1. I really wish that we could get Wahle in a Bills uniform, I just wonder how big a signing bonus/contract he is going to get offered? I have a feeling $10 million+ signing bonus, which would put him out of the running for the Bills.

    259387

at 2-3 mill per he can be had, if he moves to LT its a bigtime bargain but by no means is he overpaid at 2-3 as a G. Lock him up LONG term, and if he never sees his escalating contract because of poor play, so be it. This is the way to get your guys and save in the short term.

  2. Clump,

First, I just want to say thank you for all the hard work that you put into the salary cap page for the Bills.  I find it very useful.

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.  The last 2 columns of the cap table cannot be read on my browser (Netscape) because the table goes past the white background into the blue background.

Lastly, do you think it would help anyone if you could list how many years are still left on a players contract or something to that effect.  In your article you said that Moulds added an extra year to his contract to spread the amoritization of his new bonus over an extra year.  It would be interesting to know how many more years that players are under contract for.

Your article/breakdown of the Bills was a good read.  From your article I took out of it that even though we have cap room, we are still very close to the wall when it comes to salary.

Again, thanks for keeping us updated on the Bills cap.

My comment is a question mark on the validity of the numbers. Many different site have us several mill different than Clumps numbers. I admire his passion for figuring out "his" version of our cap situation. But without a look at the TRUE books, how in the hell can anyone claim to be accurate? Its a waste. Id have better luck trying to do Clumps tax return!!!

This is typical offseason BS. We always end up going through this. People here claim all kind of BS about how we dont have the cap cash to sign x,y, or Z. They do it because they want us to go the cheap route. Yet a guy like TD always makes the ignorant look foolish. Takeo, Fletcher, Milloy its sick how he gets it done. Trying to undermine him and what he can do is a waste of time. PERIOD.

It may be a fun waste of time, but its futile!

We can get the guys we need, have faith in TD, he gets it done and every year we end up saying, how in the hell did he do it?

  3. Where are you getting information about who is giving Wahle offers? A link would be much appreciated.

    ESPN Insider comment:

Mar. 2 - Wahle was released by the Packers on March 1, and it won't be long before the veteran left guard finds a new home. Wahle's agent, Neil Cornrich, has already been fielding offers, and according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Panthers, Rams, Giants and Chargers are among the teams interested.

Interesting that theres no mention of the Bills.

Didnt TD say that we werent good enough on the O side of the ball (rhetorical ?/ON)

  4. Since it appears we wont resign either of our main FA'sthen what the hell was the point of restructing Moulds and being 8 million under the cap? You cant tell me we are gonna give Clements an extension since TD wil low ball him and lose him as well.

My point is i dont understand why we even bothered to get 8 milllion under teh cap and then sit and watch other teams get better...

    259365

Agreed, but it aint over till the fat lady sings. This is day one, and even that aint over yet.

  5. Wahle apparently has fielded offers from teams. Giants, Rams, Chargers.

    Nothing from the Bills yet.

Ummm, do we have a starting LT? Isnt that the guy who protects our QB's blindside? Who is our new LT?

    Waiting

    Waiting

    Bueller?

  6. I wonder if there is a blockbuster move in the making.

The Bills said absolutely jack squat about any interest in McGahee prior to drafting him. The reason may have been that they felt another team would take him above them if they showed any interest. I wonder if this is the same. Lots of talk about this guy to this team, etc...Nothing on the number 1 TE out there, Franks. Is he in Buffalo already? getting a physical? Is there a monster trade in the works that, if announced, other teams will overbid for whoever? I wonder if its a big name LT.

Hmmmm, I sense that something is up and that we will be very impressed.

I have a few sleeper moves:

Signing a stud LB and switching to the 3, 4.

Signing a big name WR, and having a bigtime vertical game. That would also lessen the blow if Moulds's production starts to diminish.

Signing a big name CB when Clements is set to be out there next year.

And of course a big trade for a stud LT, something MUCH above the Shelton deal.

  7. No I am crazy, stupid, on drugs, etc..  You have said so yourself in the past, I have no idea about anything and obviously not a fan if I don't see that Jennings is the best LT in the league or Travis is a top 5 rb and best available running back ever.  :D

    258219

Dude, you certainly are full of attitude this morning.

Fine, we dont agree. Im still waiting to here you version of the "upgrade" to Jennings at our most important o-line position. If you want to criticize the opinions I have endlessly I consider that to be pretty fruitless.

I never said anything about you being any of the names you listed. I didnt agree that Shelton was a sure fire upgrade, thats all.

I hope you want what I want, a very good o-line. I dont know how that happens, maybe move Mike, maybe sign or draft a RT, maybe its just McNally booting underachievers into gear.

  8. Damn...

Well, clearly TD and MM and TM have a plan in place. But what the hell is it? I hate that we lost a stud who they found in the 3rd round. He should have had a 5 year deal. I for one think we might regret this one. It also shows our hand as far as draft strategy goes. Who will be there at 55? Khalif Barnes? Doubtful. Adam Terry? Maybe. But rookie LTs are never as good as you need them to be. NEVER.

Not Pace. Not Ogden. Certainly not Robert Gallery.

    257905

I wouldnt be so quick to say it wont be a top flight guy. We will just have to wait and see. TD called out his O, you dont do that and then downgrade at LT. That just doesnt make sense.

