1. Are you Brady Quinn sphincter lovers serious?

This guy is a product of a system.  He has no natural ability, no passion to win, no emotion.

(It's not that I've ever seen him play, because I haven't.  He just plays for Notre Damn, and I hate pretty much everything that came out of the snot of "Touchdown Jesus".  0:) )

That's good. You attempt to refute and then concede that you don't know what you're talking about. Genius.

  2. Of course since you have 2 examples, it must be true...

    834351

Ya, you're right the best team in football for basically the past 5 years built their team through the draft, and that's not a good enough example. The same team who has tried to buy championships for longer than that has sucked for a while. That's a bad one too. Sorry for trying to answer your question.

  3. You are acting dense.

The Bills just lost by 1 POINT to the best team in football, the 9 -0 Colts. In order to do this, they had to play ultra-conservatively, Losman included. The best QB the NFL has seen in a long time, Tom Brady, tried to be a hero passing against this same team and came up short.

If you try to be a playmaking offense against the Colts, you will lose.

    834343

That's a good point. I'm not looking for losman to be a gunslinger. Just a big play here and there. We need playmakers on this team, and I think our qb should be one of them.

  4. Why is it that he has to be 'the best'?  Why can't he just become very good?  I'd be content with 'good' myself but it seems most here want HOF clalibre or nothing....in all possitions.

    834307

That's fine. He can be "good." I just want him to make a difference. We did make quite an investment in him, so I think the expectations are warranted.

  5. Rolly did you watch the game today????

Were our Redzone problems really JP's fault...??

    Lets take a look

    11 plays for -8 yards....

    8 run plays, 3 pass

lets look at the pass plays....

    1st pass play..PA pass/WR screen to Price for -3 yds(JP's FAULT??? NOPE!!!)....

2nd pass play...5 step drop, pass to Royal, terrible throw down at his feet(JP's FAULT??? Yessir)...

3rd pass play....5 step drop, Freeney sack....Freeney came in unblocked when he was one on one with our TE(JP's FAULT??? NOPE!!!)....

Now you tell me, that our redzone inability...rest squarely on the shoulders of our QB

    834274

Yes, I watched the game. And I agree with many in that the playcalling was subpar. This is the last time i'll say it: WE NEED JP TO BE A PLAYMAKER. JUST AS MANY TEAMS DEPEND ON THEIR QUARTERBACK TO MAKE PLAYS. So fairchild called 3 pass plays in the red zone. What does this say in their confidence in their quarterback? What does it say about losman's confidence in himself? I will give him the rest of the year to prove something, but as of now he's just behind center going through the motions, not making a difference.

  6. As opposed to eight times by the running game. Yet you blame Losman. Nice logic. <_<

Do not forget, that prior to the sack on third down in the 4th Quarter, the Bills had 2nd and 2 and the offensive line got bowled over and Thomas lost 3 yards. They followed that stunner up by wiffing on one of the best pass rushers in the NFL on the next play.

    834190

You can't compare running the ball with throwing the ball. Most runs are around 4 yds a carry. Most passes are for at least 8 yards per. All i'm saying is i want losman to make some plays, even if he doesn't have many opportunities. The best players make the best of their little opportunities before they become good.

  7. I don't know.  As much as I like Willis, his back up seems to run harder.  I won't say Thomas runs with more heart because it's hard to tell, but the A-train gives it his all on every run.  He earned his yards today.  I was actually glad he was starting today over Willis because I thought we would have a better chance to win with him.

    834260

    Thomas = North to south

McGahee = east to west, southeast to west, you get the picture.

  8. Equally as factual as the hypothesis of this topic.

How can people blame Losman for our ineffectiveness in the red zone when he only attempted three passes in the red zone, completing 1? The other 8 times we RAN THE FREAKIN' BALL and got nothing.

    834170

True, but those are 3 times he failed to make a game-changing play.

