1. Hey Glenn, clicked on Jimmy's site and saw the pictures from the Ravens game...was that the trip were it was something like $250 for tix and tailgate?

Looks like they had a good time, despite the weather and the Bills' performance.

    336601

    It appears to be:

40 Bill's Fans from Jimmy's attended the Bills-Ravens game and were given true, Baltimore style VIP service. What happens in Baltimore, stays in Baltimore. However, enjoy the photos!

I can not afford VIP treatment and was flying out that day to California anyways so I could not go. I know I had a good time last time I went to away game with Jimmy.

  2. Grevey's is nearby which is dedicated to Bills games on Sunday.

    334572

Grevey's is OK IF you have a group and a reservation for sometimes Grevey's is standing room only and often tables sit for an hour while waiting for reserved people to show up.

I prefer Jimmy's Old Town Tavern myself.

Is it easy to get in/and out of DC?

    Like through public transportation?

Do they have a lot of trains there? buses?

If the commute is so bad, why wouldnt people just take public transit?

    Or is it not available?

    336515

It is easy IF you live near by a metro station and your location is near a metro station. If you do not if is often a hassle to park if you do not get there early, plus cost of parking, plus sometimes trains are full when you want to go. Buses work but that adds a lot more time to your travel time and heaven forbid if you need to work late and need to wait an hour for a bus. Oh and crosstown commuting does not work for it takes so long to go suburb to suburb.

The problem with metro in DC area is they try to have their cake and eat it too - rather than making it so affordable that it takes a lot of traffic off the streets they try to price it 'compatible' to driving yourself if you do not need to pay for expensive DC parking. And if it is 'compatible' and you are not going to give up having a car, why bother?

  3. I am considering buying a Toshiba or a refurbished IBM Thinkpad.

Both have good reputations for reliability and sturdiness.

I got an offer due to a rewards program my wife participates in which would allow me 15% off already reduced prices on IBM refurbished laptops.

I am looking for opinion on these deals - are they deals on good laptops?

  4. A reporter in MM's press conference said...

"Mike Williams looks "sleek" and "svelte" this spring."

    Keep it up #68...

    324922

Maybe he heard that I bought a #68 jersey this year; it is not a genuine one otherwise the words we would be hearing were "Mike has lost a lot of weight - fat AND muscle unfortunately" or "The equipment manager needs to be fired - that jersey is too tight!".

Blaming his performance because he has such a high salary cap figure as some have said is wrong. He is paid more because he was an early pick in the draft and all of the players taken in first half of the first round are overpaid; the NFL players union ought to be addressing THAT in next contract talks.

  5. Yes, it went into effect for this coming season.

And no, Sunday Ticket isn't available anywhere else and won't be until at least 2010 if I recall correctly.

That is, unless you go to your local sports bar.

It appears to be that Direct TV is trying to be like Cable TV and rip people off ....

No difference in their marketing with switch and bait .....

I'll stick with going to my local bar.

BIO: Three-year starter awarded All-Conference honors every season since his sophomore campaign. Finished with 72/3/10 as a senior, also averaging 12.7 yards on 35 punt returns. Posted career numbers of 99/11/25 as a sophomore.

POSITIVES: Opportunistic, ball-hawking defensive back with excellent cover skills. Intelligent defender who diagnoses the action, immediately locates the pass in the air, then displays outstanding ball skills. Quickly breaks on the throw, possesses a burst of closing speed and works well with cornerbacks. Efficient, takes good angles to the action and fires up the field in run support. Does an exceptional job staying with the action, remaining disciplined and reading the quarterback.s eyes. Gets vertical and adjusts in midair to make the interception or defend the throw. Good special teams player.

NEGATIVES: Beaten out by larger receivers. Has difficulty in man-to-man situations. Suffered from a stress fracture in his left foot and unable to perform in the postseason.

ANALYSIS: While lacking the true size/speed numbers for any single position in the defensive backfield, Leonhard's productivity and football awareness cannot be overlooked. Known for his work ethic, he is a consistent defender with top intangibles.

    PROJECTION: Mid Fourth Round

Nice article on him returning punts:

Tom Donahoe is looking for that special special teams player still

  7. So we basically have a London Fletcher mold with a serial killer mentality?  I'm diggin' this kid already...

    317520

London Fletcher mold with a serial killer mentality and majors in CRIMINAL JUSTICE and got homesick so he gave up a scholarship at a 1-A school because he was homesick.

    The boy is CONFUSED!

  8. No large pictures I could find :(

    Best picture I could find:

Seem to be a Willis type of runner who could go into same holes when in for relief as opposed to a change-of-pace back.

Player Bio (only lists career until 2003)

    http://uoflsports.collegesports.com/sports...s_lionel00.html

He does have some speed which is good for he will need to play on special teams.

Those who want to B word about Donahoe's picks will have plenty of ammo for he did not play as full time back due to decision by coaches to do RB by committee.

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2005/gates_lionel

Gates sacrificed personal success for that of the team during his career at Louisville. Has the ability to start for most college teams, but performed capably for the Cardinals while sharing time with Henry Miller, Eric Shelton and Michael Bush in his four seasons at the school. He is the cousin of former Clemson Tigers and Cleveland Browns linebacker Rahim Abdullah.

