  1. I would rather us dump Teague's salary and move Williams to LT and restructure if he works out there. I'm not sure if I'd put Tucker at C or a draft pick because of how important the o-line will be to JP's success. I think we've got to go the free-agent route with both and draft depth or future starters if at all. With needs at TE and CB we can fill them through the draft while expecting them to produce from day one. Hard to expect that with 2nd round O-lineman.
  2. I know we've got more pressing needs (TE, CB, either RT or LT, and DT) but I think if we're going to re-sign Clements next year and fill the above holes in our roster his cap number holds us back. If we can release him and upgrade the postion while giving us more money to sign a LG then why not? Here's a list of RFA/UFA that I'm a bit curious about and am wondering if anyone has an opinion on their level of play. Centers - Melvin Fowler (6-3 305 CLE) : 25yrs old and seems that either he or Faine is the odd man out on their O-line. Folwer can play both G and C but I prefer Fowler because he has a mean streak. He's a RFA and was tendered as a 3rd rounder. Jeff Faine (6-3 300 CLE) : 23yrs old and I've read they want to move him. Not a free-agent unfortunately. Guards - Cosey Coleman : RG and we need a LG. Marco Rivera : Same as Coleman plus he's a bit on the old side. Ben Hamilton (6-4 285) : 27yrs old and an UFA LG who the Broncos see as the replacement for C Tom Nalen. I like this guy a lot but he could be a bit pricey. Roberto Garza (6-2 303) : 26yrs old and plays C as well. I don't know a lot about this guy but wish someone on this board did. Keydrick Vincent (6-5 330) : 27yrs old and plays RG not LG but people on the wall believe he can play the position. Who am I too argue that since I haven't really seen a lot of him. ================================================================================ So why not sign Hamilton to play C and then sign Vincent after releasing Teague?
  3. You make a good point about the avoiding the rush to overpay. I also agree with you on Ron Edwards as he could just be one rung down the ladder from Pat next year. He really has come on under Krumrie but won't have a big enough year to command big bucks. If he's solid this year then he's the guy we sign long-term, not a 33yr old DT. I still think we're alos waiting to either complete the Shelton trade or rule it out before spending our money because we've got to grab a LT or a RT if we are indeed moving Mike to the left side.
  4. To me that is the most likely explanation regardless of whether or not it is Shelton we are trading for. It just seems to me that we're not spending any money on anything until we've got a LT because if we have to draft one then Losman's going to be doing a lot of running. With each 10-12 million dollar signing bonus given to each average LT the more comfortable I am with sending an extra pick to AZ with Henry. 3 mil per until 2008 is a steal even if it costs us a 4th rounder. I would even go as high as a 3rd if it was a 2006 pick vs a 4th in 2005.
  5. Jesus Christ they overpaid for those guys. I love Pat but my god...... I think we blew it on not trading a pick for DT Gerald Warren though. I can't even begin to imagine our D with an inspired Warren playing in games that mean something.
  6. I disagree. He was thrown into the fire and will be a good, not great, NFL C.
  7. Seth McKinney would only cost us a 3rd round pick if Miami did not match our offer. I think he'd be an upgrade over Teague. If we signed him I'd release Teague for the cap savings. If we're going to convert a LT why not Mike Williams and just sign a RT with the money we save? We could have enough left over re-sign Price who is invaluable. If not maybe we could throw that money to LG Mike Wahle?
  8. I have to say I have no clue what TD is working on.
  9. Isn't he more of a RT and doesn't he also want a ton fo money??
  10. I was really hoping could bring C Dominc Raiola onboard but he just re-signed with Detroit. Losses - LT Jonas Jennings DT Pat Williams RB Travis Henry (Trade to AZ for LT LJ Shelton) K Rian Lindell (Released) Free agents/Additions - LG Mike Wahle (GB) DT Gerald Warren (CLE) TE Freddie Jones (AZ) LT LJ Shelton (Trade from AZ) QB Shane Matthews (Re-signed) I know what people are going to say about Warren but I think he needs to play for a winner and he'll be the DT he was in his first year. I think we he'd make the inevitable loss of Williams easier to deal with. The guy I truly covet is LG Mike Wahle because he gives us the option to move Shelton inside to LG and Wahle to LT if Shelton can't play LT (My feeling is he can). I know the knock on Jones is that he doesn't block but he can and will if he wants to be on the field for the Bills. With both Campbell and Ehus looking like they're out for the season we need him and a TE via the draft with Peters and Neufeld on the roster. I'm happy with bringing back Matthews because of the confidence I have in both JP and the coaching staff. Even if JP gets hurt this offense has an O-line that survive for a short stretch with McGahee and a solid no.2 RB pounding the rock 30 times a game. Draft 02....CB Eric Green (VTU) | 6-0 198 03....TE Kevin Everett (MIA) | 6-6 251 03....K Mike Nugent (OSU) | 5-10 180* 05....RB Cedric Houston (TEN) | 5-10 225 06....C Richie Incognito (NEB) | 6-3 305 07....DE Tyler King (CON) | 6-5 267 * : Trade for an additional 3rd round pick to grab K Mike Nugent (This year's 4th and next year's 2nd rounder) For me the best news of the draft so far is that Incognito sprained his knee at the combine. I have a feeling he's going to be a steal. Cedric Houston is a solid no.2 RB and I think both Green and Everett could special players in the NFL. I also think that Tyler has a future at DT and is a specimen.
