1. Wonder why that is?  BECAUSE THAT ONE YEAR HE WORKED AT IT.

His play-passing hasn't been good since then.

    17693

So the inference is that his play-action passing was what led them to the SB? WEll his stats were as good, if not better, in 1997, when he had Curtis Martin. See you need a running game to be able to sell the play-action.

  2. In '96 under Parcells, The Drewfather made it his mission to become a good play-action passer.  He was terrific at it that one year, leading the Pats to SB 31.  He never put the time or effort in on it again, which was too bad - he made himself a good play-action passer when he worked at it.

Laziness - or more accurately, doing the bare minimum - has always been DB's downfall.  With Wyche riding him, perhaps that's the prescription to get him back to his previous level of established mediocrity.

    (Sorry - couldn't resist!) <_<

So Drew was a good play-action passer back in 1996 (and 1997 I'd suspect), but not AFTER that? Hmmm, wonder why THAT is? Oh wait a minute, it's because it's ALWAYS DREW'S FAULT. Sorry, the excuse generator went on the fritz there for a minute.

  3. Cool...  I know you've heard it before but I'm telling you there is a distinct change in his setup as well as in his play-action game. Wyche is making a difference. Now it's up to Drew to keep at it.

Come now! Drew has had AMAZING coaches before who couldn't do a thing with him. What makes you think a bum like Wyche could help him? :sarcasm:

  4. The difference between you and me kangaroo is that I actually watch the games, understand the game of football, and contirbute to this board. There is nothing "fluffed" about my post above. I post just the facts. If you actually watched the games or knew WTF you were looking at you might understand that situationally, the running game was a success and forced the lions in tight and allowed for a play action passing game. I know it's poular to be negative about everything these days but I dont jive with that stevestojan and I never will. Please refrain from posting on my threads in the future asswipe.

Don't worry 34-78-83. "Guesteroo" sounds like a Patsy fan who only knows how to read box scores but lacks the underlying understanding of the various elements about the game of football. You know, the ones who will likely respond to this post.

  5. Well, he's been doing the snapping the last couple of times (for Lindell's PAT, and also Moorman's last punt).  So maybe he'll stick around.

They did that last weekend as well. Teague and Neufeld in the 1st half, Dorenbos in the 2nd. It will be interesting to see what happens.

  6. They definitely won't keep 4 RB's, unless you're including FB in there. I still think they keep just 1 FB (although I don't know if it will be Shelton or Lawton since I don't think Shelton has really distinguished himself) and use Neufeld as a backup FB if need be.

  7. Lawrence Smith would actually be credited to John Guy but the rest of the guys are Rookie Free Agents. As you said, Modrak and Donahoe did themselves well.

    Late

I read that McNally was pushing hard to get Smith, so the real credit goes to him. Guy had a pretty quiet off-season. And I'd call Smith a "street" FA, which is as good as an undrafted rookie FA (better actually since he's not a rookie), because it didn't cost a draft pick or lots of money.

  8. Ya - thanks for posting this - it's true.  We were all freakin' out last preseason too - it was the same thing.  They'll be fine on opening day (gulp... I hope).

Besides - the Lions had 64 yards passing in the first half.

I was LMAO at all the people wanting to dump Adams just based on pre-season. Like I said, these guys KNOW what they can do, are older, and don't want to get injured. It's not a concern until it PROVES to be a concern.

  9. Teague is handling the field goal snaps and Neufeld is handling the punt snaps.

    16614

They were handling them last week, and doing a poor job. I assume they're doing better this week. Good from a team standpoint in that they can save a roster spot, and also I'm sure Dorenbos will catch-on somewhere. He's a good kid who's had a rough life.

  10. Shaud Williams, Lawrence Smith, Rashad Baker, Luke Lawton, Jabari Greer - Modrak earned his paycheck this offseason.

    16637

Smith technically wasn't an undrafted FA of the Bills, and was more McNally's doing. Also add in Peters, who I think makes the PS. Maybe even Ritzmann.

  11. The run defense sucked last year in pre-season, if anyone remembers, and even if you don't, I'm sure you'll remember those calling for Sam's head because he looked like he didn't care (and he didn't). Run defense won't be a problem come the real season, and I'm sure you'd be pissed if Sam or Pat got injured trying to stop the Lions' amazing running attack.

  12. The wife, boys (age 3-1/2 and 2) and I, along with the in-laws, were supposed to fly down to Orlando this Saturday for a trip we've (read: the wife, although I like it as well but not to the same extent she does) planning for over 2 months now. Well we can cancel our Disney lodging and get a full refund, but US Airheads said that we have to fly within 7 days from this Saturday, paying the difference of course. Any suggestions where we can all go last minute?

  13. If I were Kobe, I'd say my desires were to live life with my kid and wife and my Mom and Dad, and to win championships playing basketball as this game brings me lots of dollars so i can enjoy life with my family.

If I have to make a financial payoff to end my relationship and time spent on folks in Colorado and their legal system I'd easily do this.  In fact, I would view "sticking to my guns" as you put it as another act of selfishness and satisfying my needs over the needs of my family when doing this was what got me in trouble in the first place.

I think one of the problems with our society is that people take actions to satisfy their own needs first whether they views their needs as a sexual romp in CO or "sticking to their guns".

Bryant admitted to making a mistake. He'll have to live with his indiscretion for the rest of his life. However not paying money to a woman who wasn't raped is not being "selfish," and actually paying her millions to dismiss the suit just to make it easier on Bryant would be more selfish than trying to clear his name through the civil suit. I have no particular like for Bryant, but I don't think he's a criminal and should have to pay.

  14. Don't be so fast to slander the women, read Kobe's letter

    15392

I agree with JfH. It's basically an "apology" saying "I didn't rape you and sorry you feel that I did, but I didn't." And as for "slandering the woman," she did that all on her own with her sexual history, especially having sex AFTER allegedly being raped. She has no one else to blame but herself for Bryant getting-off (so to speak), even if he DID rape her.