  9. So which is it.  I thought you said before that Jonas was the best LT available and we couldn't lose him.  Now that it appears that he is gone, he sucked and is injury prone.

Damn please make up your mind.  :D

    258215

I didnt say he sucked, I did want him back because he was the best available LT. But the Jets are gonna lose McKenzie, maybe to us :( , and then they are weak at the other end of the o-line. My point is that it wont hurt us that bad.

When a good player for us becomes a good player for the Jets I believe it is mandated to route against him.

  10. Newsday Article

The offense is in flux, but could get a quick reprieve with strong indications that left tackle Jonas Jennings is close to signing with the Jets.

    258000

Hopefully, for the Bills, his injury bug will continue and we will see him twice in the next 4 years.

Really he doesnt scare me that bad, he is a second tier T. Besides, the Jets are g onna loose their RT in FA so they are just swapping strength on the line. SChobel moves to the left side of the line, problem solved.

  11. This is the most frightening situation on the Bills. we have a fragile rookie at QB and only 3/5ths of a lline for certain? Not good. My thinking is there are going to be a lot of warm bodies paraded in and out of that OL.

    258193

I with you on this being our most important move this year. I do not agree that Losman is fragile. He is not RJ, he is a tough somm beetch who plays hurt and takes the hits. He is Flutie as far as injuries go. He will handle all the hits just fine. Now if your using fragile to describe the best environment to best speed along his learning I agree. If he has the time to throw and isnt feeling rushed he will learn much more quickly. young QB + pressure + mistakes.

  12. 4/5?

We are really only know that Villerial and Williams are back.  There are rumors that Teague maybe cut.  Jennings is gone and the LG blows.  So even with Teague that is 3/5.

    258192

Again, we must evaluate what is out there. Right now its a big fat pile of jack squat. Ryan Diem is the next closest T and he is by no means a sure fire LT, and certainly questionable as an upgrade to Jennings. As I said before, I hope to hell TD trades for or trades up to get a potential or current stud LT, This isnt a spot where we can take chances. Option #3 to me is moving Mike over. I do think he has the feet for the position. Remember his biggest asset was his ability to move for his size. I think he could handle it well.

Mike at LT + McKenzie or Womack at RT = upgraded T's

Diem + Mike at RT = downgrade at T's

    Thats how I see it.

  13. What are you smoking??? He had an off year and never really got into a rhythm.  Not to mention he was injured most of the season.

Tiki Barber, Curtis Martin and Jerome Bettis all have had bad seasons in the past.  Last year, Henry had an off year.

Arizona isn't backing out because of Henry's sulking... it's because there are a ton of RBs on the market and the draft is deep with backs.

    258086

Your statements beyond "what are you smoking" tell how you feel very well. Your crack about "crack" isnt necessary.

  14. ...if no good trade opportunity arises.  Don't let him go for nothing.

I hate to hear all this "Henry is a cancer" "He's lazy" "He's always injured" talk.  It really is just more of the "god or devil" attitude of so many fans: for too many of us either a player walks on water (and his image is at the top of the Two Bills Drive site) or he is comeplete horse puckey (and his picture comes down and his name is never spoken without invective).  I'm with Kelly the Dog on this one--Henry has done nothing wrong.  The guy played with a fractured leg a year ago, and gained 1400 yards.  I am aware of his limitations, but at this point the dissing of Henry has gone way beyond the rational.

We were going to have to find a backup  runner to McGahee anyway.  Well, we've already got Henry on the roster.  Maybe he'll chafe at being the  backup, but he's a better runner than most of the alternatives, and he comes with a manageable contract.  And maybe he'll buckle down and prove himself a professional if and when he gets the chance.

Which he may easily get, I hope you will remind yourselves.  McGahee is one good hit to the knee from losing another season (as is any back in the NFL).  He almost got wiped out on a bad screen pass from Bledsoe late in the season; it could happen on any play.  I say keep Henry as insurance if a good deal is not there.

    257854

Ya know, the people who claim all that crap about Travis only say it because they want a trade made for someone or a draft pick. Facts are its just not true.

Travis kept his mouth shut the whole time he was sitting the bench. That equals= a cancer? Not quite. Travis was a durable 1300+ annual back who always made the first guy miss and almost everyone here LOVED before McGahee took the field. Now all of the sudden hes crap...hes Lawrence Philips or Cecil Collins? Garbage. Travis is now and always has been one hell of a RB. Fumble problem? He had one bad year, the next year was average as far as fumbles go. Thats crap too. The guy IS a starter in this league and if his agent was worth any sh_t whatsoever he would ask (not demand) a trade. Thats what happened, guess what the Bills agreed and have been working on it. Clearly Tom doesnt think hes crap, he sure isnt treating him that way. If nothing happens and he ends up as our backup, I will almost guarantee that TRavis wont be constantly complaining. I bet he sucks it up, works hard, and returns in very good shape. He could easily see that McGahee could go down and again he is in.

I have no problem with talking trash about trash. This guy is not that and doesnt deserve it. I want him traded too, its best for the Bills and for him. But if he returns, he will absolutely NOT be a cancer and we would be lucky to have a RB of that caliper as our backup for only 1.25 mill!!!!