  11. 1. Kevin Burnett LB, Tennessee : If this guy falls I take him. He's a talent at LB that was converted from S. He's a scary prospect who has had a pretty rapid learning curve at Tennessee with great size and 4.6 speed. 2. Josh Bullocks* FS, Nebraska : I just love this guy but if drafted he should start because he's that good. Had 10 interceptions as a Sophmore. 3. Eric Green* CB, Virginia Tech : I really like this guy and I'd grab him if both Henry and McFadden are gone. He could start from day one and give us perhaps the best CB tandem in our conference. 6-0 with 4.43 speed. 4. Chris Henry* WR, West Virginia : A 6-4 200 but I haven't scene is 40 time. If its below 4.5 you could make me happy with this pick. The only thing that I worry about is he is a bit thin but he's been durable. 5. Ernest Shazor* SS, Michigan : I like this kid alot but haven't seen his 40 time from the combine. Great size though (6-3 225). If he had a strong (4.45-4.50) I think he would be a strong pick Henry was off the board. 6. Barrett Ruud MLB, Nebraska : I would strongly consider him as he could allow us to part ways with London Fletcher and could be an upgrade as Fletch at some point must begin aging. I'd have to his 40 time from the combine though. 7. David Baas C/G, Michigan : I like him but I believe with a first year starter at QB we must fix the OL through FA and not the draft because it's that important. 8. Fred Gibson WR, Georgia : 6-4 195 WR who I believe ran a 4.5. He's a soft player and was inconsistent in college. Not a fan. 9. Bill Swancutt DE, Oregon State : Has the size but not the speed to be a RDE which is what we need. Pass. 10. Roscoe Parrish* WR, Miami : I'm not a fan of smurf-Santana-Moss-type WRs. 11. Jason Campbell QB, Auburn : For some reason I think this guy is going to a great QB but not for the Bills. 12. Mike Patterson DT, USC : I pass on DT that are under 6-3 and this guy is 5-11. I know all the Warren Sapp arguments but....
  12. I think if the cap hit is 950K we should definitely trade for him unless it costs us a day one pick in 2005. If he renegotiates I'd give them a 2nd round pick in 2006 and if not I'd give them a 5th in 2006. A change of scenery on a winning team is what this guy most likely needs.
  13. He's no slower than Travis Henry I'd suspect. My prediction is that he'll go to Pittsburgh in the 3rd round.
  14. If anything he showed up with too much muscle. Every report I've read and every tape I've seen his body looks chiseled. Unless he was allowed to play football for the past two years and then trained for the combine you can't say that "he had time to prepare". Character does count and the fact that this kid came in humble and in great physical shape says alot. The 40 times mean less than nothing because he's been out of football for over two years. He's a no.1 RB who would be a steal in 3rd or 4th round.
  15. The guys has not been in training for the two years he's been out of football and isn't on the same level as the other players at the combine because of that. This guy isn't coming off an injury, he's coming of a period of inactivity and once he's back in football he'll be the back he was in college and he was second only to McGahee when he was in college. While the safer pick would be a guy like Cedric Houston of Tennessee (Who is a comparable RB) I'd be happy to draft this kid in the 3rd round but I'd be ECSTATIC to grab him in the 4th. Does anyone know what the Shelton kid ran (The RB from Louisville)?
  16. I just read that my Atlanta Hawks are looking at him in the draft as PG. Does anyone hear follow Cuse BB enough to weigh in on whether he can play the point? Does he have a consistent outside shot?
  17. They don't have the cap room to match an offer much over 2 mil a year.
  18. There's where we disagree. I don't think GB can match a credible offer.
  19. I believe you are right but looking at GB's cap number I don't see how they could match anything above the 2 mil transition number.
  20. Matthews is a serviceable back up who knows the offense. My guess is he'll be back and we'll draft a 3rd QB.
