Its nice luxury to play safety on a stacked defense like the 49ers... Would Whitner have put up those same improved numbers on a crappy team like the Jags.
No, because the Jags play in a 4-3 system

By the time draft boards/prospect rankings become clear to the public (around early April), it will be evident that no team has Nassib as a first round pick.
It's funny you say that since Russell Lande was speculating today that Andy Reid might take Nassib #1 overall.

He seemed to do ok in a 3-4 set during the Pittsburgh game a few years back.

Hey, did you guys hear that Chip Kelly to Cleveland is a done deal?
/sarcasm

Pettine strikes me as a good DC candidate. He disguises his defenses well and blitzes...two things that we didn't see last year. AT ALL.
And for the umpteenth time, a 1-gap 3-4 is essentially the same as a base 4-3 except the end/LB stands up on one end to rush the passer instead of being in a 4-point stance.

I was a big Manti Te'O fan, but he couldn't get off blocks last night. He was engulfed by the Alabama Olinemen. I am no draft expert, and know one game doesn't a career make, but man that didn't look good.
-
Also, a 1-gap 3-4 is essentially a 4-3, except one of the LB's/DE's is in a 2 point stance instead of a 4-point.
Oops, I'm sorry. I mean: "We're DOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMEEEEDDDD!!!!!!"

They'd have to dangle the Assistant Coach title to get this done, right? Otherwise its a lateral move.
Possible Asst HC title...but also (potentially) 4 years job security with a new coach.

Monte got his butt handed to him in the college game. He even had top-flight talent at USC and he couldn't stop the spread up-tempo attack
Do not want
Monte had a REALLY tough time against college spread offenses. Living here in LA I got to see it first hand. That wouldn't bode well against, let's say, the Patriots.

I love the hire of Marrone the more I read about him. Got to love a former o lineman that was the OC of the league's no. 1 offense in 08

if your [sic] ok knowing 15 minutes later, the actual sports sites are pretty much the same but filter out some of the trash.
I am willing to sort through a little trash...and it's a quick way for me personally to sort through things like when I am waiting for lunch. You also can follow players and other people. I find it interesting and enjoyable, but I also understand why some people hate it (for it's lack of polish).

Anyone surprised? Tim is quite thin skinned. He's not bright enough to debate/argue so he runs away and pouts. I never really had any respect for him when he graced TBD with his presence.
Not surprising he got dumped by ESPN once they quickly realized his lack of talent and now he's bitter because he is back working in Buffalo and isn't even a beat writer, columnist or radio guest.
I think you have it backwards. Tim left a blogger post with ESPN to take the BN job. Then, ESPN couldn't get anyone to fill his shoes on the blog so they gave it to the NFC North hack James Walker...who is lazy and retweets his own tweets.
from Chris Taprasso?
Did I mention any names? It was an "in-general" comment. You like to pick the fly $h1t out of the pepper, don't you?

Twitter is dumb.
Twitter is a great way to get breaking sports news.

Nothing personal to Buddy Nix. But, the sooner his exit strategy is finalized. The sooner the Bills can look forward to a new era. One of possible long overdue success. It's stunning that he is still employed today. The only reason that's possible is because of how close the 2013 draft is and his considerable input in it(good or bad).
Or you know, it could also be because the talent is higher and roster depth deeper since he got here.
Some of you people think franchise quarterbacks grow on trees. Oi.

Whats your logic that KC has 5 guys heading to the Pro Bowl...5!!!!
I have no explanation other than there are always data points outside the norm. And KC has very good skill position players. Many thought they were going to the playoffs, even with Matt Cassel as their QB.
Plus, this franchise hasn't made the playoffs in 13 years. I am sure that has some kind of effect on things.
-
I personally think Mike Mularkey is the only decent head coach we've had in this era of playoffless...ness.
I guess you're forgetting Meathead's proclivity for play action passes to the fullback on the 1 yard line. Over and over and over again. Oh, how time erases all bad memories for some.

Hey, sometimes when you have talent it doesn't work out...look at the Lions this year. They're a bigger disappointment than the Bills are.

Please read the date of this post and then read through the thread. Quit replying to something that was said months ago and catch up with what is currently being said (thanks, Beerball)
The date of your post has everything to do with things. People are full of crap, then they pontificate, and they are later invariably proven wrong.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

So many people here say without question that the roster is much better now than it was 3 years ago. But I honestly don't believe it is. If at all, I think it is marginally better at best and it seems that the rest of the league agrees. The Bills have nobody going to the probowl while 2 players (Whitner and Lynch) who were here 3 years ago are going. I think our O-line is clearly better than 3yrs ago. Almost every other position is either the same or worse.
Pro Bowl voting is directly correlated to a winning record. Jairus Byrd is playing at a Pro Bowl level, as are others...but with our record there is no way they're getting voted in.
If you don't see the improvements on the Oline and Dline, then I don't know what to tell you.

Chan has revealed bad coaching besides just QB related stuff. And in any event, Chan gave us Fitz. So even if it is all about the QB, he is the one who backed Fitz like this.
Chan may have given us Fitz, but he also got rid of Trent.
If Chan has a different (and better) QB, we win that second Patriots game.
Chan is so much better than Jauron, it's not even funny. And I don't care that Jauron had a better record. A broken clock is right twice a day too.

THought this was a pool in my area. Good thing it wasn't. That pool has 2700 entires...so if there's only one left, they get $270,000. Nice.

Brooks has made mistakes, but he has also made plays on the ball. And his coverage looked pretty good on that play in the endzone.
It's certainly better than Aaron Williams giving WR's a 10 yard cushion and still getting torched.
-
Nix = used car salesman telling you to save the engine repair for last but get the rims now
Actually, that's not true. He's built both the lines, which is the foundation of any team. You're just peeved we're not winning.

I was one of those fans who said the talent on the D is good, and didn't understand why they were giving up so much. I thought it might be Wanny's scheme, but wasn't sure.
Now the D is playing like many thought they should, and it seems many of the mistakes were gap responsibilities.
I'm not saying the D is going to keep playing like it has, but things seem to be pointed in the right direction. Glad to see Mario is playing better with the wrist fixed.
The annual Torrell Troup article

According to his Twitter account, Troup had a similar injury to Johnny Knox of the Bears. That's a pretty serious injury.
EDIT: I see that was alluded to in the Chris Brown article. FYI, Troup was asking how to get in contact with Johnny Knox yesterday.
