1. It's likely a combination of his own dedication, more experience (it's nice to let guys develop rather than blindly signing a 35-year-old stopgap vet), and the guidance of McNally.

Oh, and not having liabilities at both sides of the man. Ruben and Pucillo were addition by subtraction. The first game vs. Denver was an improvement b/c Villareal was in, but Pucillo was still at RG. Notice how the angry Teague threads have subsided since Lawrence Smith was put in at LG? LS's not a world-beater (yet) but he can at least hold his own.

True. I overstated how little Teague has shown, but he was seen as more a liability than a strength up until now. I'm just thankful he's looking good. When you have an immobile QB, the last thing you need is a bad interior of the O-line. Heck even a mobile QB needs a good pocket. Hopefully now they stay healthy and develop as a unit. There's too much talent on that O-line for it not to be a good one.

  2. ...has become a legitimate strength of the bills' OL?

i'm no expert, but i've watched a lot of football, and during the PS thus far teague has looked very solid to my untrained eye.  pressure on the QBs has not come from up the middle, from what i've seen.

is it reasonable to suggest that finally, after a couple of years, teague has "bought in" to being a C and has now embraced the cerebral aspects of the position that will allow him to succeed?  i think that when the bills brought him in initially, there was a reluctance to switch from T to C, but perhaps he has now turned the corner.

    i sure hope so.

More likely it's McNally. Teague has been with the Bills the past 2 years and hasn't shown much. Then after McNally enters he gets better? Too coincidental, although the possibility remains that he has improved on his own.

  3. She probably will be, but I wouldn't. It's admitting guilt. And the evidence shows that the injuries she had are consistent with consensual sex (as per an ME who the prosecution dropped because that was his opinion on it) and that she had sex with someone AFTER having sex with Bryant, which NO rape victim does.

  4. ABC reported that it will be dismissed "with prejudice," meaning he can't be tried again. As for a settlement, that will come with the civil trial and has nothing to do with this criminal case since it's the people trying it, not the alleged victim. As I said, I don't know why it took so long. Once it was revealed she screwed some guy AFTER screwing Kobe, not even having the sense of a two-bit whore to change undies before going to the ER, and the judge allowed it to be entered into evidence (as he should have), the case was over.

Sorry if this has been posted previously.

Can you believe New England only had 5 illegal contact calls for the whole 2003 season!  They could/should have been called for a dozen against the Colts in the AFC Championship game alone !

Actually they should have been called 15 times against the Colts, as per ESPN. But that wouldn't have changed anything, right?

  6. I would think that the guys currently on the roster who would be targeted for the practice squad would be in the final cuts not todays cuts.

    12998

That's what you'd think, but I remember reading that teams like to cut players in the massive cut early-on, so as to "hide" players to bring back later. I guess we'll see.

  7. I'm sure there were a lot of factors. First of all, and probably the biggest thing, Bober is from KC. Second of all, I believe he wanted to play tackle rather than center, and the Chefs signed him to play tackle. Third was probably money, since he got a good deal from the Chefs, that the Bills could easily have matched, but probably didn't want to give.

I too wonder whether he wishes he came to Buffalo and was their starting center (assuming the Bills let Teague go before paying him that $2M roster bonus or whatever it was) rather than a backup? Oh well, in any case, Teague has been playing well.

  8. I was being sarcastic, but actually I have a lot more faith in this line than most people do.  I think by no later than than week 4 (after the bye)this O line will be a prett solid unit.  With Drew getting rid of the ball faster and having two RB's to wear down Defenses, this line is in a great position to finally get better.

I know you were being sarcastic (i.e. saying you had little confidence in the O-line). Glad to hear you're not predicting DOOM!

That said, week 2 at Oakland scared the hell out of me.  With the line they have there, you have to gameplan to pass more than run.  The line is going to get one hell of a test trying plug up T.Washington and still account for Sapp.

    12757

Sapp at end and TW in the middle don't worry me. They're not pass rushers, but will be hard to move out of the way. I say run a lot of off-tackle stuff.

  9. i hope he does well...cuz if he stinks up the field, teams are going to start thinking of hitting drew a little harder next time...we'd have no one to field, and everyone knows it.

but i'm gonna stick to the optimism thing. drew won't get hurt, and TB and JPL will be pupped, preserving the roster spots. If matthews shows something, they'll have a tough time choosing the cut: matthews or TBrown. It'll probably be Matthews. So somewhere around week 6, when both our guys come off the pup, what the hell will we tell Matthews? ' Thanks, Buh-bye? '

it's a real roster predicament, methinks.

    12804

I doubt teams were shaking at the prospect of facing AVP the last 2 years, so I doubt they put anything extra into hitting DB, not that he can't take a hit with the best of them. I do like Matthews as a backup more than Brown, on the off chance he had to play.

  10. Congrats to Lawrence Smith. You came into camp as an unknown wildcard and showed the other contenders how it's done. Now don't blow this golden opportunity like Pucillo and Sullivan did.

    12454

Sounds like one of those Bud "real American hero" commercials:

"Here's to you, Mr. unknown wildcard who showed the other contenders how it's done-guy!" (background singer: "Mr. unknown wilcard starting LG job winner guy!").

  11. It seems to me this is a very odd cut, and there may be more than what meets the surface.  Projected 3rd rounder, goes in the 7th...then gets cut during the first round of cuts.

I wanted to take this guy as well.  Perhaps give him a look, but its not looking promising for him right now.

    12494

There's too much potential. It's not like the guy was a college LB'er or doesn't have size (he could probably add 10-15#), and his speed, strength, and athleticism are unreal. Like I said he seems like a project since he came from a lower level of competition, but he's be worth a shot. Who knows, maybe he missed a meeting and Coughlin cut him?
