so what Sue? we will talk about that game for decades in Boston and believe it or not after all this bad souvenir will become just a souvenir, one that we will cherish , a part of the Legend. As a difference to you Yanks fans for whom last season was just an average season, ending with your ass kicked by the Marlins... If all red Sox years could end in such dramas i don't care if we never win it all, sometimes the journey is much more important than the desination, and what a journey those last 2 seasons have been!

  2. what an incredible season , each day brings more exciting news! i don't care what may happen in October , i know something for sure: i have much more fun rooting for the Red Sox this year that i have ever had and i'm sure i have much more fun than any Yanks fan (how can you have fun rooting for the Yanks? can someone explain me!!); i love you Red Sox!!

  3. I would like to see the French National team play a team of the very best nfl players perhaps one day soon then.......

the european level is getting better each year, still light years from the NFL but the "nationals" in the NFLE are not just utility players anymore. in maybe 10-15 years i think the european national teams will be comparable to top NCAA teams.

  4. Paris is a great city.  It is both beautiful and historic.  You could spend hours just walking around.  It also has wonderful parks.  The best view of the city is from Sacre Coeur.  A lot of people go there to watch the sunset.  It overlooks Paris.

Notwithstanding what some others have said, Parisiens are actually pretty friendly for people from a big city.  They are much more friendly than New Yorkers for instance.

As far as food is concerned, you will find excellent food anywhere - from a simple boulangerie to the most expensive restaurant in Paris.

I thoroughly recommend the Chaussee aux Pommes (spelling?) (similar to an apple strudle.  Of course, something as simple as a baguette with camembert cheese is wonderful.  You will not go wrong with the food believe me.

The museums are top notch.  Of course, there is the Louvre.  Also, there are many wonderful smaller museums.  My favorite is the Musee D'Orsay, which is on the left bank of the Seine.

    Have a great trip.

    It's "chausson aux pommes" Peter!

I'm amazed that some of you actually found parisians friendly , you must spend too much time with NYers! Parisians are the most arrogant group of people in Europe you don't know how happy i am to have left them . Too bad those are the only frenchmen most tourists visiting our country ever met...

So as i always say to americans visiting Paris: Enjoy the town of course but if you want to know what France really is please take a train or something and visit some other places in the country! With TGV trains everywhere is reachable in a few hours, go on the Riviera, visit Old Lyon, the Loire castles, Normandy, Britany, the Alps, the wineyards, whatever looks good to you but if you want to know us please look outside the City! (and your wallet will appreciate the normal prices of provincial France!)

  5. Canada leads Slovakia  3 - 0 in the second period with Thornton, Smythe and Gagne scoring...... Slovakia?

Interesting the difference in the two countries ,in Canada bars full of folks watching the games , in U.S seemingly very few interested at all.

I could just imagine the difference if there would be such a thing as football world cup, ( the helmet and pads kind not the short pants version) the wall would be full of threads and excitement....

You should know that there is a football world cup! the first one took place last year in Sicily I think Mexico won it. I don't think there was any US team but there are a lot of national team competitions in football now, this summer the France national team won the European junior championships and the first team has won its ticket to the European championships winning its qualifying group last week end...

  6. We are having dinner at the Eiffel Tower on Saturday night followed by a cruise on the Saine and a show at the Moulan Rougue. Should be great!!!

As long as you don't say to the Moulin Rouge people that you love their Moulan Rougue you should be all right!!

  7. i 've rooted for whoever plays vs the French Rugby team for about 20 years now and i don't root often for the french soccer team . I usually pick my favorites teams based on the way they play their games or i root for my region 's club teams, why would i root for a rugby team that is made of guys i hate the rest of the year? i don't care if they wear the jersey of my country, for what i care about countries... I'll never understand nationalism and patriotism.

  8. i don't know what will happen next, The Red sox will probably find a way to break my heart down the road but what an incredible season! This has been fun from day 1, the wildcard race was just amazing for the last 3 weeks and even if Texas looks to give up a little now , it is still raging ...but now this!!! only 3.5 games behind and the yanks going nowhere... I love baseball!!
