  1. IMO, Wood (C, G) Byrd (FS) and Levitre (G) will all start in the opener. Maybin will see snaps on 3rd downs and obvious passing situations, with hopefully more responsibility as the season progresses.

I consider day one a success, and I think they've improved this team more than we realize. These are not flashy picks (see orakpo, brown) but they addressed areas of needs which will make this team better. Not a perfect day one, but I would give it a B+.

If they can pick up a TE and OLB from here on out, I would consider the entire draft a success. GO BILLS!

  2. As another disappointing season comes to an end, 2 things seem to be almost certain for next year:

    1. Edwards will get the chance to be the starter for at least another season

    2. Losman will be gone, leaving a vacancy at backup QB (unless you think hamdan can do the job)

My guess is that they will bring in a veteran QB to help along trent, as well as someone who can step in and get the job done if need be (see kerry collins)

So, the question is- Who might the bills go after?

Here's a list of potential free agent QB's who might be worth a look in 2009 (in no particular order):

    1. Kerry Collins

    2. Byron Leftwich

    3. Jeff Garcia

    4. J.T. O'Sullivan

    5. Matt Cassel

While its not a very enticing list, I think i'd attempt to sign Jeff Garcia. He's old (38) but can still get the job done and win games. My only concern is that he might still want to start somewhere. What does everyone think?

  3. Ok so maybe I underestimated Stroud's value to this team. He does not have much help around him to free up space, and it is hard to evaluate dt play since they can be quiet on the stat sheet and still be productive. However, I've watched a few jets games this year (including jets-bills) and jenkins makes a noticeable difference. He is consistently blowing up the line, getting sacks, and clogging holes. While i've been ok with the addition of stroud, i'd like to see him make some more game-changing plays. I look at stroud the same way I look at whitner. Solid players, but not playmakers that can change a game.

  4. We are now 12 weeks into the season, and we have seen what both stroud and jenkins have added to their new teams. Looking back, did the bills miss the boat on kris jenkins, or is it too early to fully evaluate stroud and his play? Jenkins has been a huge factor for the jets while stroud has been average at best and invisible at times. Bad personnel move or too early to tell?

  5. Rhodes and Brown aren't replacements for McGahee. They would be a replacement for A-Train. Even if we traded McGahee, we would still pick up someone else to be the 1 guy, with Rhodes or Brown being the 1a, in the same vein that Rhodes was for Addai.

I agree with you but, in all due respect how do you know they're not replacements? I agree because I don't think either rhodes or brown are capable starters in this league, but unless you or I work for the front office, neither of us truly know what they're up to. Just judging by what some people are saying on this board about brown and rhodes coming in, I am refutting their points.

  6. Haven't posted here in quite sometime, but this thought kind of boggled my mind.

I, myself would much rather have mcgahee over rhodes or brown. Here's why:

    1. I've been very critical of mcgahee in the past, but I think we need to see him behind this revamped o-line in order to truly judge his talents. I think we can all agree that mcgahee has ran behind nothing but mediocre to below-average lines during his tenure in buffalo.

    2. Mcgahee knows the system here and there's no learning curve (which rhodes or brown would have to become accustomed to)

Bottom line, coming from one of the people most critical of mcgahee, I think the bills need to give him a shot in 2007 and see what happens.

  7. Just an update:

So I tailgated last sunday and at about 12:45 went searching for tickets. First stop was the bus lots, probably talked to every soul over there, and no one remotely selling.

Me and my buddies walked around the stadium and moreso for about 45 minutes with the best deal being 300 level for face value. The scalpers were very stingy and they were the only ones selling.

Around 1:50 a couple guys hangin out in the parking lot offered me and my buddy tix for $10 bucks each- section 335 (around 30 yeard line or so.)

All in all it ended up a success (although we missed a quarter and a half).

I was very surprised by the lack of sales as well as the face value prices for the most part.

I have tix locked up for the miami game so thankfully I don't need to do a 5k around the stadium again. Thanks to all who gave me pointers.

  8. This is something that normally pops into my head every sunday night. I think the reason it has been so frustrating this year is that this team gets close but can't finish.

The bills have lost 5 games by 5 points or less. Now that's frustrating.

In optimism, I have seen some improvements this year, and we can all see where the weaknesses are, so I expect a better team and a better record next year.

I'm trying, but the word "rebuilding" gives me a headache now.

  9. By the way, lawyer milloy (although not traded) went right from the patriots to the bills. It didn't seem to hurt their team too much.

Basically, I don't mind trading in the division or letting former players go to other teams in the division, unless they are a difference maker.

    Mcgahee is just "there."

  10. Oh God! We lost a divisional game to the new top rival New England Patriots in week #1 this year. The guy who got that safety that allowed New England the two point win was the first round draft pick New England got when Drew Bledsoe came to Buffalo. It may come back to haunt us again. So again I say no trading within the division.

So your original post talks about mcgahee and now it turns into draft picks?

  11. Do you remeber TD's rnd 1 pick to to NE for Drew? Remember the guy in game 1 who sacked JP for a safety, which was possibly the losing two points, yeah it was that draft pick.

    I don't understand your point.

  12. When are people on hear gonna get the hint that you do not trade within the division. If I shopped McGahee around it would be towards Texas, Florida, California, those type of places.

Why? Are you afraid to face him? I'm sure not. Maroney/Dillon and ronnie brown scare me more than mcgahee would.

  13. I paid $50 for a pair to Jacksonville-33 rows up at the 30 yard line....heres what you do.

first, DO NOT EVER EVER BUY FROM A SCALPER....at least not yet

second, Go up the main walkway between the parking lots about 30 mins before kickoff-sometimes on the parking lot side sometimes just passed the road.  look for an INDIVIDUAL who is selling tickets.  You can spot them a mile away....make sure you have a stadium seating chart with you to make sure the seats are ok....most of the time they are selling them for their buddy and will take what ever they can get for them....offer $40 a pair....if they say no, say ok, sorry, I just don't want to spend that much and walk away to the other side of the road to get a better deal.  Have patience and faith and you WILL find someone who will give you what you want.  Sometimes you may have to cross the street a time or two or even walk a little by the stadium and look the that same guy who is just trying to get rid of them. If all else fails, wait 5 mins before kickoff and the scalpers will be fighting over you....do not pay more then $50 pr.  You can do it.  Keep telling yourself that when they try to get more $ out of you...The key is finding the individual to buy from.  If your parking in the lots keep your ears open...an individual may be walking by trying to sell them...hell, just for your confidence,  ask a scalper and when they say $50 a ticket tell them nooo, thats too much...it will make you feel good.  If you have a buddy with you play good cop/bad cop.  You ask how much and when they tell you have your buddy say...no lets go dude we can do better than that....shake your head, say allright, and walk away....

Good Luck...let me know what you get them at....you can always go up in your offer...if they look drunk offer $30 for the pair and tell them that will by you 4-5 beers in there....they just might go for it.

YOU CAN DO IT!!  Good luck my apprentice.....

PS...if your a San Diego fan then pay double the face and be happy about it.

That's awesome man. Thanks for the advice. And I am most definitely not a chargers fan.

  14. Right. And God forbid that I have a difference of opinion with the guys posts.

It's really turning into cronyism around here.

I was just thinking the whole "suck it" notion probably wasn't necessary. Unless, of course you're 12.
