  1. As much as I've gotten caught up in the Cowher sweepstakes, I also see major upside with Schottenheimer. He has worked with Brees and Rivers in the past, and has Sanchez, a rookie, into the second round of the playoffs.

Maybe Brian would come with dad as some type of a consultant to the Bills, or at least he could help Brian with assistant coaching contacts.

I also really like the idea that we'd be robbing the OC of a division rival.

My only question is, can be build a quality staff?

The Jets defense has them in the playoffs.

    And the three All-Pro Lineman

And the NFL's best rushing game (I think)

  2. Now I think we know why the dude doesn't want to retire. Makes millions of dollars playing a fricken' game.

"Damn Stephen, what they got you in for?"

That was my favorite line too, he is calling out Dlinemen by name right before he snaps the ball and AP runs right past that linemen. Funny stuff. Favre gets raked over the coals for all his waffling in the offseason, who here wouldn't take 12 million this year to have fun like that?

  3. I have direct TV but the problem with that in the 'Cuse is that the time warner sports channel has all the SU stuff. To get NFL network and be able to see all the SU games, I need both.

Mickey, I have the solution to your problem my friend. I live in Portland, OR and am an a avid Cuse fan. I got Directv for the NFL package to get all the Bills games. Half of the Cuse games are on ESPN, the other half (mostly the games now) can be seen if you add the "sports pack" to your programming for a couple of months. Channels like SNY, MASN, and Yes carry the rest of the Cuse games. The only exception being when ESPN360 has the game which only happens once or twice a year. It is $12 a month for 2-3 months, well worth it.

  4. And no way he lets them score that last "statement" touchdown at the end....if you have a chance to trample a division rival, you take it....you know Bellichek would have done the same.....nice guys finish last.

And what does that do for a teams confidence? Not to get all mental, but when you are used to barely winning and trying not to lose you lose the confidence. Nice to see our HC show some freaing balls

  5. I should have been more clear, sorry about that.

I have NO problem with anyone being a christian, but he seems to put the faith stuff in your face much more than the average athlete. Personally, it kind of offends me, but it's not then end of the world either.

If it offends you, hit the mute button on the tv...there you go, your religious frustrations and offenses are solved!

  6. I can't really agree with you there. Shanahan actually had some very good defenses in his time in Denver. In terms of total yards allowed, they were 4th best in the NFL as recently as 2003 and 2004, and his defenses finished in the top 10 seven of his fourteen seasons and in the top half of the league eleven times in the same period. They'd struggled recently, but his overall track record on defense is pretty good.

Yes, and the recent struggles of not being able to hold onto leads was what got him fired. Did any of his DC stay in Denver over two years? The slide at the end of last season was due to the defense allowing other teams to catch them after they established first half leads. And Cutler being an idiot at times and throwing bad INT's

  7. I think the big knock on Shanny in Denver was not his offense, he is afterall the Mastermind. His negative side was always the defensive side of the ball and was never able to make the right DC hire to complement his offense.

Picking two players that were airball judgements over the past 5 years is not really a telling sample for judgement. Apply those same strict standards to Bills draft picks and what do you get - total ineptitude

  8. Yes and no. The sideline stuff wasn't any different than Jim, Andre and the gang used to do. Stuff happens. Tempers flare. No problem with that. On the other hand, dogging it on the field shouldn't be tolerated, and they probably should've just told him to shut it down for the day at that point.

    JMO.

Agreed. It's sad that as soon as the opposing team takes a lead on this sissy bunch, you know that the game is over

  9. It is painful to watch Trent not throw the ball, it happens on 60% of passing plays for the Bills. Literally, I sit there and say throw it, throw it, throw it...and he either gets sacked or tosses out a duck to the RB (who then gets destroyed because the throw is so late).

He simply, and for whatever reason, will not throw the ball down the field or over the middle of the field.