  9. The main reason for the loss was the bills' inability to finish in the red zone. 11 plays for -8 yards is pitiful. Coming away with 6 points on 3 chances is also a disgrace.

For this, I have to place the blame on losman. He has got to make plays in the red zone. I don't care what the gameplan is, we all know that we most likely won't be able to run the ball all the time and score touchdowns.

Losman was 9/13 for 85 yards today. I understand it is playcalling. However, after today I am starting to lose faith in losman and his ability to win football games. We need our quarterback to make some plays, and frankly I don't know if he's capable of that. Between him and mcgahee, we have 2 guys that will play ok but not be those difference makers which we direly need.

I am still willing to give losman the rest of the year, but he needs to start making a difference. I don't want a quarterback who is on my team soley to "not make mistakes." I need a guy who can be a game changer, and who I can count on to lead his team to victory.

One more thing, to those of you who say "they almost beat one of the best teams in the league!" I don't care. Is it better to "almost" win or get blownout? The answer is neither, they're both losses.

  10. Similar running numbers but Travis flat out could not nor would not try to block at all.  In addition, 18 vs. 4 fumbles is huge.  Plenty of "good" running backs have been benched for fumbling far less then that.  Whether they are lost or not is of little importance, because they tend to be for lost yardage, and loss of down.  Very difficult to sustain drives when you running back alone will basically force a turnover per game whether stalling a drive or just turning the ball over.  With only 7 or series per game, a questionable QB in Bledsoe, who fumbles and throws INT, we were losing 3 series in turnovers alone per game.  Just not acceptable.

    Good points- agreed.

  11. So I was bored, and with the recent travis henry talk around here I decided to look at a comparison between henry and mcgahee. I took 2 years as starters for the bills and compared them statistically. (Yes I know, the lines were different with different coaches etc.) Two things I did find interesting however were the yards/carry difference and the overall yardage. We all know about henry's fumble problems. Somewhat similar numbers but not as much hype for henry from what I can remember.

No I am not insinuating anything, but my question is do we overhype McGahee around here for whatever reason (big college name, miami player etc.)? I really don't have a solid opinion on it but I was wondering what everyone else thought.

    Henry:

    2002 BUF 16 games/ 325 att/ 1438 yds./ 4.4 yds-carry/34 long/ 13 td's/ 72 1st downs/ 11 fumb./ 8 fumb lost

    2003 BUF 15 games/ 331 att/ 1356 yds./ 4.1 yds-carry/ 64 long/ 10 td's/ 76 1st downs/ 7 fumb./ 3 fumb lost

    McGahee:

    2004 BUF 16 games/ 284 att/ 1128 yds./ 4.0 yds-carry/ 41 long/ 13 td's/ 64 1st downs/ 3 fumb/ 2 fumb lost

    2005 BUF 16 games/ 325 att/ 1247 yds./ 3.8 yds-carry/ 27 long/ 5 td's/ 71 1st downs/ 1 fumb./ 1 fumb lost

  12. Does what the Sabres are doing so far this year make it any easier to be a Buffalo Bills Fan?

I haven't lived in Buffalo for 30 years now, but I still follow the Bills and Sabres about as much, if not more, (internet), as I did as a kid growing up in Buffalo.

When the Buffalo teams are doing good, I feel good.  When they are doing bad, I feel like ..............empty.

I "love" what the Sabres are doing and am more excited about their chances this year to win it all than I've ever been.

But man, it doesn't do anything to take away the sting that comes from watching the Bills embarrass themselves.  I know this was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and they weren't expected to when all 16 games.  But to see them get blasted by the Bears, see them lose to the winless Lions, and than watch NE come into our house and treat them like step-children......brutal.

If the Sabres win all 82 games and take home the Lord Stanley Cup it won't  make me feel any better about being a Bills fan.

    817643

It doesn't make it easier to be a buffalo bills fan per say. However, it does make it easier to be a buffalo fan. The only way it would be easier to be a bills fan is if they were competitive.
