the game today. Everyone needs to remember that this is a learning season for JP. After the bye is could get ugly. We have KC, San Diego, Carolina, Fish, Pats, Denver, Bengals-who smoked the Vikes today, and the Jets. Hard to say how will do after the bye. I figure we go .500 during this span. This I believe will get us to 9-7. That would make for a successful season. This is not an easy schedule I read somewhere this is the 5th toughest schedule in the league, but we are capable of a 9-7 season. Things will get better starting next year. I am in my 40's and have been a longtime suffering fan, but give the trio of JP, Willis,Evans, and our defense a chance--we will be a force to be reckoned with. I am not throwing in the towel yet, just stating facts. Transplanted in Maine and am in need of a serious wing fix. Anyway, the schedules are brutal for our entire division, but I like our chances. Your thoughts?