He played Spring football and I do not know if that is good for us or not; Anybody watch Spring Football?

  9. Picture of him:

    Vanderbilt page on him:

Pittsburgh type of guy - Fan of Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

Smart too: Member of National Honor Society and high honor roll with a 4.0 GPA.

  10. Yes and his dad is a qb coach.  Rob Johnsons dad has coached several quaterbacks Carson Palmer among them.

However Preston's dad can't coach his son how to be a linemen when his dad played linebacker. It's like a defensive end teaching someone how to play wr

    316291

No DE and WR are on opposite sides of the field.

His father being a pro will be able to tell his son, IF HE LISTENS, how to avoid many of the pitfalls of NFL - bad agents, missing camp, keeping focused during offseason, dealing with obnoxious and uninformed fans and sports writers who think they need more than professional NFL personel people. He also can help him teach him how to shed blocks which both DEs and LBs do.

    Bad analogy.

  11. Does his UNDESERVED reputation finally take a hit after he is stuck still holding Henry?

    315585

No. The key to poker is being able to not have people being able to call your bluff while at the same time not get caught chipping into a pot you have no business in. Denny Green knows he was not bluffing for he did not take the lesser deal and Travis Henry and his agent know that as well.

Donahoe plays it more like Chess than Poker (this is from someone who was once rated a Master in chess and beat a grandmaster once and made his living playing poker in college). He thinks on multiple levels, he does feignts where he threatens a piece to make opponent react, he is willing to sacrafise pawns (Hemry) and rooks (Bledsoe) to obtain a win and he does not try to go with one strategy but a bundle of them keep the strategy close to the vest.

He has weaknesses - he really does not know kickers, he can use UDFA better than he can 6th and 7th round picks, he makes decisions and then switching in mid stream giving his impression that his word is not his bond and sometimes it appears he fails to communicate his decisions to those who are already on his 'out' list but his draft 'bluffing' and judging is very, very good. His absolute worst decision was Gregg Williams and I think it was because GW was so prepared it made TD think he was like himself in that manner.

  12. that's awesome G.host. I sure wish I was running in California. It can get cold running at 6am on a cold Canadian morning.

    310261

Inside not outside on exercise bike. It can be warm inside even in Canada in winter.

    Way to go Glenn!!

    312107

Did 19 miles today; Pretty good for a guy on 6 hours a sleep, when I get it, due to a long work schedule! Next week I work until 6 AM so I do not think I will do as well.

Oh and my weight is down to 208 from 225 since I went on my diet in March. Now if the inches will come off!

  13. I have been doing 10-14 miles on exercise bike each morning while I am in California but it helps that I am working afternoon/evening shifts. All part of my "No I will not take liver damaging drugs to beat cholestral diet). Pretty good for someone who hasn't exercised in 30 years.

  14. Standing is vastly overrated as a requirment for a successful round of golf. Check your PM, here's a webcam that shows you part of the view from the golf course-

    Mt. Pinos

Temperture at 9:42 PM California time - 30 degrees!

That is very, very cold for someone whose "heavy" jacket for trip to California would not be suitable for a Buffalo fall!

If you want to see the location click on link below and zoom out until you see something you recognize:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?oi=map&q=16200...+Park,+CA+93222

  15. I'm blond.  Help a sis out here man.

    304563

Easier for people to drive on Saturday, stay overnight and drive home on Sunday WITHOUT taking off next day or needed to go to work tired.

The last Sunday night game was against Titans I believe and it was on a Sunday but Monday was a holiday.

  16. So let me get this right: you can't golf...you can't drink...you're on a  diet...

You sound like you need this more than anybody.

    303130

Of course Glenn- we can always use someone to drive ;-)

    303156

Who said anything about alcohol? My liver is putting out too much fatty stuff - maybe I do not drink enough and it is protesting! I am not on medicine yet so no reason to not drink unless you are serving Genesee!

And I did not say I CAN'T golf; I said golf is below my interest in shuffleboard. Boring, Boring, Boring. Almost as bad as baseball.

  17. If you're in Southern Cal and interested in attending a Stadium Wall Draft Party including WNY foods, a draft board managed by famed TSW racounteur Bob Lamb and Kiper-grade analysis of every pick by Kelly the F&B Dog, preceded by our inauguaral Golf Tourney, please give me a heads up so we can get you pointed in the right direction.

Not recommended for those with liver conditions.

    301452

I happen to be in Southern California right now and will be for rest of month.

Assuming I am not working is it ok for someone to come who thinks Golf is less exciting than Shuffleboard? Oh and my liver is not doing very good either - Cholestral, produced by the liver, is way too high so I am on a diet and if that does not fix it they will want to prescribe poison (medicine) to try to get it back in line.

  18. I 2nd this recommendation.  We routinely try other services and we find that snapfish gives the best prints.  They were just bought out by HP.

Display works well, if that is all you are going to do.

    301621

One caution with snapfish is they sometimes cut the photos. I just ordered a set of school pictures and I received no indication on screen that the photos would be cut. The school year which was near bottom-left corner was cut and when I look on line there is no indication that they will when you order picks. Customer service does not reply to e-mails either.
