  1. Hi guys,

i hope you're all doing well, even those who seem to not make the difference between german (they are the one with shaving issues) and french girls!

For bars in France, well the only Bills bar i know is my home (where Bills fans are always welcome) but the Basque Country is not on the usual beaten track of the american tourists... so if you're, like all the others, in damned Paris (you want rude frenchmen , you'll be served!), the best bar for american sports is the Moosehead in the Latin Quarter.

Have a great end of the year guys!

(PS: If some of you plan to cross the Pond for the Penn State game in Dublin next fall contact me!)

  2. People who care for the NFL keep an eye on college of course and i know quite a few europeans that are much more college football fans than nfl fans. . All tickets have been sold and frankly i've never been to an NFL game in Wembley since they do it (the games they propose suck and well from what i've heard the atmosphere is dull ) but i'd have never missed that game in Dublin! The atmosphere in Dublin will be crazy and there's some big gaelic football finals the next day so it looks like the whole city will be in party mode!

  3. Hello,

in a past topic Tombstone56 post about his brother playing for Verdun while in the Army in France in the 60ies. I've tried to contact him with a personnal message but it seems he does not use the mail system here as he has not readen yet my message after more than a month... Does anyone know how i can contact him ... i'd like to interview him or his brother for a story in my blog and in a new magazine we are launching...

  4. Well, there is a nice piece of info.

How about the Bills' public relations department? They should have a line on the whereabouts of ex-Bills.

Nice to see your post, Olivier, and how about posting a link to your blog? Oops, few of us can read French, I suppose, but post it anyway. Merci!

  5. my brother played football for Verdun in 1966 ,they used to celebrate touchdowns at games on bases by firing 105mm howitzers parked in back of end zones with blanks , what a rush!

i did interview a player of the Chateauroux Air Base a couple of years ago. That could be fun to interview your brother... drop me a pm if that seems possible...

  6. Hi guys!! As some of you may know, i have a football blog in France, quite well readen and one of the two or three serious football sites in France writing about what's going on in our leagues. For about 20 years all french football loving people think they know something for sure: the one and only frenchmen who ever started in the NFL has been Richard Tardits of the Cards and Patriots in the early 90ies. And then suddenly today i learn in fact the first frenchman who played in the NFL was a Bill: Charles Romes the CB of the 70ies and early 80ies who was born in Verdun France in 1954 (in a US Army base, from american parents, but well as all children born in France he's french!!) So now i dream to interview him for the blog!! Does anyone here know what he has become? how i could find him?

  7. For the ones wondering... we have won our first game 23-9 Sunday at Aix en Provence with a young french QB! As our canadian was just here for less than 10 days, it seemed better to start our french backup who knew our system a lot better and he threw 3 Tds! The canadian did play at RB. Now we have a qb controversy! LOL

  8. Good news and please do keep us posted. Is there a league website? I could follow French football during the offseason.

elitefoot.blogspot.com is my site and frankly one of the best to follow french football... but it's in french!

    That's awesome Olivier!

You may or may not know but McGill University has a VERY LONG history of American football as does the city where it's located, Montreal.

McGill is an Ivy League school and like many of the ivies had a football club by the 1870s, shortly after the time of Lincoln's assassination.

McGill used to regularly play games (matches) against Harvard and in fact these earliest matches are considered important historical events in the evolution of American football.

i know quite a little about mcgill! In fact last year we had a qb and a Rb both from there. MA Sinotte who was our QB last year has been elected the best foreigner of the league . He has most receiver records in quebec collegiate football but played QB for us (he was qb in HS) . he's now mc gill's receivers coach and has helped us recruit Mikelberg who will be our qB this year and has the same football resume HS QB who was WR in college

    Salut Olivier,

  9. Hey Olivier--this sounds like an awesome opportunity for a kid who is right out of school. Have you considered direct emails to D3 coaches?

we're trying about everything. The thing with young NCAA qbs is that the senior class is still studying and that last year's class has usually yet found something to do so late in the year... but i'm sure we'll find someone soon!

  10. A few things i had forgotten: This is a 10 games regular season league with trips planned in Nice, Aix en Provence, Thonon les Bains, Amiens and Paris. The team will play additionnal games in the european cup called the EFAF Cup with a trip planned in Switzerland for the first round.

  11. Hi Guys!

Our first division team here in France is looking urgently for a quarterback. Our canadian QB has been fired this week as he coud not get along with the coach. Problem is the season starts in two weeks! So we are looking for someone who could be available ASAP and till mid june and the end of our season. The team will pay for the travels, expenses, will provide a flat and give the QB a little extra money. It can be a great experience for a young american who can discover France and Europe, play football at a decent level (something like NCAA D3)... The team is based in Grenoble in the French Alps. If you know someone who could be interested, the guy should have experience as a starter with a team at least at a NCAA D2-D3 level. Contact me at edenfrog@hotmail.com
